I am very disappointed with my experience at Jenny Le. I usually go to a different nail salon, but my nails were desperate for a fill and Jenny Le is close to where I work so I could drop by between jobs. I did my research and Jenny Le had good reviews and could fit me in the next day. When I made my reservation I specifically asked for a UV gel fill and NOT acrylic.
The next day I came in and it was pretty busy for a Thursday at 3:00. The girl at the front desk was high school aged and spoke perfect English. I specified again that I was here for a UV gel fill, and specifically stated that I could not do acrylic. I was a little weary when she began doing my nails as she said she was only a junior in high school, but she did an okay job. It felt unprofessional to me though when she started bickering with her little sister about whether or not she owed her $5.
Halfway through drilling off the old polish, her mother took over. I explained that the tip of one of my fingers was cut off as a child and as a result the nail curls over, and when it gets too long the gel nail starts to look bad so I usually have that one nail redone every time. Of course i'm always willing to pay extra for this, but the lady refused to redo that nail and insisted that it would be fine when she was done. Her English was much poorer than her daughter's.
After finishing drilling off the polish and shaping the nail, I was transferred to a 3rd woman because the woman who had been doing my nails apparently had a more important customer. The 3rd woman began to trim down my nails and after I explained to her that the other woman had already done this, she told me they were uneven and cut them much shorter than I wanted. She then took out the acrylic powder. I pulled my hands away and told her that I could not have acrylic and I asked for gel nails. She put away the powder and pulled out an identical container that clearly said "acrylic" on the label but had "gel" written in sharpie on the top. I told her again that I wanted gel nails and she reassured me that this was gel nails. I was skeptical but allowed her to continue. When she had me dry them under the regular light and not UV I was sure that something weird was going on. I asked her again to confirm with me that the nails were not acrylic and she confirmed.
When I left, my nails looked a little sloppy, they hadn't bothered to clean them up or cut the dead skin in the corners or anything. My finger that they refused to redo looked crooked and curled like I knew it would since they refused to redo it. When i checked out they charged me the rate for gel nails which is higher than the acrylic price.
When I got home my nails started burning and turning red. I was having an allergic reaction to the nails. I had an allergic reaction to ACRYLIC powder once before which is why I switched to gel. This reaction was even more severe and I had to go to the urgent care clinic because my nails were starting to peel away from my skin.
A family member called Jenny Le the next day and explained to them what happened. They remembered who I was and claimed they used "gel powder" instead of "liquid gel". They offered to soak the nails off but would not give me a refund. I looked up "gel powder" online and found that it's just a scam and is acrylic powder (see link)!

They ripped me off and gave me something I was allergic to after I specifically requested the gel and not acrylic at least 5 times during my visit and when I made the reservation.
