He had referred me to a Piedmont Head and Neck surgeon. When my wife and I got there the Surgeon's staff had n referral on file nor any of my information. Given that my Primary Care Doctor, Cardiologist as well as my Urologist are all Piedmont doctors, I found it very curious that they had no information about why I was there, Needless to say, we left. I let Piedmont Cancer know about the snafu and they referred me to Piedmont ENT on Peachtree. Again, we got there and meet with a doctor who , again, had no idea why I was there. It was to have a surgical biopsy on my right lymphnoid. After the exam, he had referred my to Emory Winship Cancer Institute. Given all my doctors were Piedmont doctors, my experience with Piedmont Cancer Institute was extremely disappointing. To top it off, where they charge me $50.00 for a smoking eval, where they had asked the following questions: how long have I smoke and how may packs a day. Some eval!!! It may be convenient location but not worth the aggravation and time lost.

In my initial appt with him he spent so much time with me going over everything I have been dealing with and essentially told me that until he looked inside my bladder himself he couldn't give me a definitive answer. That alone made me trust him and I scheduled my cystoscopy. The day of my procedure, the doctor was running behind however I could only see that as a silver lining that tells me that when it's my turn for the procedure, Greenstein is going to take as much time as he needs to get the answers he's looking for. My operation went smooth with ZERO issues and I finally received a diagnosis after years. Greenstein went over the treatment and medication options and scheduled a post op routine appt to be done prior to Halloween. Well, I ended up breaking my knee cap and not being able to do the follow up. I had knee surgery in November. Just before Christmas, I was have an IC flare up with my bladder and contacted Advanced Urology. I was connected with Samantha who worked with so much compassion and speed to relay my concerns to Greenstein and follow up with me timely. With their help they prescribed me the two medications that greatly helped with my IC flare up symptoms and because of Dr. Greenstein and Samantha I was able to get through Christmas and New Years without any IC bladder flare ups/pain. I am beyond thankful for everyone at Advanced Urology specifically Doctor Greenstein as one of his PA's Samantha. Thank you everyone for working with compassion, respect, kindness, empathy, and knowledge!

We can't say enough about this practice w/ their immediate, proactive, and aggressive approach to cancer treatment cannot be overstated. We love them forever and if God Forbid, cancer should return to our family, though we have relocated to Savannah; there is only one place we will go to eradicate it. Northwest Georgia Oncology and only, Dr Nandy! Side note: there is another doctor in the practice named Doctor forehand who was absolutely awful and I would go so far as to say incompetent. So if you go to the practice, make sure that you insist on Dr. Nandy folks. PLEASE do not let your loved ones be touched by Doctor forehand. My husband would not be alive, were it not for us ignoring Doctor forehand and his malpractice worthy advice for us to do nothing... and come back in five years! We instead, followed our guts remained steadfast in our proactive approach to his medical care. Days later we found Dr. Nandy and my husband had stage 3 Adenocarcinoma esophageal cancer with lymph node involvement. No joke. Forehand should lose his license and Dr Nandy should take over the whole practice. IMHO. Dr Nandy and his entire staff literally saved his life.

One of my procedures made me very uncomfortable and nervous. He had no patience for me and my concerns or the fact that the process was very uncomfortable for me I only saw him for that one procedure, the consultant before my surgery for 10 minutes and the day of my surgery Overall everything went well but I would have liked things a lot better had we had conversations about what was happening. I got most of my important information from a coworker who had been thru a similar procedure Also feel like we could have moved this a bit more quickly. Dr. Rauch and West Ga. Urology will be my first call for help in this area of medicine. The procedure was performed in such a way that it was as comfortable as it could possibly be. It did hurt a bit, but, needles and scalpels used within the scope of a Urologist probably isn't EVER going to be all sunshine and rainbows. Some of the reviews posted give low ratings due to things that are outside of the reasonable control of the staff i.e. "it was painful so I gave them 1 star"........pretty stupid and useless review. Also, if you don't know if you need a Proctologist, Urologist, or a Gynecologist to address your personal needs........we have "Google" to tell us what each of those professions handle. Google is free and readily available pretty much everywhere. If you don't have your own way to Google something, pretty much anyone will do it for you. If technology isn't quite your thing, which if you are reading this then you'll manage, regular ol' dictionaries or World Book encyclopedias are also your friend. Urological visits are logically less fun than a day at the beach, fishing, playing with your dog, having drinks with friends, skydiving, swimming with dolphins, watching the miracle of the Galapogos Green Sea Turtles hatching and finding their way to the cool ocean waters, hiking the trails of the Easter Islands and meandering amongst the monolithic Moai while you reflect on all of the possibilities of their creation, and bacon. Would you give the oceans a 1 star review because salt water burns in your eyes? NO, even the dumbest among us would not. So people, please read through the idiocy in most of the low ratings and when you DO decide to leave a review, make it a useful and pertinent review that exhibits at least a minimal amount of thought and intelligence when read by the general public.

