Now that they are older and should be able to consult their primary care physician on uncomfortable questions they don't want to ask their parents, we find they can't. We were told to "pick a gynecologist" if we were interested in contraception to control period symptoms. Reproductive care IS healthcare, and PAA is not only abdicating this responsibility but putting a barrier between patients and this care by requiring them to go to a specialist that their parents may not have time or money to visit. It makes patients feel like this part of their health and body is "other" and requires special effort and extra money. It's BS. This is especially surprising given PAA's stance on the HPV vaccine (see another user's review here). It's kind of understandable if they do not have the bandwidth for this, but they need to say so up front and start referring kids away from their practice at puberty. It's hard enough being born female in this world; we should ALL be able to depend on our primary care physicians to look out for ALL areas of our health and provide basic support and care before referral to a specialist. I have previous experience in another state where the doctor was all over this--asked all the hard questions and was clearly looking out for my step-daughter's care, head to toe. The only reason that this review is three stars and not one is that we HAVE gotten great care here, so if you have a boy, go for it. Sharon Menkus is particularly good, and we will miss her. She's so genuinely knowledgeable and supportive that I was really puzzled and disappointed by the wall we got when asking about reproductive care.

Also, I feel like the two doctors I've seen so far at this practice know far, far less about allergies than I do. I have allergies myself; it's a lifelong educational process. My daughter has multiple food allergies. We are seeing a different doctor next week at PAA. The receptionists are totally fine with you asking to see a different doctor, which I like. It's nice that there is a variety of people you can choose for your child's pediatrician.

There are two…read moreseparate offices, one for the actual medical clinic and the other for behavioral health/counceling. I am a patient of both and I can honestly say the entire staff are wonderful, easy to deal with and actually care about you and the services they provide. My behavioral health counselor Sarah is wonderful and so easy to talk to. She's one of those people you feel comfortable with right of the bat . You don't feel like you're in a therapy session, you feel like you're sitting and talking with a friend. The medical clinic is pretty much the same way, my only complaint there is some days they are extremely slowwwww! I'm not sure why that is but, it looks to me like on those days they have over booked patients. Most days I'm in my appointments on time and there are no issues but, I have had a few occasions where I've been here well over 2 hours. Which if you have a life and things to do can be very frustrating! Otherwise, this is a wonderful clinic and atmosphere. You aren't just a number here, the staff really do care about you!

While at the hospital, I had to pick an on-call pediatrician from one of two places in Georgetown to come examine the baby. After having a sour experience with the other office, I choose Bluegrass Pediatrics. I met Dr. Knight that evening at Georgetown Hospital and liked him so much that we decided to stick with him at Bluegrass Pediatrics instead of the pediatrician in Lexington that I had originally planned to see. I'm glad we did. Dr. Knight has given us the best care, always listening to us -- even if he didn't agree with us. The staff members at Bluegrass Pediatrics itself are very friendly and polite. They are also quick to get us in for an appointment within the same or next day as needed.... and have a pediatrician available for phone calls when office hours are closed. The office may not be bright and flashy, but don't let that fool you. (They are also a family practice, it's not just for kids -- so your kids can go here for their entire lives!) There is also a separate sick and well area, although you have to walk through the sick area to get to the front desk/doctor anyway. Sadly, we are not currently patients at Bluegrass Pediatrics as of this month because of a change in insurance. It is a bit frustrating (especially as we had a medical need for our child recently), but it is what it is. I'm still thankful for the care my son received here. Highly recommend.

We personally prefer the doctors Blair and Chase. They are both very good with babies and know how to put them at ease. They also take the time to patiently answer all the questions you may have. The office is neat and the wait time is under 15 minutes usually. I really appreciate the fact that wellness checks and allergy shot visits have a separate entrance from the sick visits. It really helps the littlest babes who have no immunity yet. Additionally, I hear they might start barring unvaccinated children from the wellness check area. The nurses are all very sweet. Frankfort is lucky to have such good pediatricians in town.

