First off let me preface this review by saying it gives me no pleasure to potentially sabotage somebody's credibility as a professional but when you are in a line of work that impacts people on such a critically personal level then I feel it is my duty to share my experience.
Like most people who seek counseling I was somewhat desperate. I had never been to a counselor before and had no idea what to expect. However, after a couple of months I began to suspect deeply that Jeremy had no idea how to "treat" me. True to my apathetic nature I chose to ignore this nagging conviction and continue on hoping for the best. After all, I'd already told him my life story essentially and I didn't want to start over unnecessarily with someone else. Yet visit after visit I left more irritated and less confident in his abilities. He seemed to be picking from a list of "textbook" diagnoses prodding me with random questions hoping that I would answer one in a way that could confirm the potential assessment. Often times he would have me embark on some assignment or task and then completely disregard it upon completion. There is no direction in his treatment. No set course. No method. And to top it all off he always appeared to be waking up from a nap upon my arrival. He was tired and spacey and unfocused. Seeking treatment from him is on par with talking to one of your friends or a complete stranger at a bar. Everyone has good intentions, but that doesn't mean they are competent. I've been seeing a new counselor and the experience is a world of difference. Sorry Jeremy. You're a nice guy but you need to tighten up your game or pursue something else. read more
