To say that I was hesitant is an under statement. At first I couldn't find the salon because it's actually called Jacobs hair salon. I had booked an appointment with Sara, I explained to Sara what cut I wanted sadly she wasn't able to give me that cut due to my hair being straight on top and curly mid scalp. I wanted to bring out as many of my curls out as possible (I love my curls) So Sara went to work in the most unconventional way that I have ever experienced (it was new to me) I don't think Sara used a comb or a brush, she started cutting and I had my fingers crossed under the cape. Long story short, I LOVED what Sara had done to my hair, exactly what I had asked for. I left super happy, I didn't want to write a review until I had been able to style my own hair. I will be back for sure, maybe sooner than later because I want bangs to go with this great cut.

I made a reservation here because my hair is wavy/curly and I find that the average men's barber shop always cuts it too short. Wanted to try something different and saw this place specializes in curls. I waited about 5 mins after arriving before I got in a chair. My stylist, Sara, did a great job. I showed her a photo and I really don't think she could have matched it any closer. She was kind and attentive throughout the process and made sure things were going in the desired direction. Super pleased with the results. I will definitely be back.

A BUTCHER CUT BY ALLAN PARSS…read more If you value your hair, stay far away. I went in for a simple trim and left with what is, without question, the worst haircut of my life. Allan aggressively razored my hair, removed an unbelievable amount of density, and created short, choppy layers that I never asked for. Throughout the appointment my hair was positioned in a way that prevented me from seeing what was actually being done until it was too late. Now, over 8 weeks later, my hair is still a disaster. The ends are frayed, shredded, and breaking. It genuinely looks as though a weed whacker was taken to it. My hair had thickness, length, and health before this appointment. Now it looks damaged, uneven, and lifeless. Yes, he refunded the haircut. But a refund does not give me my hair back. I would have gladly paid thousands of dollars to avoid this experience altogether. What makes this even worse is what happened afterward. When I left an honest review describing my experience, Allan attempted to pressure me into removing it. After I repeatedly requested that no video of me be posted, a video was uploaded anyway. Instead of showing any understanding for the damage caused, I received emails telling me I should be happy with the result. Imagine being told to be grateful after your hair has been completely destroyed. I have never written a review like this before. In fact, I rarely leave reviews at all. But I wake up every day frustrated and upset over what happened to my hair. Unless I spend significant time styling it, it looks terrible. If this review prevents even one person from experiencing what I did, then it is worth writing. I asked for a trim. What I received was a butchered, over-razored, mullet-like haircut that removed years of growth and density in a single appointment. Without question, the biggest hair regret of my life. I left a before photo and several after photos so people can judge for themselves. You can clearly see how badly my hair was butchered. Weeks later, every stylist who gives me a blowout asks why I have so many choppy, uneven pieces throughout my hair. I explain that Allan Parss aggressively razored my hair, leaving it uneven and difficult to work with. My hair is now so inconsistent in length that styling it has become a challenge. I went in for a simple trim with long layers and left with what can only be described as a mullet. The excessive razor cutting created short, disconnected pieces throughout my hair that will likely take a year or more to fully grow out. Imagine getting your hair cut short and it being unhealthy months later because a stylists razored the life out of your hair. I always get asked for beauty advice and I always say avoid this place to anyone I know. Added photos of the state of my hair about 3 months after Allan's hack job. Please don't let this man touch your hair.

Wow, Liz and Sumi certainly worked their magic on my hair. My appointment started out with a thorough consultation to understand my hair type, my face type and how I style my hair on a daily basis. Then, we proceeded to a trim to the side of my head and at the back of my head. Sumi asked lots of great questions and walked through every step of the process to make sure I was aware of the procedures and communicated what was going on, which I really did appreciate. Then, we proceeded to the application of the solution which was pretty cool as it was 3-person teamwork project to apply solution while putting my hair into curls. It was actually a fun experience. The final reveal of my hair was amazing. I was in awe of how my dull and boring thick black horn could look naturally shaped with the curls. The style was clean and smart and the staff provided helpful tips to ensure that I can maintain my look for a long-term basis. I highly recommend this spot if this is your first or ongoing perm appointment. It was one of the most pleasant experiences, especially for this person who does not like sitting in a chair for long periods of time.

You would be surprised how many salons/stylists out there say they're confident in managing textured Asian hair and really don't know what they're talking about. I have never left a salon fully happy. After a lot of research, I reached out to Morph on Yelp and decided to give them a try... And I've never looked back. I go to Peter and he will always be my go-to. He gives you insight on the condition of your hair, what kind of products you should use, and teaches you how to style your own hair at home to make it easy for you to upkeep. He also recommended styles that fit with my hair's texture and length, and what looks best for my face. I like that they also don't oversell you on the products they use - they know the products they have are on the more expensive side. The service you get here is great - there's someone to help take your jacket and put it away, and the brief head massages you get while they wash your hair is heavenly! I was only going for a wash, cut & dry so I honestly didn't expect to be long... and I wasn't. Thankfully, I was in and out within the hour. I didn't find the prices to be expensive, in fact, I was surprised at how low they were compare to where I normally go. However... I certainly did NOT receive a fantastic cut nor did I experience any styling abilities that I would consider to be above par. Luckily though, I only had to wait 10 minutes sitting in the chair unattended with soaking wet hair. As a new customer, I think Nick honestly did try to focus on my hair and discuss various options with me but it seemed as though, with every 'regular' customer that walked through the door, his focus quickly shifted to them instead. I have long, curly hair with long layers and was looking to add a little more 'bounce' to my curls. The layers that were cut throughout the back are fine however, I was left with an odd layer that was cut into the front which has left me looking as though I'm trying to grow out my bangs... which I don't have... Or didn't have... I don't know what I have anymore! The next day when I tried to style it myself, it was a colossal failure! I typically just diffuse my hair and go - not quite the case anymore! I had no option but to run to the store and purchase the essential tools so that I could force my hair into submission! It's going to take a long time to grow this out. :(

The disagreement escalated into a genuine argument, and I ended up in tears and had to leave. What makes this worse: they wasted 40 minutes of my 2-hour appointment on this back-and-forth before deciding they weren't ready to do what I wanted -- and then blamed the lack of remaining time as the reason. I did show up for my appointment. Despite that, the salon charged me the full $200 CAD cancellation fee, coding it as a "no-show." I disputed the charge with Amex and explained exactly what happened, including the 40 minutes I was present and the fact that the salon itself ran out the clock. Amex sided with the salon and I was charged the $200 anyway. I would not recommend Tocci Salon. If you go, be aware that if a stylist decides mid-appointment not to do your service, you may still be billed as if you never showed up.
