The best place to get a bike! I had gone to a local store but they were a bit pushy and trying to get me to make a purchase right away. I ended up going home and researching other bike shops. Lo and behold - Bicycle Planet. I called them on the phone and they were able to tell me the inventory they had. They also answered a few questions I had about a kids bikes (this was a present for our son's birthday). I decided to take a little excursion to Syosset to check it out in person. When I got to Bicycle Planet, a guy named Diego helped me. He went over their different options and brands. The orange and blue Specialized I was looking at at the original bike shop was $80 cheaper here. All of their bikes were competitively priced. I picked out the Giant brand bike for my son because red is his favorite color. It is a beautiful and well-made bike. They were able to add on the training wheels for me since our guy is just learning how to ride, but he's getting the hang of it pretty quick. And of course - what bike would be complete without a silver bell? Once I had selected the bike, someone in the tech/assembly department spent a good 20 minutes or so inspecting the bike and ensuring its safety and that everything was in good working order. Diego brought it to my car and helped me get it into the trunk of my car - would definitely love a bike rack in the future especially for when we ride as a family because I think we all want new bikes now! Plus, Diego said that the bike purchase comes with a year of free tune-ups which is pretty sweet. The look on my son's face when we surprised him with this bole was just epic. Got there on a Saturday 4 pm. No line to get in. You had to wait a salesman to bring you in. They have good selection of bikes and they are knowledgeable about bikes. I like that they have a small part of parking lot for bike tryout. They are not selling floor models. It takes 2 weeks to pick up a bike. Return policy is 14 days as long as it's new condition. One year store warranty excludes parts. The only reason it's not 5 star is our sales experience. Our salesman wasn't there to sell. He was there to answer questions only. I had a great experience at bicycle planet. They give professional advice and I got my bike with a reasonable price. It's Giant Liv 2018. I got the one not with the disc brake because I just wanted a nice but inexpensive bike as I am not a biker. I like this one so far - it's lightweight so it's easy to handle especially for my daughter to carry in and out of the house to bike in the neighborhood. The staff is very helpful and they have the full team to help you tone the bike or fix since I believe most of their bikes come with lifetime warranty. At least mine does. I needed to buy bikes for my 7 year old girl and 11 year old boy. I wanted to go to Bicycle Planet because they have a good selection, but was hesitant because when Bicycle Planet was located on Jericho Turnpike, it had the reputation of being an overpriced bike shop with snooty salespersons who didn't want you in the store if you didn't know the difference between a Shimano and SRAM shifter. But, since I'm always open-minded, I figured I would give it a shot. I"m so glad I did. Julia, our salesperson, was upbeat and answered all our questions. She helped my kids find bikes in the price range we wanted and made sure they were the right size for them. And there was no pressure, no up-selling, and no attitude. Also, you can test ride the bikes in the parking lot right in front of the store which the kids did while Julia patiently waited. Conrad then answered some questions I had about mountain bikes. He was very knowledgeable and patiently explained to me the differences between mountain bikes in various price ranges. Finally, the manager, Howard, came over to explain various bike racks to us. He even came out to the parking lot to look at our car and see what kind would be best for us. All in all, it was a great shopping experience. Came across Bicycle Planet totally by accident, I was coming to check out Lifetime Athletic Gym and Bicycle Planet is in the same plaza. You have not been to a real bicycle store until you have been to Bicycle Planet. The store is huge and has over 100 bicycles and tons of accessories as well. Plus a full repair shop on premises. The gentleman who was helping me seemed to know everything there was about the different bikes. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He told me what the differences were with each bike and about the different models available. They have every kind of bike from starter to advanced, mountain to street and many many more. I was very disappointed with the service I received today. I followed all the rules and made an appointment and waited 2 weeks for service. when I brought my bike for the "appt" I was met outside by an extremely rude employee who told me I had to wait on line behind 6 other people and when I explained to him that I had an "appt" for 10:30 he said that doesn't matter you have to wait. I asked him why did I bother to make an "appt" then if I have to wait anyway? he told me to relax it's too early for this and I explained that in my world 10:30 isn't early and I'm already 2 hours late for work and can't wait that's why I made an "appt". I got fed up and just left. I asked why the bike I want isent good for that? Then he gets down other bikes. Again tell him what I want. He tells me three colors available. Switched guys and that one told me they only had one color available even though I was already told that they have three colors available. I really did not have a happy feeling walking out feeling lied to. The guy did adjust it and explain things well. Maybe if I got him initially would have whole diffrent experience. I love how the bikes were Nicely organized so once you knew what you wanted you had a specific place to look for it instead of just wandering around ( Like previous bike places I have gone before) We had a very good sales person who we told what we wanted and showed us all the options. He helped us get the bike into the car and showed us how to take off the wheels if we ever needed to. The price wasn't to bad I bought a very nice bike for my daughter. They let her