On a recent Alaskan cruise, I tried the famous Salmon donut on the Ketchikan port day. My wife & I enjoyed the town and made this our last stop before getting back on the ship. As this spot is very near the dock, it was quite busy with tourists. I waited in line for about 45 minutes (which was the longest line I had all day). The shop itself is small, so the line started out on the sidewalk. After ordering, my donut came out pretty fast. I could see that it was "decorated" fresh to order (the donut was already baked, but the kitchen staff spread the spread and handed it to me). It was quite big, so I'm glad I only ordered one and shared it with my wife. The donut was very fluffy and soft, so it was a strange sensation to bite into it. I love salmon schmear on bagels, which are dense and chewy, so the softness was new. The donut also wasn't sweet (thank goodness!), so it paired nicely with the salmon. Overall, we enjoyed the donut. But in hindsight, I wish we waited until our Juneau port day to try this, as there is a larger location in that city with seating inside. The Ketchikan location doesn't have room inside, so we eat the donut right before boarding our cruise ship. It's also a one-time purchase, though I would try their sweet donuts on a future trip.
Stopped by Jellyfish Donuts after arriving a cruise ship. When we arrived - there was a very short line. By the time we left, the line stretched down the street a bit. I ordered the salmon donut as well as the coco-dream. The coco-dream had cream cheese and coconut and tasted similar a sno-ball. I loved this - I haven't had a sno-ball in years!! The salmon donut pleasantly surprised me. It came out hot -- almost as if it were on a hot roll. The salmon spread was also very flavorful. Unless you get multiple donuts in a box (I didn't ) they give them to you in paper. This meant my hands were too full to take a picture. The place itself is really small and can get crowded quickly. They try to keep the line moving by having customers document their orders on dry erase menus that are positioned at the front door. Basically, you fill out your sheet, pay at the register -- and your order comes out a few minutes later. Pretty good donuts overall.

The menu is packed with creative flavors, from familiar favorites to combinations that make you do a double take. One thing I learned during our visit: timing matters. Some of the donuts we got were still warm, and the difference was remarkable. A fresh, warm donut went from "that's pretty good" to "okay... now I get it." The texture was softer, the glaze melted just enough, and the whole thing came together in a completely different way. So if you have the choice, ask what's fresh out of the oven. The shop itself is small, casual, and exactly what you'd hope to stumble across while wandering Ketchikan.
We had to give it a try. Waited maybe 30 minutes in line. The cashier was super friendly once we got to him. I order a lavender and a chocolate sea salt donut. I did enjoy the flavor but the donuts we very dense. Not my preference when it comes to donuts. No hate, just not what I like. Fyi... Celebrity doesnt let you take them back on the ship
I'm convinced this may be the most expensive donut shop in the country, maybe even in the world. Their specialty is the salmon donut which is just a regular donut with salmon cream cheese spread on top. Somehow, that costs more than $13. The donut itself is fresh with a nice texture but I don't think the spread goes well with it. The maple bacon glaze tastes good and goes well with the donut. Overall, the donut itself tastes fine, it did not wow me and I cannot justify the price. Even the paper box is an extra $1.

This location is a bit cramped and the line can go out the door, but the staff works hard and quickly to get people through. I recommend grabbing a few diverse options, extra napkins and forks, and enjoying as a group down by the ships!
I came for the salmon donut and it was delicious! It was $13 + $1 for the box and tax. My total for one salmon donut was ~$15 but it was worth it! The shop is very small and the line is long but it moved quickly. Staff were very friendly and helpful even with a rush. The jellyfish theme is very cute and they also have merch inside for sale.
Honestly one of the biggest food disappointments I've had in a while. This place is very overhyped, not worth the $6 price tag or even the stomach space. The dough wasn't good and the toppings were simple and not proportional. I would not recommend.
soooo goooood. the smoked salmon donut is a must try of course. it was so different than any donut i've had. the cinnamon toast crunch one was superrr good but very sweet. the cashier was super helpful and sweet. get there early so there's no line :)

