Witz Roofing - After Owens Corning, Duration Slatestone Gray shingles installed by Witz Roofing

Witz Roofing

We proactively replaced our current 24 year old roof using the Consumer Reports recommended Owens…read moreCorning Duration shingles. I recommend Frank Witz without hesitation because 1) He is a Saratoga Springs native with over 30 years of roofing expertise 2) He is an Owns Corning preferred roofer and therefore offered the Owens Corning transferable 50 year warranty for our new roof, which includes full labor for the first 10 years. At $400 extra cost, this warranty seemed reasonable to us because having it will likely increase our home's future resale value. 3) Two of our neighbors were pleased with the cost and reroofing results using Frank's service within the last month, and I was informed by one of them that Frank is the roofer of choice some of our area home builders. 4) Frank's written estimate included everything (clean up and haul away old roofing) and he was able to schedule our job within two weeks of placing our order. There were no cost overages. Frank reasonably asked for only 1/3 down by check on the day the job started with the balance to be paid after completion. He capped a white PVC plumbing exhaust vent pipe for which I provided the ventilated cap at no extra charge. 5) Athough our neighbors homes were completed in one day (with a rain delay on one of them) our roof is larger with a more complex design and took two days straight. Fortunately the rain held off, but each day had record temperatures reaching over 100° real feel! Frank assured me that his workers were used to working under those extreme conditions. He used a team of workers of Ecuadorian Indigenous extraction who were short in stature but amazingly strong, who Frank assured me were US citizens. Despite the extreme heat, they worked relentlessly, only taking hydration and lunch breaks, from the time they arrived just before 7 AM until early evening the first day and until the job was completed by late afternoon on the second day. They protected our outside patio furniture, grill, HVAC unit, and home generator with large mesh. The job site cleanup was good including using magnets to remove stray roofing nails from our lawn. They left a small pile of garbage adjacent to our driveway that Frank removed within two days of job completion. Frank returned for a walk around to examine the job and be paid the balance four days after job completion. The only concern I had was that there were some openings located between the shingles and the vinyl ceiling beneath the eaves where the "bird boxes" or "returns" on the roof were located. He told me he would have "one of his guys" stop by within a week to seal these openings to prevent wasps and birds from nesting in these areas. They returned the next business day and sealed all the openings to my satisfaction. Less than two weeks after the job was completed, epic thunderstorms with torrential rains associated with area tornadoes barreled through our town and there were no roof leaks. The Slatestone Gray color we chose has a three dimensional appearance and perfectly matched our siding and 24 year old vinyl shutters. With the new roof, our home has more "curb appeal" than it did when it was originally built! Bottom line: If you need a roof call Frank Witz.

I could not be more pleased with the work his crew did. The on-sight Forman Carlos insured that all of my concerns were addressed, and he and the crew did an exceptional job. They arrived on time, worked until after dark, came back early the next morning and finished the job. They were very polite, did a great job cleaning during and after the job, and again I couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism and the house looks great. I highly recommend Frank Witz, Witz Roofing for your roofing needs.

I needed someone with knowledge of soffit repair who also had the ability and appropriate equipment…read moreto safely mount my garage roof to access and repair an opening in the soffit of the eave of the second floor roof. Got that? Among the coupons in the Consumer Pak that came in the mail was one for Saratoga Roofing. It said they also did siding in addition to roofing. I figured that might give them an advantage. I called, talked to a real person, and explained what my problem was. I was informed that their estimator, Oleg, would be contacting me to schedule a visit. I received the call from Oleg not more than 30 minutes later. He was able to schedule a visit later that same day. When Oleg arrived, we reviewed the work that needed to be done. Taking advantage of his presence and knowledge, I pointed out a less urgent problem with the soffit in a different section of the house, and a concern I had with some siding at a third location. He assured me that the two soffit problems could be fixed and that I did not need to be concerned about the siding issue. We then agreed upon a price to do the soffit repairs. I was next actually surprised to see that Oleg was prepared to do the repairs right then and there. He unloaded the necessary ladders, tools, and equipment to safely scale the garage roof and fix my major problem. With that section of soffit resolved he moved to the other side of the house and realigned and secured the other soffit. I can't be more pleased with the service, promptness, and work performed by Saratoga Roofing. Oleg was very personable and a pleasure to work with.

