Great menu choices were available, we partook of 4 tapas-Baked Oysters, Crab Cakes,Pork tenderloin and bacon-wrapped dates with blue cheese. The soup was amazing and dinners were superb. I could not have been more pleased with his work and recipes, with his and Rhonda's personalities and willingness to engage and indulge our questions. I had inquired about meals and was planning on hiring the chef. I had questions regarding his menu different services because my friends have two different completely different taste pallets as well as all allergies. I sent over the chef exactly what he said which was two entrées and I also asked if they could provide I said if they couldn't buy dessert that was fine. He was completely rude and told me to go to a restaurant instead where I would be served better because I don't understand "the effort" it takes to provide meals for three people. We had more than enough food for our group that included 11 hungry men. He also went out of his way to adjust the dessert for a person in our party who had a tree nut allergy. When I say Chef Jekyll set the bar for private dining, I mean he set the bar not just as a chef, which he certainly did, but also as a host, waiter, clean-up staff...everything. I hired Chef Jekyll as a surprise for my wife's birthday--he worked with me for weeks on the menu (my wife has lots of dietary restrictions) as well as the planning for the actual day. He also helped me keep it a surprise and when serving the actual meal--I mean this, he is the GOLD standard for how this should be done--he was both part of our meal and, at the same time, not. He was charming and present when in the room, but also made sure we felt we had plenty of privacy to enjoy each other's company and the meal (this was not a particularly easy task, given the meal was prepared and served in a 1.5 bedroom airbnb). Due to COVID-19, I could not be with my mother who lives in Florida to celebrate her 85th birthday last month. Based on good online reviews, I contacted Chef Jekyll to cater a special custom meal for her and some close family friends. I suggested two dishes that my mother enjoys: Bahamian Mac & Cheese and meatloaf. He started the meal off with his signature crab cakes. Dessert was White Chocolate Mascarpone Cheesecake. The meal was a huge hit. My mother and her friends loved the crab cakes, and these folks know crab cakes! She was especially touched by the Bahamian Mac & Cheese. My mother and father spent more than 20 years visiting the Bahamas on their sailboat. This was one of their favorite dishes. And, last but not least, the dessert "was to die for". Chef Jekyll was easy to work with. He was careful about COVID-19 precautions and maintained proper social distancing when he delivered the food ready for my mother to serve. My party and I planned a small New Year Eve's dinner and looked for a personal chef in the Destin/Inlet Beach area. From our first phone call, I knew he was perfect for the job; he is easy to work with and gave us ample time to select a menu. He has diverse menu that is sure to have something to please everyone. He arrived promptly on the day of the event and quickly went to work. The aroma from the food was delightfully fragrant. All six courses were AMAZING! I am not a seafood lover, but his Jumbo Lump crab cakes won me over. I am in love! The crab cake was very meaty and seasoned well. For the entrée, we had the Chilean Sea Bass and Chicken Florentine. I was so full by the time the entrée arrived, I could hardly finish the meal! The food was flavorful and fresh. The only small correction I would make would be to the gumbo, it was a little salty for my taste, but it was still good! Overall I had a very pleasant experience with Chef Jekyll and I am going to recommend him to all the people I know who are visiting the Destin area and interested I having a private chef. Dinner for my extended family of 10 was the highlight of our trip to Destin so far. He and his partner/sous chef/wife Rhonda were so easy to work with and provided an amazing array of menu selections to choose from. Scheduling was easy but plan in advance. In mid July they were booked solid all the way through September. Our dinner experience started with Crab Cakes and Scallops as appetizers. Both we're spectacular, but the crab cakes were definitely the best we had ever had!! Our entrees, mushroom stuffed beef tenderloin and grouper picatta were both exquisite. The desserts were a perfect ending to a perfect meal. Don't miss the special recipe tiramisu or the story behind it. Chef Jekyll and Rhonda were both professional, entertaining and personally engaging. The icing on the cake was that the food was all served with flair and the kitchen and dishes were cleaner when that left than when they got there! Phenomenal experience from start to finish! They showed up to our beach house a couple of hours before to set up and begin cooking. They set the table, served each course, removed plates and silverware, and cleaned up everything before they left! The food was to die for, best crab cake any of our party of 6 has had. Fresh fish cooked perfectly with amazing garnish, and delicious filet that cut like butter! Then as if that wasn't enough we finished the meal with a tasty key lime pie. I expected/hoped the experience of a private chef would be great but he far exceeded our expectations. I had Chef Jekyll prepare a romantic dinner for two overlooking the ocean and I was not disappointed. First, the salad was fresh and delicious with the most amazing presentation I have ever seen. It had very unique flavorings including vinegar and sugar soaked cucumbers layered with strawberries and kiwi along with yellow peppers. The main course of shrimp and grits was awesome. Fresh shrimp is a given around here but the shrimp themselves were flavorful and cooked just right without being raw or rubbery. The sauce overlying the entire dish was rich and delicious without being overwhelmed by butter, which can occur in southern styles of shrimp and grits. Finally, the ice cream dessert with fresh fruit had a complex and flavorful reduction sauce which was truly unique. Outstanding, delicious, relaxing, worth every dime! Chef Jekyll and his team provided my family and friends with a meal that was the highlight of our dining experiences while in Destin. We had a group of 15 in our rented beach house--from kids to seniors and 3 of us are gluten free. He accommodated all of our requests. He brought all of the food, prepared everything, brought most of the cooking tools, served us through every course and left the house spotless. He was entertaining and easy to be around. It was a pleasure from beginning to end. I simply can't pick a favorite course. From the Cevichetinis to the WFHR Tiramisu our taste buds were dazzled.
