Came to celebrate the last day of school and wish we would have left. Same experience as a year or so ago so this review could be used for both visits. All patrons look miserable upon entry as they had the doors open and no AC on during this humid, muggy day. We decided to stay despite the lack of engagement by the employees since our son was looking forward to a $17 milkshake. To make a long story short the service sucks, food severely over priced with small portions and the place was filthy. Came to this location since i was given a milkshake from here about a year ago. I was surprised when i realized it wasn't a milkshake only spot. Instead, it was on the side of the highway and was a hidden cafe. It was small but they had the QR code is outside so that you can look at the menu. They have things like chicken wings, burgers, tenders, milkshakes. It almost reminded me of a Bronx version of Mom's Diner (if you have ever gone). It was indeed a bit pricey, for i spent $17 on a milkshake. I haven't tried the food but i can say that the milkshake (roughly 16oz) was delicious. I got myself the Crazy Fruity milkshake which tasted like fruity pebbles. They don't get a 4 stars because the milkshake pebbles were stale on the outside. I did like however the frosting layers inside the cup which made a nice taste and look to it. Will come here again to try the food. Reservations are recommended. They didn't tell us that when we called but the first thing they asked when we walked through the door was if we had reservations. Food was decent, better then I thought it would be given I thought it was a dessert place but food is overpriced in my opinion. The bacon Mac was decent. This is a cute mom and pop establishment......it is VERY small inside ......and not like it appears on social media......it is on a corner of a side street and is a store front with an apartment building on top.... it is SMALL. The plan was to drop my daughter off to meet her friends. The three out of four of us ordered. She was awaiting their arrival for a new table (we sat at a four-top). A booth opened and I requested it for my daughter and her friends. The couple at the table behind us were moved to the booth as the girls stood by our four-top. After an extended conversation with the.Manager , the girls were moved to the booth. My spouse felt the Cuban could have been more flavorful. It was my first time going to Jenavies Cafe and I must say that I left very satisfied. The food was amazing, but their milkshake was even better ! Their menu offers different Hispanic food like Patacón, Cuban sandwich, fritura, yaroa, bistec, empanadas, tacos and so much more. I don't remember but they have about 5 or 6 different milkshakes which all look yummy ! The place isn't huge, but I highly recommend people to make their way if you find yourself by Throgneck. I love this place! This is your typical small cafe where you can get solid food for lunch or dinner. It definitely can get busy here. There are about a handful of tables here. You can order at the counter and sit down too. At least I could the last time I was there. They have all sorts of food here. Everything I had was so good. I enjoyed it a lot. I had the mac and cheese, dominican sliders and buffalo wings. Every city needs a place like Jenavies cafe where you can get really good food and feel at home. I would definitely come back. Had this place bookmarked for months and decided to visit when PB said he wanted a fancy milkshake. I ordered the steak and onions and he had the fries chicken chunks. Everything was delicious. I dis ask for steak sauce b4 I tasted my food but immediately understood why they didn't have any... it's not needed at all. I only ate half my plate because I had to save room for my Reese's lover milkshake. I'm super glad I did. Not worth it at all. We drove up to NY just to eat dinner. I can say they accommodated us even though we walked in right at closing which is why they get two stars other than that NO. The service horrible. They took over 15 minutes to even say hi or acknowledge us once we sat. Then we get our order taken and it took awhile to come out. When we got our food it was typical and nothing special. They forgot the cheese for the cheese fries and we asked them for some and they said we don't have anymore. Even though this was part of our order. We asked for other items which they forgot to give us and the young boy looked at us crazy and just kept walking. No apology no nothing for the bad service, messing up our order, and quality. Okay so I never give restaurants a two stars but in this situation it is a must. On 08/13/21 we celebrated my nephew birthday party here. We were a party of 13 people. We order multiple items on the menu. 5 of us order the scheese burger sliders and the remainder of us order other items. When the burgers came out we began to it and all noticed a bad taste from the burgers like a chemical taste. The kids immediately spit the burger out. I decided to check as you know kids can be picky but they were right. The burgers tasted as if chemicals have been on them. I called for one of the waiters and notified her. I explain to her what the burgers tasted like and he response was there is nothing I can do once the food is on the bill it stays on the bill. I was furious and ask for a manager because no way we will be billed for 5 orders of burgers that were inedible. The waiter theb goes she is the manager so I said okay so we are not going to eat these burgers and risk getting sick over it. We don't mind picking something else on the menu as the other items that we ordered tasted fine. The manager stated she had to go back to the chef and ask. She comes back and says the chef wants ti know what wrong with the burgers after we specifically told her what was wrong. Again we ask for them to be taken off the table and off the bill. She goes on to say once they are on the table she can not and we would have to pay for them. That she can only take one order off the bill the rest have to stay on. Meanwhile people these burgers were on the table for less then 1 mimute before we reported the taste. The manager then went on to say other people have ordered and never complained. Great customer service right!!! I went on to tell her maybe something spilled on this batch or the meat is old and she stated well everyone else who order never had a problem. I was extremely upset at this point . Like as a manager the customer always right abd in this case there was five customers saying the same thing!!!! I went one and told her wht dont you taste one of the burgers since it seems lime you don't believe us. Why would we lie we are hosting an entire party here