First off - roof replacement by a responsible contractor is going to be expensive. That's a fact -…read morejust deal with it. We got prices from three contractors and they were all within a fairly narrow window. We chose Saratoga Roofing primarily based on the quality of the roof inspection. Igor appeared to know what he was talking about, and pointed out both positive and negative things about our old roof that other estimators either didn't see or didn't think was important. We had originally agreed on a date for the work, but then that called to ask if they could move the work forward a few days to avoid a possible weather situation. The crew started arriving at 6:15am and were hard at work by 7am - and they completed the project by 7pm and did a great job of cleaning up. And that was on a day that got well into the 90s. They brought in a large crew - I didn't actually count heads, but there must have been at least 12-15 people. And the way they worked together was amazing to watch - at one point I noted to my wife that it was almost like ballet as they complemented each other. Our roof is complicated - peaks and valleys, and fairly steep. So the bottom line is that we were very pleased with the work they did. I'm sure that there are contractors who might have been less expensive, but this is a job that hopefully we never have to get done again, so I would rather pay a bit more to get it done right.

Lifetime Seamless Gutters

Outstanding Experience from Start to Finish…read more I recently hired Lifetime Seamless Gutters to install a full gutter system with gutter guards on my two-story, 5,000 sq. ft. home with a metal roof. From the very first visit, I was thoroughly impressed. Peter came out to do the initial estimate--he spent over 45 minutes carefully measuring, inspecting, and answering all my questions, including detailed discussions about installing heat cables to prevent ice dams. He was knowledgeable, patient, and thorough, which immediately put me at ease. Given the size and structure of my home, I was initially nervous about how well a gutter system would integrate with a metal roof. But I was pleasantly surprised by the results. The very next day, a well-organized crew of 8 professionals led by Tim arrived with two trucks. They worked hard for nearly 10 hours and completed about 90% of the project in just one day. The team returned the next day to finish the final touches and make adjustments, especially after a rainstorm allowed us to see the system in action. Everything functioned flawlessly. From start to finish, the service was top-notch. Tony (the owner), Peter (the manager), and Tim (the team leader) were all professional, courteous, and committed to quality. The crew cleaned up so thoroughly, you wouldn't even know major work had just been done. I give Lifetime Seamless Gutters a solid 5 stars for their professionalism, craftsmanship, and customer care. Highly recommended! -- Frank A. Saratoga Springs, NY

Let me start off with this..... I did not know this company existed prior to calling them. I had…read moreasked a friend about if he knew anyone and Anthony of Lifetime Gutters was recommended. What we were looking for are Gutter Guards to help remove that bi-yearly chore of removing leaves from the gutters. I had done a lot of research into the different types available. I received an estimate from one place, next day he calls dropping $800 off. An hour later someone else called from that company telling me a yet lower price, another $250 off. Then the first guy calls back asking if I wanted to move forward. I told him someone else had given me a cheaper price from his company and he had no idea. This triggered my brain to say "Sorry but I'm not going to do anything with your company at all". So now I hear about Lifetime and call Anthony. He called me back the same day, came over the next day with an estimate. His estimate was what I call reasonable for the work to be done. Unfortunately I had to wait about a month due to family matters and finally called him back on a Friday. He told me that he could arrange to have it done the following week. On Tuesday morning he called and asked if we were ok with doing it that day. Out came Anthony #2 to handle the installation. He was fast and extremely friendly and in a few hours time the gutter guards were installed. My final reason for going with this company was the guards are made out of aluminum with a stainless steel mesh on top. The others I looked at were made of plastic with the mesh. My life's experiences have shown that plastic gets brittle when left out in the sun & bad weather, I prefer the all aluminum ones. My experiences with this company have been just fantastic! Oh, one last thing... Lifetime Warantee... not much can go Wrong with all metal.