ride it outside in the parking lot to get a feel for it and picked the one she like.They also offer free tune up for up to a year. For years I drove to the south shore to go to Brands Bike store...but Bicycle planet is closer to me. I'm training for my first Triathlon and wanted to learn how to use shoes with clips for my spin class. So I thought I would just go to Bicycle planet to get some initial info and then go to Brands to buy.. Howard was super helpful and showed me a variety of shoes, starting with the ones that were on sale. I found a great pair and was back the next week to get the peddles on my bike replaced with peddles for clips. The service was great, fast, they took my bike right away to install the new peddles. Howard actually remembered me from the previous purchase. He found a reasonably priced pair of peddles and took me out to the parking lot to provide a tutorial for how to safely use them. I love this store!! I feel like I am valued as a customer and that the staff there appreciate my business. It was also awesome that the staff and Howard were genuinely excited for me to compete in my first Triathlon. Great store, staff are good people, definitely service oriented, and show that they care about their customers' satisfaction and safety. Absolutely 200% better service that I ever got at Brands. I'm no bicycle expert, and my first bike shop experience was back in my hometown where my boyfriend at the time worked, so I honestly never had to put too much thought in to where to take my bike for a tune up. Since then, I've been to two other shops here on Long Island - one that seemed pretty disinterested in me, and another huge shop full of pretentious people who tried to sell me everything under the sun. I came into Bicycle Planet a few weeks ago for a Sunday workshop on basic bicycle maintenance, where the staff spent about two hours with us teaching us how to fix flats, how to identify wear on your bike, how often to lube up various parts on the bike, and answered tons of questions that we all had. Led by Evan (who was awesome, by the way), this workshop was a great intro or even a refresher for someone who is new to cycling or looking to get back into it. You can bring your bike in and get to actually practice these things too, which is incredibly helpful for a hands-on learner like myself. Knowing that my bike was in rough shape after years of neglect, I opted to leave my bike for a tune up after the workshop, and it was ready in just a few days. I loved that Evan was open with me and I never felt like he was pushing me to buy or upgrade to things I didn't need. I mention this because at the last bike shop I went to, I was sold hundreds of dollars of stuff I later came to realize I didn't need). Evan took the time to listen to my cycling needs/goals, and gave me tons of little tips to help me get back in on my bike. The staff over at Bicycle Planet know what they are doing. They are super helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and - most importantly for me - not pretentious. While I'm not sure that they are the cheapest place I've been to, they are by far the bike shop that I've been most comfortable in since coming to Long Island. read more

They have always been my "go to" place for service as I find their mechanics are top notch. This year, while my bike was in for a tune up, I received a call telling me my frame had a crack in it. Howard,the owner, called me the following day and explained the various scenarios that could take place. A week or so later, my warranty replacement frame arrived and Alex, a great technician and super nice, tore down my old bike and built up my "new" one. We went to a few Bike Shops on LI and our last visit was Bicycle Planet. We actually had viewed some YouTube videos of Howard the owner, explaining the different types of bikes, it was very helpful. Me and my Wife has not owned a Bike for over 10 years!! The place looked like a dealership from the outside and had one of the most premium setups we saw. It was super easy to navigate the different types of bikes and test drive them right outside in the parking lot. The Staff is superb and super knowledgable, Evan, Matt and Howard all assisted us at various times of the interaction. We ended up purchasing 2 Specialized Rolls and Matt even assisted with a Trunk Rack install which was awesome. We appreciated all the staff and the genuineness they displayed! Let me preface this by saying that I came from Queens to get my bike here. I went to a number of shops in my area, and took a flyer on this one while on my way to somewhere else on the Island. I gave them a sense of what I was looking for (a hybrid - something not top of the line, but sturdy), and they showed me a couple. I tried out the bike and Michael answered all of my questions with patience and enthusiasm. He never tried to up-sell me, and I told him I would think about it and give him a call if I planned to order it. I ended up calling back and put the order in with Conrad. I couldn't decide between two of the models. He was very helpful and again, did not pressure me either way. Finally, when I went to pick the bike up, Howard (the owner) could not have been more friendly and helpful. He spent a lot of time showing me the bike's features, watched me ride on it to make sure it was the right size and the seat's positioning was correct, and then spent a good 15 minutes (very) patiently showing me how to detach and reattach the bike's wheel. He let me know a few basic things that I should make sure to get without pressuring me to buy them there - he even talked my wife and me down from getting a bike rack for the car (we only have one bike, and it would fit over the folding seats fine). This was all while they were getting ready to close. It's 30 minutes to get to the shop from where we live, but that's absolutely worth the peace of mind knowing we were getting great guidance from a responsible dealer. This is my go-to bike shop for both buying bikes (4 bikes for me and my kids in the last 2 years) and for service, even on a bike that wasn't purchased there. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff. They shipped a bike I sold on eBay with very little effort or cost.
