I love that we have a Jellycat in Chicago. They are an expensive collection to have but they're so dang cute. Be ready to wait in line.

My birthday Jellycat! :D - A person holds a plush toy shaped like a coffee cup with a smiling face, small black eyes, and a stitched smile. The toy has a soft, light gray body with embroidered snowflake details, a whipped cream hat with pink accents, and brown legs. In the background, there are more similar plush toys on an orange shelf, indicating a retail display of themed stuffed animals.

I visited Jellycat at the Nordstrom Mall in Chicago, and while the store itself is cute, the overall experience was disappointing. The booth was filled with beautiful products, including some seasonal items, and there was even a nice little photo corner. The space is quite small since it's just a section inside the mall, but the selection was lovely. Prices ranged from $40 to $100, which is expected for Jellycat. Their concept, where they give you a little show before wrapping your gift after you choose your item, is supposed to make the experience special. Honestly, that was the main reason I went, especially since it was my birthday and I wanted something fun and memorable. But unfortunately, the lady staff member working that day seemed irritated, grumpy, and completely skipped and ignored the experience for me and for everyone else who was shopping. For the high prices we're paying, the least they could do is offer the signature experience. Without it, you're basically just buying a toy like any other store, except for triple the price. I paid $44 for something I could've bought similer elsewhere for $10-15, and didn't even get the experience I came for. If you're going just to buy a Jellycat and you don't mind the high prices, it's fine. But if you're going for the experience that other locations (like New York) are known for, then I don't recommend this spot at all. They simply don't seem to value the customer experience.

As is previously mentioned this is one of two Jelly Cat stores in the country. We expected a wait and were not surprised to arrive to a long line. We waited about an hour, maybe a little less. The line wasn't bad to me, but I was honestly expecting to wait. The store is very, very small. I would almost consider it more of a kiosk. They only allow a handful of customers in at a time. The selection felt reasonable to me. I was able to purchase three items i'd previously had my eye on, one of which was very popular and previously sold out. The inside is so freaking cute. I wanted to buy everything. I'm so glad I made the the stop while in town!

A person in a plush black cat costume with an orange crown is sitting on a light blue motorcycle with orange seats outside the Jellycat store in a shopping mall. The store has a bright blue and white color scheme, with plush toys and accessories visible inside. Several shoppers are browsing inside, and the store's signage features a cartoon cat logo. The scene captures a playful and lively retail environment.

Fun for those who have the patience to wait. My girls 10 and 8 years old were determined to wait and it was fun!

Sandmeyer's Bookstore is a gem! Everyone who works there is so friendly and it makes for a great…read moreatmosphere. It feels really cozy inside and I could spend an hour or so perusing the book selection. They also have a nice variety of bookish gifts and cards. The best part is the sale corner in the back where you can find books of all kinds marked down to really reasonable prices. I'll always stop at Sandmeyer's when I'm in the area!

What a gorgeous location to have a bookstore! Sandmeyer's Bookstore sits in Printer's Row and is a…read morevery lit and airy environment. The selection is not too bad, considering they are recovering from a flood. There are so many titles and a vast array of topics available. I found some classics, fiction, a wonderful selection in their non-fiction area, and translated books. They also provide you with lists of books that have won prizes or coincide with different regions in the USA and the world! I thought that was very helpful. It's a medium-sized store, but their displays are quite prominent. Everything is easy to grab (no ladders or staff needed to get to the high books). All the areas are labeled and it's visually pleasing. The staff was nice, too. Checkout was easy and they were friendly. Prices are standard of paperbacks and hardcovers. You are paying for an indie bookseller (I paid about $40 for two books, which includes tax). I wasn't at all disappointed with the price. They also have a loyalty program for those that are regulars. I really am happy I checked out this spot. It was beautiful and friendly. There was a lot of books and totes to chose from, it was hard not to leave with more in my bag!
