Her technique weaves colors around your natural hair so as it grows out it still look great. I could go 10 to 12 weeks. I always asked why can't I just do all over color. She would tell me you won't be happy. You will see the grow out right away. Well she let me do it. It's been 4 weeks and I feel like I needed to freshen up a week ago. Well next time I see her, we will come up with a plan to transition back to low maintenance. Over time I am even thinking of transitioning to no color just to see.

The salon has a great look & feel, the front desk was kind & offered me something to drink while I waited. Which was only a few minutes. My stylist, Brittany was wonderful. I even scheduled an appointment to come back in 3 months(which I NEVER do!)

The stylist I saw has since left this salon…read more Originally I emailed Sixteen Eighty Eight through Yelp with my formula and they confirmed they were able to do it, which was great news since I've had trouble finding someone who can follow my formula in Walnut Creek. They matched me with a stylist and I came in on a particularly cold rainy day. The first issue I noted was that they didn't use heat to process, which my formula calls for. Although I've had other salons use wet heat to treat, using no heat was unusual. Beyond that, I noted the stylist would make comments where the tone sounded friendly, but the words like, "your hair is so long, do you ever cut it," were a bit rude. By the end of the visit it was clear she didn't particularly like me, but my hair looked fine under the lighting, so I tipped well and left. What followed has literally never happened to me in the four years I've gotten full root coverage. The color leeched out of my hair - as in, within a few days, all coverage was gone. I don't know what she used, but after a week it didn't look like I'd gotten my hair done at all - my best guess is that because she didn't use heat, it didn't process correctly. I just don't know. I've sat on this review trying to decide how I feel about it, but I definitely always now confirm my formula has to be processed with heat and I've gone back to my old salon in Berkeley even though it's a bit of a drive.

She's done my hair 3 times now and every time she never disappoints. She's great about giving me advice on what to do with my hair- because I struggle with knowing the next best move and how to manage it. I'm really bad at keeping up my roots so she's been great with giving me a light balayage that's blended to my roots so I don't have to worry about getting it done as often. At my last appointment I spoke with her about getting clip in extensions to wear on the weekends and she gave me a great recommendation of what hair to buy. I brought the extensions in and she color matched my hair PERFECTLY and showed me how to put them in. I've never felt so confident!! She's the most helpful and skilled hairdresser I've ever had.