Obviously the star of the show is the salmon spread, the donut was merely a thing for the spread to go on, wish there was a way to highlight the donut as well. The size is fairly big, I split it with another person and felt like it was a good appetizer portion. Price is a bit steep but I think due to the cost of salmon
When you're in Ketchikan, make a stop at Jellyfish Donuts. They charge a service fee for cards, so bring cash. We tried a classic glazed and a strawberry donut and both were delicious. No indoor seating and the wait can get long when ships are in port. I did overhear that locals get a discount, so definitely go if you're local. Everything was super fresh. If you want to take donuts back, or wait to eat them later, you will pay for a box.
They were alriiiiight... not worthy of the hype in my opinion. It's a small hole in the wall with a long line. The donuts were creatively made, but cold and lacking flavor. At $6 per donut, I'd expect more.
We stopped by after lunch across the street because donuts are awesome and we weren't staying close by. The flavors were intriguing, but we don't recommend taking it home and putting it in a fridge overnight for breakfast because the donut gets a little dried out. We tried moose tracks and maple-bacon. Friendly staff. Small, colorful interior so plan to take it with you. Fun kids art and merchandise on display.

This donut shop was one of those must visit places .. so we did as the tourists do and got here early for donuts and a hot beverage. First you grab a laminated order sheet & expo marker from the bin, pick your donuts, beverage and box or no box. The line is long so get your order ready. They do have all the donuts on display in case you're more a visual person. Grab a tshirt or coffee mug as a souvenir before you get to the front. Orders are filled, each donut is served warm & fresh. Coffee drinks are made one at a time so bring your patience. They have a pink salmon donut that's supposed to be savory. I didn't try it but was told it tastes like cream cheese & salmon. I got the blueberry donut and a chai latte .. the donut was delicious. On our way back to the ship the line had doubled.. it was way down the street, so stop in early.. read more

Funky, small shop serving some of the most creative donuts I've ever had. Waited about 30 minutes to get donuts, but it was absolutely worth it. Everyone at the shop is friendly, informative, and hustling to get donuts out. Their signature salmon donuts are fantastic. I ordered a half dozen to share with my family on the ship, and they were gone in minutes. I'm someone who prefers savory over sweet, so the salmon donuts really hit the sweet spot for me (tee hee). Perfectly balanced, warm, a little smoky, and surprisingly addictive. If you're in Ketchikan--even for just a few hours--this is a must-stop. I'll be dreaming about those salmon donuts long after this cruise. read more
The savory salmon donut was what brought me in, but it was not what I expected. I was expecting the donut to be light and airy since it's a brioche donut but It was too dense and doughy. The spread with smoked salmon and cream cheese mixed together could have used more smoked salmon as the cream cheese muted the smokiness of the salmon. As a result, I did not think it was worth waiting in line and paying $12 each for it. read more

I really liked the salmon donut. The salmon was smoky in flavor and had a good amount of season, depth and actually was pretty darn good with the thick doughy texture of the donut, although this "smoky salmon dip" would've been good on a number of other breads as well. The woman and man behind the counter were very cheery and sweet. I went towards the end of my port time to skip the lines since I came off the cruise ship, so there was no line but I did risk it being sold out. read more

Must donuts if you are in Alaska!! It is made to order which I like!! Unique flavors too!! Location: It is located Ketchikan Alaska. It's just a bakery with no seating inside. Great display of donuts. You would want to buy everything. Service: not much interaction, just order on the menu and they made it from their kitchen. I can see that they were just making it when I ordered. Food: I ordered their famous SALMON DONUT and as weird as it sounds it was good to be honest. It reminded me of salmon cream cheese on a bagel but instead it is on the donut! The donut itself is soft and fried well. Price rating: 6/10. It was not expensive. Definitely will come back to try other donut flavors when I come back to Alaska. read more

