Delicious food and beautiful presentation. I had the lamb--half rack and my husband had the catch of the day.

You often hear the phrase "hidden gem". Jerry's is that type of restaurant. In s strip mall right nest to a Domino's pizza, you have really no desire to go further. that would be a bad decision. Step inside to t top notch dining experience. A great staff and a nice dining room are great but the food is the star. Local selections of fish and fowl and meat prepared in a perfect fashion are on the menu. From apps to dessert, you will be blown away. Each preparation is gourmet quality. Great wine list and full service bar. Super place for that "special evening" but don't wait just for that . Jerry's has made our top 5 for the wilmington area. read more

Wonderful place. Love the ambiance and service is excellent. The food is exquisite. Get the duck!

Easily the best fine dining restaurant in Wilmington. I went for the first time last night for my birthday and the experience was Michelin star class from start to finish. Our server was one of the most professional, knowledgeable, and attentive servers I've ever had and truly elevated our dinner! I was extremely impressed. The food was absolutely spectacular. We ordered almost all of the starters and each one was amazing. We especially loved the tuna tartare and the eggplant. Portions were very large! Our entrees were all extremely delicious. Great homemade pasta, perfectly cooked fish. I can't believe this place doesn't get more hype. It deserves it! read more

Y'all I have loved Jerry's since my first time years ago and it was a hidden gem, HOWEVER something in the last two years has changed. I brought my parents here and it was mediocre service and food and limited menu with covid, I chalked it up to a bad experience. I came back today and, once again, super disappointed. Our server was a bit unknown to menu items. The Brussels were unseasoned and the sauce tasted like it had no flavor, we asked for salt at one point to try and recover some flavor. The tuna was my entree and the potatoes tasted like they were made from a packet, it was supposed to come with asparagus and came with collard greens? Or something, and the crab cake on top was completely burnt underneath and was advertised a horseradish crab cake and a hint of horseradish is nice, great flavor, however this one was like eating horseradish from the jar. Once I called out the side mistake they brought asparagus even though I said no, and that was burnt and unflavored/seasoned as well. Not sure what's going on back in the kitchen, but I'm not sure I'll give this place another go, which sucks because it used to be a favorite and highly recommended to friends and family who visit out of town. I guess for a restaurant of this caliber and review AND a limited menu, I expect to walk out with my tastebuds exploding and stellar service. read more

After visiting many places throughout Wilmington, Jerry's has been the most delicious surprise! When we first pulled up, we debated leaving as the restaurant is the corner area of a shopping mall with wooden blinds pulled down and a dark dated sign. Peeking through the front glass door all we could see was the full bar to the left of the entrance. Based on Yelp photographs, we took a chance and I am so happy we did! Upon entry, bar goers are ushered to the left for the full bar while dinner guests are guided right to a quiet sit down area containing fully decorated tables with fresh flowers, a candle, and a proper dinner utensil set up. Jerry's wine lost spans from common wines available at your local grocery store to wines one would buy for a monumental event. We selected a Beringer Cab Sav for our meal and were amazed with the excellent service etiquette! Few wait staff know how to properly serve a bottle of wine to a table but our waiter knew everything from cork placement to tasting sip and full pour order. With our wine we received a list of the continued menu items in addition to a verbal run down of the chef specials. We chose a Chef Special Pulled Beef with Chipotle cream sauce appetizer which was a great start to our meal. Perfectly cooled moist beef went beautifully with the hint of spice from the sauce! I appreciated the sauce being placed on the side since my partner in crime prefers his food a few degrees hotter than I do. For entrees, we selected the Goat Crusted Grouper entree and the Horseradish and Crab Yellowfin Tuna. When ordering your entree, keep in mind they offer full plate with 8 oz. of protein plus a soup or salad and half plate with 4 oz. of protein. When chosing a full portion entree, you would be cheating yourself if you do not order the Blue Cheese dressing. I have an abnormal dislike for Blue Cheese, but their in house Blue Cheese dressing may turn me into a believer! Our entrees were both amazing with the Goat Cheese Crusted Grouper serving as a fresh bright flavor and the Horseradish Crab Yellowfin Tuna having a soft bite from the horseradish with savory aspect from the crab. I would order both again but when given the option, Jerry's Horseradish and Crab Yellowfin Tuna entree wins! Horseradish can occasionally be overwhelming in a meal but the chef has the ratios down to a science allowing the other components of the dish to shine while the horseradish serves it's purpose as a flavor enhancer instead of a meal killer. For dessert, it would be a tragedy to visit Jerry's and not have their famous Vanilla Bean Cheesecake! I have consumed my fair share of Vanilla Cheesecake but most are heavy and add so much weight to an already full tummy. Jerry's Vanilla Bean Cheesecake is fresh and flavorful without being heavy! In the perfect portion size and taste, the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake fills guests up just enough to satisfy your appetite without requiring a wheelbarrow to return to your vehicle. Whether you are looking to spoil a loved one, date night, treating the in laws, a special occasion, or just because you want amazing food, add Jerry's to your list. Your taste buds and your dinner guests will thank you! read more