about to spend over 500 dollars here. If we are spending money it will be on stuff that is edible. She goes on to say she will not taste it so I told her well ask the chef to make you a burger and you tell me if it taste good. She declined and went on to say im sorry but you will have to pay for these 5 orders despite what you are saying about them!!!! I ask her to call the owner and she declined saying she 100% sure the owner will make us pay too because no way nothing can be wrong with the sliders. Meanwhile everything else we order everyone was eating she still didn't believe the burgers were bad. I told her well unfortunately we will not being paying for them and if put on the bill we will deduct the burgers and pay for everything else. And this is where things got interesting!!!! I am still in shock. The manager and I repeat manager of Jenavies cafe!! Shrug her shoulders looked at all of us and said well unfortunately I will have to CALL THE POLICE on you then!!!! She threatened to call the police because we refused to oay for burgers that were barley touched that tasted like chemicals because she didnt BELIEVE us. ON TOP OF THIS SHE SAID SHE WILL CALL THE POLICE ON US IN FRONT OF THE KIDS AT THE PARTY. I looked at her and said call because the only one getting arrested is you and this burgers!!!! The way this suppose to be fine establishment decieded to handle this situation was distasteful and unprofessional!! The manager definitely needs to be trained on how to handle these thpes of situations. The kids were all worried they were going to be arrested because of her. The birthday boy was so scared how sad is this!!! He only 10 years old and worried tbe cops will be called on his family because of burgers that in all right the manager should of just took back and apologized for this happening but instead she handled this completely inappropriately. After I told her call the police then she left and came back telling us we will take the burgers back and off the bill but for next time this will not be the case. What ever on the bill stays and thats that. I politely told her well there will definitely never be a next time!!! Tremont Ave. Small place, very busy and slow service, young servers but not very friendly (little smiling would go a long way). After people left, floor under table was not cleaned. Super sad about this but I was super disappointed with my order of wings yesterday! We ordered through uber eats and it took forever for the order to even be prepared and then when I finally got my order which I was really excited for because not a lot of locations have lemon pepper wings I was immediately disappointed just looking at my wings I knew there was no flavor, they tasted like regular wings and kinda dry and for $10 just for 6 pieces smh! Came here on Sunday with my boyfriend for brunch. First off, this is a more family-friendly atmosphere so expect children yelling. Second, their music is just a little too loud for noon. Where shall I start? Firstly, the servers wear mesh mask! We had a reservation for a specific time. Arrived 15 minutes earlier to have to wait outside for 30 minutes. As for the food, you're better off eating at Boston Market two blocks away on E. Tremont Ave and coming here to order to go shakes. The food lacked basic salt and pepper seasoning. Very bland, the only thing the kids ate from the platter was the chicken. The Moquitos lacked flavor. The chicken that is used in their nachos, tacos and pretty much anything that has shredded chicken is basic canned chicken. The only thing that was heavily seasoned (to the point where it was inedible) were the wings. The restaurant is small, the tables are not 6ft apart, they do not serve water unless you buy a bottle of water. They also claim that it would be a health violation to serve water in a cup.... yet they can serve milkshakes in a cup. We will never come back. If we want specialty milkshakes, we'll travel to queens for some Burgerology, at least this way the adults can enjoy a drink as well. read more

Friday's in the summer consists of me forcing my teenage son to spend time with me instead of his friends! LOL... so on a rainy Friday we popped in here. After the food was brought out 30mins went past before a waitress checked on us. Additional napkins aren't given unless asked for *we're eating chicken wings, clearly we'll need extra* Gratuity is automatically added for bills over $50. I truly dislike when that policy isn't posted somewhere, the bill is given to you then you're forced to ask... It wasn't a horrible experience but I've had better service. My girlfriend found this place on Instagram and after salivating over their pictures for weeks we finally made up our minds and decided to visit. I'm not going to lie we did arrive pretty close to closing time so I wasn't expecting perfect service or anything like that but I'm glad to say that the service we did get was really good. Every worker in this place is really young but nice and attentive. We had a big party with us and although we were late we did not feel rushed. After we finally made up our minds and placed the orders the food was promptly brought out. I was definitely not let down. The portions were huge, the food was fresh and the milkshake was amazing! The parking is a bit rough around the area depending on the time you arrive but the actual restaurant is really comfortable. I like supporting local businesses and wish I could give this business 5 stars, but, I can't. The place has about 10 tables and already the benches are taped up. The staff is sweet and the food tastes great. Although I believe the shakes are over-priced and overly decorated, they do taste great. But, you can get a better shake in classier places for much less. The table service is absolutely terrible. You have to ask for plates and it doesn't occur to them to provide anything else unless you ask. The wait staff seems to be in their own little world. Since the tip is included in the price they probably think they don't have to work for it. Good place for a teen date. Definitely won't go there just my wife and I. We go for our kids. We ordered a $55 platter that had chicken wings, chicken fingers, fries and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were very good, but for the price, I could just go to the store and buy the frozen goods myself. Now to the real reason we went. They advertise those large busy icecream shakes that are very popular in places through out Manhattan, so it was nice not to have to travel down there. But for $20 ($18 plus $2 for a cookie sandwich), they need work. It is a nice experience, especially if you are with a kid like we were. But they weren't tasty.