Came for the salmon donut even if I am not a fan of salmon. And I was honestly surprised. The salmon isn't over powering the donut was a brioche type and it paired very well with the cream cheese and chives. They have great hearty donuts both sweet and savory, that will leave you satisfied. Even if you have all you can eat on your cruise, stop by here and pick one up it's worth it! The service is friendly and the ambiance feels like you are entering your mom and pop shop that have pride in their work! read more
Compared to the Juneau location, this place is tiny! Barely enough room for maybe 10 people standing inside, this donut shop packs some mean desserts. The donuts seem to be pumped out of the fryer every so often, then slathered with icing or spread, topped with cookies and sprinkles, etc, all to order. I think they continuously fry more donuts since both of ours were served warm. It takes a bit of time to assemble - in our case, around 10 minutes. Smoked Salmon Donut ($12) - Starting with the base donut - this is a stellar brioche donut. It's not sweet at all (minimal sugar added) and instead has a rich pillowy taste, with fluffy, yet dense, and very chewy brioche texture. It's quite heavy in weight, due partly to the underlying donut, partly due to the topping - a rich smoked salmon spread with scallion sprinkled on top. They are very generous with the spread, with probably a half inch layer at the thickest, covering the entire top surface of the donut. The spread is cream cheese based, thick, salty, and full of salmon flavor. There are also small pieces of smoked salmon interspersed throughout the spread. Delicious. It's probably best to not think of this as a donut, and instead as a donut-shaped, brioche-based frybread, without the flavor of the frybread oil. (5/5) Cookies & Milk Donut ($6) - This donut combines the same stellar base, but dips it into icing and adds a sprinkling of chocolate chip cookies on top. The cookies are pretty standard - pretty sure these are packaged cookies and not baked house. They are sweet with melty chocolate due to the warm donut. The icing is sweet and pleasant to eat, balanced out with the unsweetened base donut. Note: These donuts are not like traditional yeast or cake donuts in texture. I see some reviews complaining that these donuts aren't "melt in your mouth" - it's because these are totally different in preparation. They are definitely more dense, less airy, and much more chewy than a typical yeast donut. I believe they also make their own donut base, hence the premium prices (in addition to being in a small isolated town, of course). The donuts that Jellyfish serves are absolutely stellar. I had no idea what to expect from the smoked salmon donut, but I now can say it's surprisingly one of the best donuts I've eaten in recent memory. read more

Ugh. I feel so sad writing this review because I was so looking forward to jellyfish donuts after all the hype online. Unfortunately, that was just hype and it was not great. The customer service i got was actually pretty great and helpful. The decor was super cute. The donuts look amazing. The reason I can't give a 4 or 5 boils down to 2 things: #1, i really did not enjoy the donut. It wasn't a good taste or texture imo. #2, the donut was SUPER expensive. I knew it probably would be more than average, but Holy cow i have had donuts and baked goods in Beverly Hills and LA that are cheaper than these! I was super sticker shocked but I felt bad changing my mind because the donut was already pulled out for me. Try it if you want, but it was not a must return for me. read more
Max got the famous Salmon Doughnut and I got the second famous doughnut which is blueberry.Max said he thought his doughnut was the best he has ever had I thought my doughnut was very good. The texture is more like chewy dense. It's a small shop, but that doesn't stop the crowd read more

This truly a hidden GEM and a must do in Ketchikan. The salmon donut was tasty and uniquely satisfying. The moose tracks were amazing and the bacon Donuts were truly a treat. read more
We checked this place out recently for some unique donuts. We tried the savory (maple bacon), the salmon donut, and an original glaze. My wife also tried the ice mocha. The donuts are pricey ($25 for those 3), but they are large and tasty. The salmon donut has a unique flavor with the sweet and salty. The maple bacon donut was fantastic. Definitely worth checking out. read more
Definitely a tourist rip off but still tried. The line is long and slow but employees were kind. Inside is cute with the decor. Donut flavors were unique. Donuts themselves were dense and not super amazing. The toppings were also just so so. The smoked salmon donut is just topped with a salmon cream cheese "frosting". It's pretty weak in flavor and artificial coloring in the cream cheese. These are very overpriced and not worth it IMO. read more

Don't listen to the other comments saying "over priced", "over hyped", etc. the reality is you're in Alaska lol. Prices are higher than where most of these cruisers are from. Donuts were good. Got a coconut, it was fresh and tasted exactly how I would expect it too. Got a fruity people ones. Also good! Best fruity pebble donut I've tried 10/10 would recommend... if you like fruity pebbles like I do. Salmon donut was fun, savory. Not fishy. Worth the try! All these donut are Definitely shareable. This was our first stop getting off of the cruise ship in Ketchikan! A must get is the salmon donut! It was perfectly flavored and didn't taste weird at all. I love the salmon flavors on the donut and it's very rich and creamy. My wife got the lavender donut, which was great as well! Stop by here when you get off, it's so close! read more
