Courteous, professional, and just a lovely person, Dr. Buchanan has been wonderful! Her staff is sweet, friendly, and if needed, they are not afraid to remind you to wear your rubber bands. This is my second round of braces, the first time was 7 years when I was in elementary school to high school. You would think that would have done the trick for a lifetime but that was not the case. My son has been with Dr. Buchanan for his braces and I planned to have my 2nd phase of braces with her after seeing the AMAZING results for my son. Let me start off with saying this is one of the nicest orthodontist offices I have ever been to. I checked in for my appointment and in less than 5 minutes was called back for a consultation. I was so very impressed with the innovative technology being used at this office,the thorough explanation of my treatment plan, and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. Dr. Buchanan was so friendly and personable. She left me feeling so excited to start my treatment. She answered all of my questions and showed me the advanced technology she will be using to make sure I get the best treatment that is personally customized just for me. I was also very impressed with how much Dr. Buchanan is involved with giving back to the community. She even has her own charity (Smiles Charity) where she holds an annual concert to raise money to build homes for wounded veterans. If you are looking for an orthodontist that will be quick to fix repairs, schedule missed appointments due to illness in a timely matter, and help with retainer needs after you're treatment is done, DO NOT choose Dr. Buchanan. I really like this office and Dr. Buchannon. She has been up front about the full cost of both my kids braces and mine. She's friendly and thoughtful and has wonderful staff. Just stating the facts, if your told your child needs two phases of braces, do not go that route. At the tune of $4500 for the first round, which we did, I was not expecting the second round to be $5220. Was not impressed with where we are at with the first round, and not ok with being told fork over another $5k plus to keep going... Lets add the fact was told the Damon method was a necessity so ALL his teeth would be accommodated in his mouth. Well, on top of the second phase at the $5220, we now would have to have his molars all pulled at the cost of $2000. Went to three other reputable child Orthodontics and have three quotes ranging from $3000-$4200 to straighten my child's teeth. If you put all that into perspective, dropping $12k is a bit excessive and I feel deceived to say the least. Feel a refund would be appropriate here. read more

I have to be honest; I think that this office is an excellent place to take your child for orthodontic treatment. I have never reviewed any business before on YELP, but this is the one to do. Our eight-year-old daughter is a current patient at Dr. Jennifer Buchanan's office in McKinney. I am writing this review to save other parents the time it took for us to research and find Dr. Buchanan. Our daughter had free consultations with three orthodontists in Allen and Frisco before we found Dr. Buchanan's practice. I listened to each doctor's prescribed plan to fix my child's teeth. Of the four, Dr. Buchanan's plan was straight-forward, and definitely the least invasive or intensive of the choices for our daughter. She had a clear plan, and was the only orthodontist that did not reprimand us for the way our daughter's teeth had developed due to childhood habits. We received, for free, the x-rays on CD, photographs, and a procedure plan at our first consultation. We enjoy the experience of going to Dr. Buchanan's. Our doctor and her staff are very considerate and kind. They greet my daughter every single time we walk in as if she is their only patient. They ask us questions about her home care, and inquire about how she has adjusted to her life in braces. From the ladies at the desk, to the technicians, to our billing specialist - everyone treats us as if they are very happy to see us. Our doctor applied the braces herself. That is not something that the other orthodontists would commit to doing at the other practices we visited. Dr. Buchanan takes the time every visit to examine my daughter and ask if there are any things that we need to address with her teeth. Best of all, she makes my shy daughter comfortable with a calm and gentle bedside manner. My daughter actually enjoys going to the orthodontist. Dr. Buchanan is also the same doctor that created the Smiles Charity to build homes for wounded American veterans. She encourages the patients to participate in games and opportunities for giving back to the community throughout the year. The office is bright and cheerful, and the waiting room is very pleasant and open. I am welcome to sit next to my daughter during her examination - not an option in the other practices I visited - or I can sit in the waiting room and drink a coffee. How nice is that? The quality of care and attention they give to my daughter makes me so very happy that I chose this practice for my child's orthodontic work. Think again I have been out of braces for nearly 6 years and have finally had it with my uneven teeth and over bite(which they never corrected). After moving here from California, I needed to find a new orthodontist for my third son. Unfortunately, we chose Dr. Buchanan. I was disappointed in the amount of time it would take to be seen for a repair or to reschedule appointment ( not unusual to wait 4 weeks) . I was used to being worked in quickly if a problem arose with one of my children. We chose to use a different orthodontist on McKinney after my son was done with his braces because of my dissatisfaction with this. Yesterday, my son's permanent retainer broke and he called her to fix it because she had been his orthodontist. They informed him he was no longer considered her patient and it would cost $80.00 just to be seen and they couldn't even do that until mid July. So he went to our current orthodontist at no extra fee to bee seen. They saw him the same day and he already had the new retainer. It was a huge reminder of why we left in the first place! read more
