I figured I'd go to the big box store (not Home Depot as I'm boycotting) but got diverted to Ace because of flooding. Checked them out and figured I'd do a price check by heading to the other place. Lo and behold, Ace was comparable in price and had a better selection. This wasn't the first time I went to Ace either. They beat the price for a garbage disposal by $50 just a week previous. This location is well stocked and has friendly help. They also have a bbq supply place attached that has some cool stuff. I've even bought my stocking stuffers here in the past. I highly, highly recommend this location. Parking is available in the back for those who are afraid of trying to find a spot. Great option for your hardware needs.

I was looking in bins, just because. They had fasteners, I hadn't seen before, but now I know they exist when I need that certain something in a particularly hard project. The open stock round bins brought a smile on my face as I remembered those bins as a kid going with my grandfather to the hardware store. Alas it was a trip down memory lane, but a modern day open stock hardware island.

He went to confirm the answer with the owner and was immediately talked down to. After hearing this, I approached the owner directly to ask the same question myself and unfortunately received the same condescending attitude. It's also worth noting that there are no prices listed on items, which makes shopping unnecessarily frustrating, and if you need to return anything--unused or opened--good luck. It's disappointing to see workers treated this way, and it explains why there seems to be constant staff turnover. Customer service starts with how employees are respected, and sadly, that's lacking here. Despite the longer commute, I'll be taking my business to the other hardware store on the island moving forward.

The man who helped me was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. He asked the right questions, quickly understood the situation, and guided me to exactly what I needed. I mentioned my 87-year-old dad was visiting and I was trying to fix it before he tried to climb a ladder himself--he completely got it and made sure I left with a solid plan. I like that they have the big carts to transfer wood and big materials. It definitely came in handy and I was able to transport wood easily to my truck. The only thing I was not happy with is that no one asked if I needed any assistance and there were several employees at the entrance just standing around. Good thing I brought assistance with me.
