We spent a great deal of time on the phone and email and when the dust settled, we rented one of their cabins and, through their own recommendation, one of their competitors' nearby cabins to fit our large group. On top of this, they recommended us two restaurants (Yelp! review coming soon...) and our loding accomodations were both perfect. Blue Ridge For Rent has a "go straight to the house" to get the keys policy, which saved us time, unlike the last trip we took, and their booking system and check-out instructions were simple. I immediately packed up the kids and headed over to the Blowing Rock Property office and spoke with Christine. I told her what we needed to have and that we needed an immediate check in. She went to work right away and in 10 mins she found us a new place to stay and told us we could head over right now to get settled. So we get to the rental and there is a leveled open lot across the street with several pickups and pieces of equipment. It was the weekend, so there was no activity. Monday came and the heavy LOUD equipment started coming in. I complained to BRP and their defensive posture was: 1) how would we know it would be loud (DUH - heavy construction equipment) and 2) we only learned about it this morning (sorry that lot they are working on did not just get cleared). So, no apology, no expression of concern, no attempted compensation, nothing. When I have stayed in a rental in the past, if something like that happened, the owner/manager would have compensated us in some way for putting up with this nonsense all week or moved us to another rental. Not these people. I'm not asking for a free stay, just some measure of good customer service. So it turns out that the city was laying a new sewer line on the road, which not only was messy, loud and inconvenient as they had to keep closing the street off to do the work. Not to mention the dust which was everywhere. The car was a hot mess. I asked the workers how long this had been planned and they told me that the area businesses HAD been informed of the road closure and construction for a while which brought up lots of questions - like why the two houses on either side of our rental and the condos adjacent to the leveled lot had no one in them all week during the start of leaf season. The people working on the lot where they were working also said that neighbors and residents got plenty of notice as the construction was taking place right next door to several restaurants with outdoor seating. The workers were lovely people and helped us with exiting and entering the street and property all week. Although they were as appalled as we that this rental company did not inform us of the construction ahead of time. Now the icing on the cake -- heavy construction going on behind the cottage starting on Thursday. So we had noise in front AND in back. There was NO escape. No drinks on the porch, no board games on the patio and the noise could be heard inside the house, so there was no respite there either. This rental cost us several thousand dollars for the week that I anticipated to be a quiet trip to the mountains.

We called the contractor who executed the renovation, and they called on Ember Keepers to diagnose and fix the problem the contractor had created. Technicians Chance and Julian were on the spot 4 hours later. Polite, knowledgeable and responsive--we couldn't have asked for better. Within less than an hour they had us back "in the fire!" Explained everything as they went. While I know very little about chimneys or knowing what to look for, Graham went step by step with the process. Michael did a really good job of cleaning and then making sure everything was as it was when they arrived. They gave me an estimate for possible recommendations but were not at all pushy or "trying to sell" me on repairs. He explained what technically was needed and shared several options. Bottom line, I'd definitely recommend them. I have nothing to compare their work to, but based on my experience, I'd use them again for certain!

He showed us one property, and we gave him our contact information and told him we'd get in touch if we needed any further information. This was in July 2019. Reese has called us EVERY SINGLE SAY, SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES since, and it is now September 21, 2019. His message are always the same; "Call me, I wanted to see if you got the message I left for you." It's like a sick joke, but it isn't funny or amusing. I have ignored his calls thinking he would get the message, but he obviously does not. I've sent him emails telling him we are not interested. He still calls. Every day. I've blocked his number. He still calls. Every day. I've sent him text messages telling him to leave us alone. He still calls. Every day. At this point, I am going to contact the NC Board of Realtors and file a complaint, because this is harassment on a level I've never seen before. Ever.
