She has a great eye for detail and design, and an all around calm demeanor. She started the project on time and even finished a bit early! Her team of workers were professional and friendly and true masters of their craft. She was always available for questions and attentive to any needs we had. I am a huge and enthusiastic fan of Judy's Gardens & Design…read more Landscape designer Judy Maier generated and executed for me an aesthetically pleasing, thoughtfully imaginative, and economically practical re-design plan for front, side and rear yard spaces of my Old Palo Alto home. Judy's landscape design--faithful to but not confined by my 80-year-old home's Cape Cod architectural style--delivered an enormous breath of fresh air to the property as well as reducing water consumption needs. Two impressive examples of Judy's magic were her (1) locating and reserving for me a raft of huge hard-to-find camellias and (2) artfully pruning and trimming two sizable flowering trees, contributing to the transformation of the front yard. Her capable crew expertly and expeditiously implemented Judy's designs. I'm using Judy for landscape projects on rental units I own.

Rebecca and her team are very competent and talented at what they do. They are flexible also. I really enjoyed working with Rebecca and would whole-heartedly recommend this company to people who appreciate excellent work. Regarding the recent negative post regarding the delay in getting a quote, I was actually the person that recommended California Nativescapes and I'm disappointed that reviewer did not give the company a chance yet proceeded to post something so negative when there were extenuating circumstances causing the delay (vacation and holidays). Also I think a part of what she stated in her review may have been incorrect. From what I recall, she told me that Marie, when she asked, stated it would probably be next week for the quote, but not promising next week for sure. Anyway it seems like it was a misunderstanding and I'm sorry I had a part in this negative exchange.

This situation actually was an emergency since this would've been detrimental to our proceeds from the sale. Apparently, state of California has rushed through ADU approvals because of the homeless problem. The guard rails are off for building ADU's and inconveniencing your neighbors. Our neighbor decided to build a two-story ADU in an area that has single-story homes. His windows were overlooking clearly into our backyard and swimming pool. To say the least it was horrifying. We were lucky to find Cyrus among two other bids for landscapers. Cyrus was the only one who had an plan about the trees to use, who gave us a price and schedule. This man is so smart and talented as a Landscaper. He was an absolute pleasure to work with from beginning to end. He was always on schedule and I was surprised how smoothly the planting of the trees went considering we were in a state of panic. It really was a pleasure meeting Cyrus and working with him. Luckily we were able to afford almost $30,000 of large trees to hide most of the ADU and give future buyers some privacy. Beware of ADU builders right to their fence line.

Our goal was to replace our side yard and fill in our backyard (a casualty of the drought some years ago). We are thrilled with both the beautiful design and the quality of the installation! Oleysa worked with us to understand what we wanted, created an initial plan, and modified it to suit our preferences. Her design sense is very high - how she arranges plants including their colors, sizes, and layering, their water needs, etc. Oleysa is extremely detailed and just knows so much about landscaping, plants, and practical plant care. She suggested plants that thrive in our local area, are visually interesting, and met our other criteria (low water, low maintenance). Many people may not think about the installation quality, but even a great design needs to be implemented - that's where Omar and his team come in. Omar is the best installer that we've worked with over the years. The design was perfectly executed. In fact, Omar actually left my existing landscape even better then it was before by extending irrigation to some existing plants. Also, there was some leftover compost and he took the initiative to spread it over some existing plants. Omar is also current with the latest irrigation tech such as flow indicators. Besides creating great results, they are easy to work with (good communication, on-time, hardworking, and reasonably priced). We strongly recommend Zin+Ola.

I hired Oscar (and Veronica) to install a drain system (two downspouts, a sump pump, and drain…read moretoward the street). The positive is that Oscar is very friendly in person. This is the only positive piece I can comment on. He did quick work; but not to the specifications we discussed. My impression is that he tries to squeeze in as many projects as he can into a week and cuts corners to complete work within his condensed timeframe. For example, the drain system was supposed to include a water backflow stop. I learned today after heavy rain that this was not installed. This is a big deal! The backflow caused my sump pump to cycle constantly. Which isn't great for the longevity of the system. I have experienced the same issue as other reviewers - Oscar ignores every call or text I send him. Towards the end of the project, he promised to return with my sump pump lid. He scheduled dates, then rescheduled, and eventually ignored me completely. Although I'm disappointed by the results of his work. I am most disappointed by the lack of integrity in his business practices. He wrote me off as a good paying customer, leaving me to feel like a fool for choosing him. I'm not surprised others have had a positive experience with him. As long as the project and timing are convenient, he will get it done. But the moral compass Oscar and Veronica operate under is questionable. This is the biggest mistake I've ever made with a contractor. I do not recommend Oscar or Veronica.