Out of towners found a table for two here through OpenTable. Pulled up in the parking lot and thought maybe this wasn't what we were looking for as non-descript would define the strip mall it's in. Glanced through the window and thought let's give it a shot. Glad we did. Pleasant room. Great cocktail served to start. Superb service. Fabulous food. Spouse's scallops were sublime and my duck the same. I think this is my first five-star review here and well deserved. Highly recommended. Reservations suggested. read more

I'm sad it took me so long to visit this place. The food was delicious. The pork chop was moist and well cooked. The garlic topping I chose (one of 7 or 8) pushed it over the top. Also enjoyed the chicken parmigiana. A healthy portion with choice of side. It will now be a frequent stop for us. read more

My husband and I have been to Jerry's twice, both times on a Saturday, and both times without a reservation. I don't recommend this practice because Jerry's is a small restaurant that gets packed quickly. However, Jerry and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. Did I mention we were dressed casually too? Didn't matter, everybody there couldn't have been more gracious. The first time we went, we ate at the bar, and Jerry chatted with us until our food arrived. He is a lot of fun and very interesting, so if you ever get the chance, chat him up. My food was so good (warm crab cocktail and the beef short ribs), I ordered it all again the next time we went. That second time, there were no places at the bar and no tables available. We arrived around 6:30 and the reservations were lining up and the place was hopping. Even the bar was reserved! The manager/bartender immediately improvised and offered us the table right by the kitchen entrance, and we gratefully accepted. Let me mention a couple of things....1) the table had magazines on it, so it wasn't really a dining table, and 2) after working all day outside and thinking we were going someplace else for dinner, we may have looked a little raggedy. Neither mattered to Jerry's staff. From the manager to the hostess to the other servers--they were all so nice and tried very hard to make us comfortable. We were tickled that they would let us dine at this improvised table, and there were a lot of curious glances from much better dressed patrons lining up to come into the restaurant. And the food....oh the food. The short ribs were amazing again. My husband got a bacon-wrapped steak...? Maybe? I don't know, because after fighting over the warm crab cocktail (why can't he just get his own?? why do I have to share??), I face planted into my dinner and didn't pay any attention to his. But he loved it. So the first time I took my short ribs to go and we had dessert, which I don't remember but am sure it was wonderful. This last time, my dinner would have to be pried from my cold dead hands (it came with broccoli and a truffled mac 'n cheese), so I was stuffed by the end of dinner. The drinks were good as well. This time we opted for cocktails, and those were mixed perfectly. Last time we had wine in addition to cocktails, and I remember it being very nice. read more

Always a pleasure to dine at Jerry's. My only wish is that loud Northerners could be banned from the establishment. This place almost predates I-40 ... back when Wilmington was pleasant and not overrun by transplants. read more

A solid 3 stars. Worth trying, but likely will not return. Ambiance: -yes, inside of a strip mall next to dominoes, however, the inside is very cute with an intricate woodworked wall panel, candles, and fresh flowers -small space, tables are VERY close together -my husband and I were the youngest couple there, by 30 years... aside from the one family with their grandchildren... This alone took away from the romance/date night level of the restaurant for us Service: -fast, friendly, no complaints here Drink: very impressive wine selection! Can be by the glass or bottles. They had something from every day table wine to $250 bottles Food: Warning! Entree portions are massive... We had two of the nightly specials: -soft shell crab -- southern fried, and delicious -braised short rib -- fall off the bone delightfulness, with a side of baked mac n' cheese, holy cow!! Regular menu: -wasabi/crab stuffed yellowfin tuna -- really where I took off a star -- too much wasabi, overwhelming the fish. Tried the tuna alone without the stuffing, and it lacked any flavor. Was just, eh read more

Jerry's - New American Near Me - Wilmington, North Carolina

Such a nice hidden gem! Wonderful food! Do not let the outside fool you. We will definitely go back

Located in a strip mall next to Domino's Pizza, Jerry's is an unexpected find! It is a cozy little place that is great for an anniversary, birthday, or a night out with your sweetheart and a meal to remember. I recommend the Fried Goat Cheese Medallion served over baby greens with buttered baguette, walnuts and an apple cider & sun-dried cherry syrup as a bright appetizer with Devils Lair, Margaret River Chardonnay. The entree selection was difficult but I ended up with the Pepper Seared Duck Breast over sweet potato hash, with stewed apples, toasted pecans & spinach finished with a whole grain mustard sauce. Fabulous! I love duck and find it rarely done right...Jerry's succeeded. Jerry's has an excellent wine list and the waitstaff was attentive...something I harp about extensively as Wilmington is the epicenter of decent food and lousy service. I highly recommend Jerry's and hope you enjoy your meal as much as I did! read more

Only 2 other reviews for this amazing place??? Well, glad to see we all agree with the 5 stars all around. I came here twice while I was staying in Wilmington for a month and LOVED it each time. Their calamari was AMAZING. The quail was amazing. The potato thing that came with the steak- amazing. The croissant rolls? Yes- amazing. Cannot believe this place is in a strip mall!!! I would have never even noticed it had it not been for a drug rep dinner there! I have been spoiled by the luxurious restaurants while living in Chicago, but I've got to say, Jerry's is just something else. I am SO excited to come back to Wilmington and take my husband here! OH - and the service??? you guessed it... :) read more

Horseradish and crab topped yellowfin tuna is to die for! I eat here every time i come to Wilmington.

