Today I ordered fried snapper as a sit in diner and was told for $26 the meal came only with rice no cabbage. I asked the waitress why and she told me cabbage was for take out only?? I was so happy to finally find a restaurant that serves jerk pork like the Jerk Hut in Montego Bay. This is definitely the spot for tasty Jamaican cuisine. Desserts are also available for purchase. There are options for both dine-in and takeout. The staff was very nice and answered questions well. I ordered brown stew chicken, jerk pork and oxtails. Everything tastes great. I ordered a kids meal that could easily feed an adult. All of the food was packaged well and the portions were filling. Stopped by this restaurant specifically to get some Jamaican patties and also ended up getting a slice of rum cake. The patties were good, not too spicy but still had a mild kick. The rum cake was not my favorite, very dense and not much rum flavor. Also for the ~$5 they charge the slice you get is extremely small, about half the size of any other cake slice. read more

The jerk is really good. Make sure sure to ask for extra jerk gravy on the side. This is on spot that also has Coco Bread. A lot of Caribbean spots around Tampa never have Coco bread. They also have good beef patties. Most places the beef patties are dry from sitting out all day. But these beef patties were nice and fresh. After having a poor experience at the jerk hut, my friend and I decided to give the jerk pit a try. When we walked in the service with Anika hands down was absolutely amazing. We told her of our experience and how we found this place and she went out of her way to ensure we had a more positive experience here. I had the curry goat which tasted like I was back in Ocho Rios. So delicious. My friend had the jerk steak and stated that it was absolutely delicious. Hands down I would visit this place again. I haven't had much Jamaican food before trying this spot, but one night I wanted something different from my usual and found another go-to dish of mine. I have always ordered the Jerk Pork because it's a winner every time. The pork is tender and juicy, and along with the sweet sauce that comes with it, the rice and vegetables all come together. Once I start eating it, I can't stop! The restaurant itself is small, and brightly decorated standing out from any other business surrounding it. I've never dined in but it would be a good place to sit and eat with your friends. I read a couple of reviews saying the cashier was rude or unattentive, but every time I've come in she has stopped what she's doing to get my food quickly.