Dr. Smith was kind, thoughtful, and listened well. The support staff was efficient, friendly, and communicative. Everyone I met there asked me about myself and made me feel comfortable. Wait times were not out of the ordinary, and my visit was completed in a timely manner. I appreciate how Dr. Smith shared with me that she prefers her patients to only take medications when needed. Iam so blessed to have had Dr. Hawkins as my surgeon for many reasons! Not only was she an…read moreefficient & competent surgeon, but her bedside manner is impeccable! I couldn't have possibly had a more proficient surgeon had I dreamed one up! Lol. I'm one of those people who really research anyone who is going to be my medical professional. Simply because you only have one life, & you want the best to work with & on you. Plus, i have to be extra thorough in screening doctors because I am a transgender male. It can be very difficult to find good medical care. Someone who isn't going to treat you like an experiment or a mental case. So, you can imagine my excitement when i discovered Dr. Hawkins! My first initial visit with Dr. Hawkins was great. She took me to her office, got to know me, & asked me many questions about what i had been going through. She presented me with options I had not thought of, & gave me some new information that I had not considered. She checked me out, & I was on my way. Days later my body went haywire!!!! It was a nightmare! I was pouring blood, & having huge blood clots. Which had happened once before. I had to change pads & tampons every 30 mins to an hour. I was experiencing difficulty even getting through the day. So, i kept in contact with her medical assistant Jessica. Jessica & Dr. Hawkins make a superb team! Jessica went above & beyond her call of duty. Any time I called her, she was so calm & reassuring! She helped me any way she could! One of the difficult parts about this whole process was that my uterus had literally grown as if i was carrying a baby. It was about 9 inches long. It was up in my abdomen. I had to go to the hospital at least 3 times, & one of those times was an overnight stay that I had to receive a blood transfusion. My leg & foot had almost doubled in size. I went to my podiatrist, & she referred me to a vascular doctor. He discovered I had multiple blood clots in both legs. My uterus was literally tearing my body apart. A year earlier I had been seeing a urologist. My uterus was causing the problem with my bladder. Dr. Hawkins had discovered that my uterus was so large that it was not only crushing my bladder, but sitting on a large vein or vessel (can't remember which) in which was causing the blood clots because the blood couldn't flow properly to my legs. Consequently, I had to have an IVC filter put in to even have the surgery. I had already had one pulmonary embolism due to the blood clots. Dr. Hawkins even admitted to me that this may be a little bit more difficult then she expected. She never gave up though. She consulted with an oncologist that specialized in difficult situations like this. She did her homework. Once I was able to finally have my surgery I was overjoyed!!!! Finally all my agony was about to be over! The day of the surgery Dr. Hawkins reassured me that everything would be fine. My surgery went spectacular. No problems during or after. Once I was okay, she even came to see me on her own personal time. I felt very taken care of by her & her team. Healing went extremely well. My incision is barely visible. My girlfriend, a nurse, even said it looked like artwork. Clean, thin, & beautiful. If you're looking for a surgeon that is intelligent, knowledgeable, & personable do yourself a favor & go to Dr. Hawkins! Best decision of my life!

Dr. Hawkins is wonderful. About a year and a half ago, I was diagnosed with a large fibroid…read more(squishing my bladder and causing other issues) and the recommendation was to get a hysterectomy. I talked to four different surgeons and, as expected, had a range of responses (everything from minimally invasive robotic surgery that Dr. Hawkins was able to perform, to a full vertical cut that would likely take 8+ weeks to recover from.) Dr. Hawkins was able to do the minimally invasive surgery (and I'm recovering really well!) Beyond that, she was so incredibly kind, reassuring, and helpful. I had some specific fears around a procedure that was required for insurance that she helped me through. She also gave really good, solid information and was quick to reply to questions on the portal. Surgery was better than I expected, despite the fact that she found a few extra issues (and took the time to deal with them for me during surgery - e.g., endometriosis). My primary doctor went through the surgery report with me and pointed out the things she did that, to him, indicated the quality of the surgery/surgeon. I also found her staff to be really helpful in getting through all of the steps that led up to the surgery. They've documented everything and send you the PDF beforehand. It's a little overwhelming/confusing, but they also send a few reminders leading up to the surgery to make sure you're on track. I was a little overwhelmed leading up to the surgery, but glad for the extensive written directions about what to expect and referred back to the document a LOT (I still have it open on my computer, to check out the post-op directions from time to time). In the end, I'm really glad that I took the time to talk with several doctors and glad that I found Dr. Hawkins. I very much appreciated her kindness, ability to help me through a difficult/stressful procedure, quick responses, and her surgical skill. Highly recommend talking to her if you're in a similar position!

I also like how I did not have to fill out a million forms or tell them where my pharmacy was because I had been to another doctor in the Piedmont network. On a Wednesday afternoon there was only a 15 minute wait as a first time patient, but go a little early because parking is a nightmare.