This is a go-to place if you want classic food. Nothing fancy. Big portions. Personal service. Jerry's is located in a strip mall just before the Wrightsville Beach bridge- next to Dominoes. When you enter, bar is on your left. The bar is a throwback to the 70's- mirrors on all sides- so you don't know where to look. Wine by the glass is not adventurous- but it's solid with a good mix of California, French and Italian wines. Full bar. There are about a dozen appetizers and salads for starters. The homemade soup is always seasonal and delish. A bread basket with hot slices of bread and butter are always put on the table. If you order a dinner, a side salad comes with. What I love about Jerry's is that you can ask the waiter for substitutions and it's not a big deal. Steak, duck, fish and lamb dishes are excellently cooked and portions are big. Sides are classic- i.e. broccoli, mashed potatoes, etc. Desserts offered include key lime pie and a flourless chocolate cake. The service is what makes this place earn 4 stars. The staff is attentive and enjoy what they do. Many have worked at Jerry's for decades. If you want a classic night out with dependable food and a menu that satisfies everyone, Jerry's is a great option. Reservations recommended- especially in the summer! read more

This was about the sixth time we have been to Jerry's. The food does not get any better than this. Fresh baked bread, incredible entrees, reasonably priced wine, incredible dessert. Great restaurant. Tonight's special was red snapper with creamed corn, pork belly and kale. One of the best red snapper meals ever! Service was impeccable. Love Reece. These days, most everyone uses the internet to see the menu before going - I did because of food restrictions. I was so impressed and eager to go back... I had not been there in a while. The menu I received was NOT REMOTELY like the one online!! I was mad - I specifically picked Jerry's to celebrate my birthday because of their reputation and the online menu. Ate the crab cocktail ..my husband had the very ordinary shrimp appetizer - and we left - too pricey and just so- so. PLEASE get someone to update your online menu!! It is extremely deceiving...... read more

Had a date night with the husband last night while the grandparents baby-sat, so we decided to give Jerry's a try. I had been once before ages ago, husband had not. Shocked to find they had a reservation available same day, this is not the case during the summer months. Always a good sign when you want everything on the menu. We started with the scallops appetizer... sadly the only seafood my seafood-hating husband will eat. They were three nice sized properly pre-pared scallops. What I didn't like what that our waitress cleared the main plate while I was still eating my scallop, taking with it a lot of the yummy corn that came with it. I really don't enjoy having dishes cleared mid-bite. It makes me feel rushed. When spending more than 100 bucks on a dinner, I don't want to feel rushed. I want to be able to talk with my husband, sip my wine, slowly eat my dinner. I do like that many of the entrees come in half portion options. I got the half portion of the goat cheese grouper and it was just the right amount of dinner. The fish was well prepared and I enjoyed the asparagus and grilled tomato. Husband got the chateaubriand. He said it was good. Both of our entrees were served over mashed potatoes. They looked odd, almost like instant potatoes. Which clearly I know that they were not. But the color and texture was odd to us. Husband really liked the warm bread and butter. Maybe a different kind of potato. So food was 4 stars for us (minus the potatoes). Service was maybe 3.5. We were in and out in an hour.... way too fast for three courses (appetizer, salad, entree) at a nice restaurant in my opinion. read more

Hands down the best food in Wilmington. The food AND staff are beyond amazing and deserve as many stars as you can get. There is nothing better than old school when old school delivers. Jerry's does from top to bottom. Comfortable dining room. Classic menu. Great cocktails. Not trying to be anything it hasn't been for twenty-five years. Our server Ken steered us through the menu and his suggestions were perfect. Warm lump crab app, fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese, fried seafood, grouper, rack of lamb, chateaubriand, all perfectly prepared. Clean plates all around. Service couldn't have been better. Will definitely be back. read more

The outside appearance belies a culinary treasure. I highly, highly, highly recommend the rosemary lamb tenderloins. I don't even like lamb (but I sure do love meat) and it absolutely blew me away. Arriving in Wilmington NC searching for a nice restaurant, I found this place on Yelp. Being from the Washington DC area we are a bit jaded regarding restaurants, especially ones in strip malls. However we took the plunge and oh how we were so surprised. The server was great and the food was sterling. My husband got his standard filet and was pleasantly surprised and did not engage in conversation until his entire steak was consumed!!! I ordered seared wahoo with baby bok choy, black rice and wasabi cream.....Yum! The table setting was what u would expect in a larger venue: candles, crystal and modern candlelight. Can't say enough about Kathy, Julia and Craig as servers. You really must go and b prepared for being pleasantly pleased. read more
