So I called for an appointment and was told she could see me on August 18 (today is July 2). I have prescriptions that have to be monitored and maintained, and I also have a very painful issues with my arm. I don't think either can wait for August 18. They are two separate appointments and they won't combine them: one is "to establish care" and the other is an illness visit. Once I see her as a "wellness visit" on August 18, I would be able to "get in quicker" to see her in the future. For now, if I'd like to be seen and monitored by "someone else" who has more availability in their schedule I could do that. Well, I've had a terrible experience with a doctor in Chicago that left me with ongoing medical issues that could have been prevented. So I did my research and selected someone I felt I could trust. I was so very lucky to have that in New Orleans (from where I just moved) and I just wanted that again. I don't really want to see "someone else" that I don't know anything about and waiting 6+ weeks to see a doctor I researched heavily. So while I can't really rate Dr. Boyd herself, this is a warning to those who are looking for a doctor: even though her site says she is accepting new patients, I don't think she really has time for them. Be sure you can wait six weeks before seeing her if you choose her. I get why she's busy -- she's good. But why advertise that you're accepting new patients when you really don't have time for someone who needs you?

When I began to explain my issue, he rudely cut me off and said "I don't want to hear any history. You have a hernia." Dr. Khorsand proceeded to check me and verified that I needed surgery. When I began to ask about the surgery, he told me to make another appointment. He spent a total of 4-1/2 minutes with me that day. I made a second appointment but then began to search out the subject. Almost every doctor now does the surgery laproscopically, a minimally invasive way without any major incisions or scarring. I call back Dr. Khorsand's office and asked if he did the surgery laproscopically. The assistant told me that she would ask the doctor and call me back. She did, but her answer was that he would talk about it at our next meeting, a very vague un-answer that should have only been a simple 'yes' or 'no'. I cancelled the next appointment. As a further note, Dr. Khorsand's bio indicates that he has been practicing for 51 years. That makes him around 80 years old. While I don't have an issue with age (I am 77), perhaps he might not be up to newer technology and procedures and is more comfortable with the old ways. Follow-up: I found another doctor at another local hospital that has great reviews for hernia surgery. I visited him and he was friendly and caring, and he spent all the time that I needed, asking me if I had questions. A wonderful change. In addition, this new doctor discovered that I also had a smaller hernia on my other side, something that Dr. Khorsand didn't even check for. I agreed to the suggestion to repair both at the same time, and his assistants sat with me to explain everything, giving me papers with the follow-up. They were also very pleasant. The surgery is scheduled and I'm ready to go with just one visit and a feeling of confidence in my new doctor.

Hoping to find another solution, I went to Dr. Fronza for a second opinion. After he reviewed my medical history and spoke with me about my concerns, he proposed a surgery that would get rid of my problems and save my spleen. He fought for me and what was best for my body, and made me feel at ease. Every time I saw him, he thoroughly answered all of my questions and was patient with me. I felt like we made decisions together, not like I was being told what would be done. I had surgery with Dr. Fronza in December 2016 (he was able to schedule surgery right away - a week out) and all went as planned. He was able to save my spleen and get me back to being 100% healthy. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes to see him, and scheduling new appointments with Cindy were very easy to do.

While their treatment alternatives were similar to Dr. Fronza they were very conservative In their approach. My daughter suffers from extreme anxiety and was freaking out at the thought of having this procedure. Dr. Ads could not have been nicer. He was patient and completely explained thw procedure. My daughter was good up until the day of the extractions. All that anxiety came flowing back. Dr. Ads' assistant was wonderful. She calmed my daughters nerves. Everything went great. Even had an issue with food getting caught and the office was closed. After a call to the out of office phone number, Dr Ads was able to make arrangements to come in and clean it out. When I was told I had to go to an oral surgeon for issues with my 19 year old implant, I figured I'd go to Oramax being that my past experience was good. My appointment was 10/2/25 with Dr. Ads. I had an xray done and the Dr said I needed to have the implant replaced but being that he could tell how shocked and stressed I was about the situation, he recommended meeting with another Dr about possible laser treatment for the issue first. As I was leaving, I asked him if I could still get a quote/estimate for replacing the implant. On Monday 10/6, I called the office to ask if I could have the panoramic x-ray sent to me. Being that this is a big procedure, I just wanted to get a second opinion. I was told that I didn't have a panoramic x-ray, that it was a CT scan. I told her whatever it was that I had last Friday, can I get a copy of that. She said it would have to be put on a disc and picked up after 24 hours. I also told her I was waiting for an estimate and she said I should have that within a few days. On Thursday 10/9 I called to see if the disc was ready for pick up. The women didn't know what I was talking about. She looked at my file and said I had a panoramic x-ray and said it could just be emailed over (OMG, that's what I said the first time and I was told I was wrong). She did email that over. I then told her I was still waiting for an estimate since last week. She connected me to someone in the billing department. The women told me I would need an implant removal, bone graphing and implant replacement. She assured me that she would get me an estimate Friday (the following day, 10/10) morning. On Wednesday 10/15, being that I still had not heard from anyone, I called to leave a message for the dr. The receptionist asked what I was leaving a message regarding and I said I had questions about the implant. She wanted to know what the exact questions were. I told her I wanted to know the urgency to do the procedure and listed off a few more questions. She said fine and that she'd have the Dr call me. It is now Monday 10/20/25 and I have no received a quote OR a call from the Dr!! Very disappointing!!!!! I have read negative comments about the office staff many times but figured since the Dr is the one that does the work and he's always highly recommended, I'd continue to struggle through the difficulty with the staff. There's always a chance they didn't relay the message to him but at this point I'm pretty much done. I'd rather not spend thousands of dollars at a place where I feel disrespected.

To make it a good start, the woman who made my appointment over the phone was very pleasant. I then went to my appointment, a wellness visit, and it went very well. I checked in and about 6 min later, I was called in the room. I spoke with the nurse then saw Dr. Osten. He was very friendly and personable and took the time to listen to me and I didn't feel rushed at all. After seeing Dr. Osten, I had to give blood for labs to make sure everything is all good. I got to the lab and again only waited a couple minutes and was seen. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and I was in and out of my appointment in less than an hour. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a general doctor.