My 5 year old son recently had tongue, lip, and cheek ties treated with Team Tongue Tie. These…read morewere affecting his speech, and they would cause dental issues down the line as well. His dentist and speech therapist both recommended we see Team Tongue Tie, and his Dr. at Kaiser also mentioned them as an alternate to the traditional tongue tie revision, which would require general anesthesia and was not something we were comfortable with. All three professionals agreed that he needed the tie revision, and that was confirmed by Dr Sacker during consultation as well. I would be misleading you if I told you that the whole process was "easy peasy". My son did scream during the procedure, and I did want to run in and rescue him. It was hard to hear, and I was thankful when the nurse came to distract me. I was thankful that it was over quickly! I asked him afterward if it hurt at all and he said no, he was just scared of the numbing medicine. He's never had any sort of numbing medicine in his mouth before, so that feeling was scary. Despite this, Dr. Sacker and her staff was so nice and caring toward him, that he was not scared to go back for his follow up two days later. The stretches are rough at first. It hurts, it's exhausting, but it's a short term thing. Stay the course, you'll get through it! It was less than 2 weeks before there wasn't any more pain and the stretches became a breeze to do. Okay, now to sing some praises! Dr. Sacker and her staff are positively wonderful. The nurses are very warm and caring, the office was beautiful and inviting. From the get-go, Scott explained thoroughly what to expect from the entire procedure and the aftercare, and explained Dr. Sacker's qualifications as well. He was available for further questions and was prompt in responding via phone and email. Dr Sacker is very knowledgeable, responsive, and empathetic. She is there to support you every step of the way, and encouraged me to send pictures if I felt unsure of how well I was doing the stretches (which I did, and she responded reassuringly). At the two week checkup, she again assured me that at any time, I could text her with questions or send pictures. It's obvious that she cares about her patients and the success of the procedures! Dr. Sacker and Scott were both great in interacting with our family, it's a plus that they're nice people! I'm happy with our decision to see Team Tongue Tie, and would gladly refer them to others needing this procedure.

Team Tongue Tie saved my breastfeeding journey with my second. One that I thought was going…read moreamazing until about 6/7 weeks in. I started getting frequent clogs, my baby was unreasonably fussy, had silent reflux, and started struggling to breastfeed. I had no idea what was going on -- my first child had no issues breastfeeding and I had been doing the exact same thing with my second. Luckily we were referred to TTT and they were incredible from the first phone call. We called frantically on a Friday afternoon after getting tipped off that our baby might have a tie. They were so quick to respond and Scott even took our intro phone call on a Saturday afternoon. We were in first thing on Monday morning for the procedure!! When you're in this desperate position to feed your baby, you KNOW how important speed is. I was SO thankful they were able to get us in so quickly - I may have cried a few silent tears of relief when he said we could come in on Monday morning. Everyone in the office was so helpful, kind, and understanding. The procedure was super quick and easy (as they tell you!). Although it was a bit traumatizing being freshly postpartum and exhausted, the team was so comforting and reassuring. I had this strange expectation that once we had the procedure, breastfeeding would magically be fixed. This was indeed not the case -- it was a much longer haul to get back to a successful breastfeeding situation. We had the ties (4 total) released at around ~7 weeks, but it took several months afterwards to get fully back to successful breastfeeding with little to no pumping. I say this for anyone reading this to gain realistic expectations. We had to go back for lactation appointments (Heather was amazing!) and I was still having to pump around the clock for a few weeks. Our daughter is now 7 months old, exclusively breastfed, and absolutely thriving. In fact, she refuses the bottle at this point, which some people would be bummed about but is such a win for me. I am SO happy that we had this procedure done with TTT and their amazing staff! This is somewhat of a niche operation and I am so grateful that they exist. Thank you Dr. Sacker and everyone at TTT for dedicating so much time and energy to helping families like us!
