They also have coffee, soda, and water, so it's the perfect place to stop for a little treat. It always seems to be super busy (which honestly tells you how good it is!), but somehow you never have to wait in line for very long. The staff keeps everything moving while still being so welcoming. And the old bank safe is SUCH a fun touch! I absolutely adore taking my kids to Pie Safe! It's such a charming and unique little spot, and the cheesecake is absolutely phenomenal. Every time we visit, the staff is incredibly kind, polite, and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. One of my favorite things about Pie Safe is the history behind the location. The building was originally a bank over 100 years ago, and the original safe is still right in the center of the space on display! I love how they incorporated that piece of history into the name "Pie Safe"--it gives the place so much character. Amazing desserts, wonderful people, and such a neat atmosphere. We were in the area doing other items when this place caught our eye. The front does not do the inside justice. Really cool safe in the background looks like it used to be a bank and it's instantly heaven when you smell all the backing aromas inside. They had a wide selection of cookies, muffins, pies, and cake cakes. They also serve coffee. It's a perfect spot if you want to eat, have a snack, hang out with the family and kids or your four-legged children outside. I have to admit we were overwhelmed and didn't know what to get so we started off with a chocolate chip cookie and an Oreo cheesecake. We will definitely come back to try the buckeye pie, which looked amazing. The prices were reasonable, and the servers were absolutely excellent. My daughter and I and her youngest son stopped here together. Perhaps we should have placed an order ahead of time. But at those elevated prices for a whole pie: approximately 28.00 bucks and just a standard pie size at that, I'd think they would have a few on hand! I don't expect anybody would go out of their way to come get some pie in Western NC but if you're in the area or heading to Asheville you'd be well rewarded coming here for a slice. Amazing crusts. Fillings were excellent. Nothing too sweet. Lots of choice but on a weekend get here before 12 or the choices will decrease as the crowds devour the offerings. We had the Apple and sour cherry pies and the cherry was exceptional, with a streusel type crust. I'd have bought a whole one if going back home but I was flying out the next day and it wasn't an option. And I guess you have to order a whole one in advance anyway. Prices are very reasonable too and the slices are big. You can see in the photos the pies are oversized. The town is mostly all on the one Main Street and they have made a great effort to attract tourists with great little shops and stores. Well worth a couple of hours of your time. Service was a bit slow, but y'all relax and chill while you wait. You're in the South. Eat some pie then digest as you investigate the shops! read more

Something told me to stop here and I am so glad we did. When you step in, the aroma of fresh brewed coffee envelopes you. The friendly and welcoming staff make you feel at home as you make your selections. We got slices of cherry and coconut pies. Normally, I eat as little of the crust as possible, but the Pie Safe's crusts were so flaky and light I could not resist. Both pies were delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. Captured some treats to share; Red Velvet and Raspberry Swirl and Strawberry Cream and a Chocolate Covered one with a berry on top. Walking Forest City's main street for Christmas lights on Christmas Eve, we stopped here to have a snack. Their bakery offerings were scarce near closing time. They did have chocolate cake and an assortment of muffins. They were making several coffees on this cold afternoon. We enjoyed the white chocolate raspberry muffin. The top was crunchy, the center moist and soft with ample dried raspberries. We are not coffee drinkers, so we passed on that. The decor is great for photo ops, with eclectic chairs and architecture, as it's in a former bank. Even the old safe is used. The service was slow, and the staff seemed to enjoy chatting with each other rather than assisting customers. They seemed put out when we asked questions. We are older than the crowd in the shop this day, or any coffee shop for that matter, but it served its purpose for us, and we moved on. read more

The best service e I've ever had at any coffee shop! Wonderful coffee graciously served and promptly. This is located in a beautiful antique bank building in a two-story lobby. Inside you can see the massive round vault door that very safely guarded cash and securities. This Poe. All the desserts looked delicious. They were all very decorative . My husband had the blueberry cheesecake. He said it was so good. A great concept a old bank where the vault is filled with pies. Not just any kind of pies but some of the best I have tried. The crust was amazing. The pies I was expecting to be sweet, yet to my surprise they were perfect, not too sweet at all! This is a locals heaven for desserts, they also have cookies and muffins. Well guess what??? I ate all of it! AMAZING PIE CRUST! Its flakey and light and very good. I am serious when I tell you I just don't normally eat it. So we ordered a small pie to share. We didn't want anything too sweet. The girl said the Chocolate Chess pie was good. Like a brownie but not as sweet. She was correct! It was good!!! I had never had that kind of pie before either. We did buy 2 muffins as well to take home to have with coffee. A Blueberry and Chocolate Chip. The only complaint on just the Chocolate Chip was it was a bit dry and did not taste like it was just made. The blueberry my husband enjoyed. I like the sugar on top gave it a great taste. When I found out there was a homemade pie store in Forest City it didn't take me long to visit. Pie is one of my favorite desserts, or maybe I should say "good pie". The shop is a in a cute downtown area right on the corner. I believe it's actually in an old bank building - I could swear a saw a bank vault at the back of the store. The variety of products here is pretty incredible, but not all products are available all the time. So... breads, scones, muffins, quiche, cheesecake, cookies and of course PIE! I'm probably forgetting some things. I opted for the NY Style Cheesecake and a Latte, while my kids split a giant Chocolate Chip Muffin. Everything was delicious and fairly priced. The Latte was less than $3 and my entire bill was right at about $10. Fresh Baguettes are only $2. If you're indecisive you can get a "pie flight" for $5.50 which allows you to choose three half slices. So why didn't I get the pie? I'm a two crust pie kind of guy and all the ones that day had streusel topping. I'll definitely keep checking back as flavors rotate and new ones appear. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a coconut custard to make an guest appearance! read more

This was their Grand Opening. Packed!!! They gave away a slice of pie and coffee or hot chocolate. Cute place with seating around the bakery displays and a few seats up in the balcony. This has been a anticipated bakery in Forest City since the announced their opening almost a year ago. They will serve coffee, espresso, latte, hot tea with pies,by the slice or whole, cheesecakes, specialty cakes, muffins, scones, cookies , cinnamon buns and breads. This is my Wife's favorite place in forest city. I honestly don't really eat pie/cake but my wife , and anyone we bring here loves everything! We drive from Asheville to Pie Safe just for the raspberry almond muffins and the coconut cream pie. I can't explain how tasty the almond flavor is in the muffin, and I'm not usually a muffin fan. My hubby dearly loves the coconut cream pie. I tried a bite and now I'm torn. I guess next time I'll get both! The staff are very pleasant. Kind, courteous, prepared to make amends should any customer encounter an error. The owner and her staff continually go above and beyond. We used the Pie Safe for a teachers function at a local high school, they had everything ready in a timely manner and helped us out to the car. It was easy to order bulk, and made every part of the process enjoyable. Coffee is standard coffee, nothing special about it. Pie Safe does a great job serving up sweet treats in a historic downtown Forest City building. It reminds me and my wife of a small-town version of Amelie's in Uptown Charlotte and in NODA. The pies were very good, we enjoyed the Bonnie & Clyde Friday date night special (buy two slices at $3.50 each and get two regular self-serve coffees free. Cheesecakes not included.) You can get a Pie flight (three half slices for $5.50.) A whole pie will cost you $20. Lots of other bakery treats and coffees are available. If you're unfamiliar with Forest City, there's plenty of free parking available in downtown. If it's daytime, there's a bookstore not far away, in walking difference. There are also plenty of nearby restaurants for dinner before or after your dessert. We encourage you to check this place out and support local business! read more
