Did a fine work with a basic job, would have given more stars based on that alone. But he cancelled another project without letting me know. Very poor business practice. read more

Exceptional home architect. Exquisite designs not usually found anywhere else. While living in…read moreSmyrna,Georgia, we were very fortunate to find our home in a neighborhood filled with Traditional, Old World homes all designed and built by Dan Olah. Each home reminded one of the exteriors of Classic, almost European design. The interiors were gorgeous with attention to detail was carried throughout the two story home. Added specialties included a Loft which provided a huge room for watching big screen television with enough comfortable room for a large sofa and chair. The extra storage room off the Loft was perfect for all our things we needed to store indoors. From the kitchen leading into the formal dining room there was a Butler's Pantry with ample space for storing China and Crystal for convenience. We had a difficult time finding a home similar to our Olah home when we were reassigned to San Antonio, TX. There are No homes like Olah designs except for those historical mansions built by millionaires years ago. The interiors of these old mansions seem to have inspired Dan Olah. Of course newer homes are simply not built like those in the past. We finally settled in a gated community designed and built by an excellent builder in San Antonio but it doesn't compare to our Olah designed home in Smyrna. I wish more builders would appreciate the Traditional Style of older homes. The interiors could be vastly improved with all the details used by Dan Olah. The overall value of our home virtually doubled in three years. It was a great investment and the house sold within a week.

I called Mike, the Marine with A Hammer, and was immediately impressed with his professionalism. He asked thoughtful questions about the job details to ensure he would not waste time on the clock. He arrived at my house at the appointed time with a can do attitude. No job was too small. He approached each task as a perfectionist would but did not get bogged down. He completed so much in the four hours he was with us! His fee was more than reasonable and his quality impeccable. He comes across as a good person, someone I would trust to be in my home. He's now stored in my phone and I'll endorse him to anyone in need of a handyman.

We were referred to Tristate Maintenance Group for restoration work after some water damage. They…read morewere kind enough to show up promptly to our home for an estimate, but told us it would take a week to receive it. Two weeks later, I had to follow up with Robert Philbeck, who then sent us an outrageous $8K quote. The scope of work was extremely simple: patch up some drywall and reset a cabinet. For comparison, multiple other contractors reviewed the same scope and estimated less than $2K for everything. What made the experience even more frustrating was the two-week delay, wasting valuable time only to receive an unreasonable proposal. Maybe they're better suited for larger commercial projects, but based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend them for residential work.

There was a communication issue mid-project that caused some confusion around budgeting, which made it hard for me to move forward confidently. Once escalated to Robert, his team helped clarify things and gave me a number I knew was correct. I believe if I had gone to Robert sooner, we would have finished the project by now and this would be a 5-star review. I'm confident that TSMG does not have this issue often, but it did happen to me, and once they realized that, they offered a gift card for my frustration. While I appreciated the gesture, at that moment I felt that it was not a reflection of the inconvenience I had experienced. In the end, they were helpful in closing out the project and processing a refund for the noncompleted work.
