They took a nightmare of a situation and went above and beyond to make it a dream. From the very beginning, Megan and Rachel took on the project with confidence, humor, and professionalism. While Megan and Rachel are wizards at design and listening to client's personal styles, it is important to note that their services go beyond simple aesthetics. They were incredibly involved with the physical design of the space, which included frequent communication with our construction company and subcontractors, ensuring that everything was accomplished according to the plan. This included but was not limited to: designing lighting plans; meticulously designing and measuring cabinetry, and then working with the cabinet maker and subs to ensure a correct fit; swooping in to fix address all the issues, from fixture placements to counter heights to wall lengths. Their attention to detail along the way was truly astounding and their knowledge of home workmanship is unmatched. There was never a problem they couldn't fix or an issue that they couldn't untangle. I know without a doubt that our project would not be as amazing as it is without them. Fox and Fern is an amazing team and I cannot wait until I have another project so I can work with them again. They are the absolute best and would highly recommend their services.

Our experience was overall really disheartening. We began working with Stephanie, Kami's daughter…read moreand were really excited to work together as we were moving to a new place. However, we assumed that Stephanie would provide us with an overview of the process with timelines and what to expect in order to work with our move-in goals. She never provided any sense of targets or timelines, which left us unsure how things worked, when we were supposed to reach out to her, and when we should expect to receive mock ups of designs/options. There was overall really poor communication and we tried to address this. Eventually, at some point, she decided that we were not a good fit as client and designer and even mentioned she had a feeling this would not work the moment she stepped into our home originally. In that case, we wish she would have told us that earlier instead of bringing us on somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster. We later got some very harsh and cold emails from Kami accusing us of sending bad checks, when in reality, our materials had gotten mixed up as we were moving, and would have been able to rectify things if they had communicated properly with us when we first sent over the payments. Honestly, just looking at the way she responds to comments on Yelp (in addition to her communication over email) shows how she lacks professionalism and basic empathy. Perhaps, we just had a bad experience, but I'm honestly not sure if this is a super friendly business for people of color, particularly with a desire to integrate some of their cultural elements into the design, or for people new to the interior design process.

Can't comment on design but she definitely lacks professionalism. Had been in contact with Kami…read morevia email for over a month and never showed up two different times. When she did finally show up was told she would get back to us by email in about a week with more information about the project and never heard back from her. If you're an adult with a business you would think one would have the decency to at least get back to a potential client and let them know she wouldn't be able to work with you. I found her flaky and her actions were adolescent.

It's priceless the time and effort I have regained in having a place for everything! She listened to my ideas and gave me great feedback as well as worked within my budget. She and her team were able to coordinate with our builder and even came up with some changes to the plans that worked even better. Allsion has a great sense of style and color. She managed to turn our home into a cozy and elegant space that reflected the style I requested. She chose the furniture, accessories, appliances, lighting, rugs, knobs, bathroom accessories and other items that matched the theme and mood I wanted. She also added some personal touches, such as a framed print I loved and photos of my husband and me. I would highly recommend Allison to anyone looking for an interior designer. She is talented, reliable, and easy to work and did I mention a dynamite personality. She has a portfolio of her previous work on her website, where you can also find her contact information. Allison and her team were very communicative and easy to work with, finding times that fit with our busy schedule, and keeping us up to date on all the logistics that we needed to know about while behind the scenes doing all the tedious things we can't manage ourselves. They found us amazing furniture but also came in and used our existing extensive art collection to make our house a stunning show piece that I keep walking through, feeling like I'm on a design show. We love bold, rich colors and bohemian accents, and lots of them, so it can easily feel cluttered, but Allison and the team helped us find a way to showcase our pieces and still feel clean and homey. Bonus points: they came in and installed the furniture while we were away on a vacation, so we came home to a magazine-perfect home, and it was so exciting! I couldn't be happier!

We are so happy we were referred to Vanessa and ColorMoxie as part of an exterior repair project to…read moreour old 1895 Portland home. When we met, Vanessa listened carefully, asked questions, and identified a gorgeous blue-green for the body of the house, and a rich creamy white for our trim. We retrieved samples of the paint from the store, put it up on a few different places on the house and garage, and SURPRISE... the blue-green color came out a lot brighter than it appeared on the flat paper sample. We sent Vanessa an email and asked for her recommendation. Vanessa wrote right back and provided three new options, one of which was the absolutely PERFECT shade of the seemingly ever-elusive teal we had been dreaming about. We are thrilled with the outcome -- our house is stunning from every angle and a true jewel of the neighborhood! Without Vanessa's expert assistance, we could have purchased 100 paint samples and still not have found the right shade.

She took our original scheme (which I put together using the Farrow & Ball website's 'these go together' suggestions) as inspiration, keeping our selected main color (F&B Brinjal), and replacing the ho-hum F&B trim colors with amazing, earthy, sophisticated ones. Then! She shocked and delighted us by proposing GOLD for our rafter tails and bits of trim. She spent a ton of time with us during the consultation, figuring out which color should go where on all the complicated joins at the back of the house. We splashed out for renderings, which was absolutely worth the extra cost--they built our confidence about making such a huge change. (Our fabulous painters -- Jeff and Alex of G&F Painting-- also appreciated the renderings and how prepared we were, btw.) The weekend before painting began, with all the final samples on the side of the house, I noticed that in the morning sun, something was off with our choices. Vanessa kindly made time for a weekend emergency visit and helped us figure out that the main sample was mixed (very) wrong, but the color selections were right. Whew! The end result is beautiful. We get tons of compliments from neighbors and passing dog walkers, and best of all... where before the white box loomed like a lonely cloud, now our home feels so much more cozy and "settled" into the landscape and neighborhood. Don't hesitate to call Vanessa - she made this daunting project fun! Worth every penny.
