THE BLACK AND WHITE: We originally visited their main tasting room in Fredericksburg but glad that they have their wine room in Hye (closer to us as we're coming in from Austin). Coordinates focuses on South African wines however are sourcing more and more grapes from the Texas High Plains. We had a tasting of their Reserve red wines which included the pinotage, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, and the shiraz. I'm a big pinot guy and the pinotage hit harder than the pinot, so we ordered a bottle of that and enjoyed it in their sit down area with a couple of other regulars. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall a bottle of the reserve pinotage was ~$49 with a reserve red tastings (4 wines) starting at $25. Fun ambiance and will be back to try more South African wines.

In addition to the special edition olive oils & balsamic vinegars curated for the tasting, we were allowed unlimited samples of their infused flavored olive oils as well, which were absolutely delicious! This place offers quality olive oils and balsamic vinegars at very reasonable prices. We ended up taking home several bottles- their Sola Stella, Terra Verde, & Sicilian olive oils as well as their Traditional Balsamic and Bourbon Balsamic. After the tasting we enjoyed a light lunch at their bistro, which was delightful. Farm to table, fresh food paired with a bottle of Chardonnay made for the perfect end to our experience. Highly recommend!

We also were able to taste three of their specialty balsamic vinegars, which were outstanding. I left with a bottle of their wild cherry balsamic to mix with my next old-fashioned drink at home. Their bistro serves a great menu. We sipped on their tasty wild cherry and peach sangrias (made with their balsamic vinegars) and thought that their lemon caesar salad with chicken was excellent. There was only one person working that day so he definitely had his hands full. I did have to go up to the counter whenever I was ready to try my next wine, but it actually gave me an opportunity to interact with some of the other guests and spend a little more time exploring the property. I also noticed a second building that looked like it could be rented out for parties or weddings, which would be a nice option for events. But let's talk about the wine! My tasting consisted mostly of reds, with the Cabernet Franc being the personal standout for me. Honestly all of the reds were pretty good and the only wine I tried that I didn't particularly care for was the white. For the price point and the convenience of not having to drive all the way out to Fredericksburg, Spicewood Vineyard struck the perfect balance for me for a weekend winery outing. They also have a smaller barn bar with a girly interior. Don't miss the chambongs if your group loves champagne! We did a 5-course wine tasting as part of our wine tour with Brooke's Bubble Bus. All the wines were delightful -- my only complaint was that they cleared the table too quickly and I missed a course!

Since we had already eaten breakfast, we only ordered some fries which were yum and their bread/olive oil to accompany our tasting. I love Wildseed farms because it's iconic. They have a big shop with a lot of gardening themed tools and items, and they sell plants as well. They have a cafeteria with tables and chairs that sells your standard fast food options, and they sell things like homemade salsa, jam, and of course bottles of wine in there too. The thing I like most about Wildseed: they have a path you can walk around that stretches between their vineyards and ends at a little fence facing the mass of wildflower fields that bloom in the spring with red, blue, and yellow wildflowers. If you go at the time it's in bloom, you'll be blessed with SUCH an incredible view, and all the little butterflies and bees zoom around while you walk the little trail/path. I think it's so lovely that it's been around/available to walk all these years. They do also have a little garden aspect at the beginning of the trail with a pond etc. that you can look at. It's mad cute. Definitely pay this spot a visit if you're passing through Fredericksburg!

At that time, there was nothing going on and nothing growing so we decided to come back around when spring was happening. So this time around, definitely more popular, more cars and people wanting to check the place out. Essentially I was expecting this to be more of a field of flowers. But, it's basically that (although there wasn't much of it yet, just some flowers to see) and garden decor, pots, gifts, wine, pickled things, plants and LOTS of wildflower seeds to plant at home. The plants, some were decently priced, most were a little pricier. Just depends on which ones. Majority of the ones we wanted were a little better price wise vs going to home depot, at least we think so! We walked around the adventure trail (since it was free) to get some steps in and have the kids burn some of their energy out while roaming around (minus my toddler, she would want to run away and fast haha so I changed my mind on that idea). The trail itself was open, spacious and a great way to get some fresh air. You can be lucky enough to catch some glimpses of some flowers that could be sprouting out even though there's not much! The shops: they had different types of store fronts, one for food/snack/pickled items alongside a small cafe where you can order beer and wine, another for more accessories, clothing and some planting items too! They had standing wine tasting area near the trail walking area if you want to walk around with some wine. Parking: so much parking, so definitely not to worry although I can image it being more difficult when the flowers really bloom in their field.
