Jeff's Roofing was very thorough in the estimate and did an excellent job with our new roof. Highly recommended!

We had made an appointment with Jeff and he had scheduled us for over a month out... On labor day weekend (his scheduling, not ours). I informed him that I would have to work but that my mom would be making a long drive to be there to help things run as smoothly as possible. He emailed me the day before the holiday weekend and told me he "MIGHT not be able to make it". Cancelling is one thing but leaving us hanging is another. He was a no call no show. After I complained about it his excuse was that it was a holiday. Apparently it acceptable for him to schedule us and make us stick around the house for a MAYBE appointment that has been in the books for over a month but that since it was a holiday he felt no obligation to keep his commitment to us. Also do not expect to get them on the phone, the number is an automated recording and no where to leave a voicemail. After I got my initial quote it two weeks and multiple follow up emails to get him to respond. I cant imagine how busy it is being a Tahoe roofer during summer. But after calling around to other local roofers I got better customer service from people who said that they couldn't do the work than Jeffs Roofing. Obviously we are all on Yelp because we love ratings and reviews, I personally would go with a roofer with no ratings than pick Jeffs roofing. * Jeff had put us back on his schedule for over a week after his proposed date. I guess I wont get to find out if he would have made that appointment. After a bunch of phone calls and emails I found another roofer. I even had the common courtesy to email him in a timely fashon before our scheduled appointment and inform him that we wouldn't be needing his services. read more

Can't handle all roofing jobs. Came out looked at mine, which was not extensive. Stated that we would need a contractor? Huh? Weird.

We wanted a metal roof after the 2018 winter and asked 5 companies for bids. 2 came back, Jeff's Roofing being one of them and he offered the best price and excellent timing. We live in Boston and without personal contact through texting and email he got the job done as promised. Jeff was a pleasure to work with and did a great job. Jeff replaced our 45 year old tin roof with a slate grey, hidden-fastener, metal roof. Before starting the job, Jeff gave a prompt estimate. When we accepted, he started the job within days. Jeff's crew also needed to rebuild a dilapidated dormer, and they did a fine job there, too. Jeff is very good at communicating, keeping us updated on the progress of the roof and advising of any delays in material deliveries. Very professional. Soon after completing the job a neighbor walking her dog stopped by and exclaimed, "beautiful roof!" We certainly agree. read more

We have a house in Tahoe Vista that incurred weather damage in the snow storm 2 YEARS ago. So happy I found Jeff's roofing. He personally came to our home surveyed the damage and gave us a prompt estimate. It's unbelievabley hard to get a roofer to come do a small repair. Several companies didn't want to waste there time. Others said it would be $$$$ without looking at it and It wouldn't be scheduled until next year but they needed the deposit! Jeff said he would get it done by the end of summer and he did. Jeff's employees were professional and prompt. He even sent an extra person to do all the yard clean up. Wow and I got to keep my shirt! I called 2 roofing companies in 2018, both were very busy and only one, Jeff's roofing would stop out to take a look. Jeff told me in advance that he couldn't do the re-roof in 2018 but could in 2019. He gave me a quote with 2018 prices. In early 2019 I contacted Jeff again and he re-quoted with 2019 prices and he could do the re-roof in May 2019. Due to weather the job was started in the middle of June 2019 and completed within 10 days. I am recommending Jeff's roofing as he kept his word and his employees were dependable! Jeff did a great job for me in 2006, SO....I figured I'd use Jeff's Roofing again in 2010 to do some maintenance and repair. Jeff showed up quickly when I called and took a look to give me an estimate. I got the estimate on the spot and I told him to go ahead with the work. Jeff said he needed a heavier duty "Murphy Vent" made which would take about 3 weeks to get made and once the vent was made he would start the work. That was the second week of June 2010. I am not a full time resident in Truckee so I usually have to do follow-ups on the phone or every few weeks when I get to the mountains. Called the last week of July 2010 and was told the job would be done in the next 2 -3 weeks. First week of September 2010 and no bill so I called to see if the work was done. Was told the work would be done the following 1-2 weeks. Still no bill for the work in October 2010 so called again and was told the work would be done that week. I was at the house the entire week and no one showed up. I called again and left a message but no call back was received. The snow started heavy and never stopped enough to get the work done. So basically 4 1/2 months to complete the job which never happened. No call backs as the snow season approached even though the earlier calls were returned with promises to complete the job with no follow through. 2011- Never did get a call from Jeff's Roofing to see if I wanted the job done that I scheduled in 2010. I am still trying to get the work done because all of the roofers in the area are slammed due to the largest amount of snow and ice dams in recent history that caused significant damage. The only reason I did not give Jeff's Roofing 1 star is because of the good job he did for me in 2006. Just a word to ALL contractors- Look, besides a good job at a reasonable price, all everyone wants is honesty and a phone call or so. If you can't make it to an appointment call the customer immediately (not at the end of the day or next day) or worse just show up a day or week later, like the day you show up is when you were suppose to be there. If you are busy, let the customer you can't even think about starting for 3,4,8,10 weeks whatever it is. If what you thought would be a 1 weeks jobs looks like it may turn to 3 weeks tell the customer. Most important - use your phone- ALOT. Keeping in touch with current, former and potential customers will keep your business steady and get you good referrals. Remember business may be "feast" today but "famine" tomorrow so good referrals go a long way. Jeff actually called me in September 2011 and had the nerve to ask if I still needed the work done he bid on in June 2010, promised to do for months and never completed. He called like it was no big deal. That lost him the extra star I gave him for the work he did for me in 2006. read more

I asked for a bid to do a small job to install some larger screws on one side of the roof and repair a small whole in the metal on my metal roof. His bid was newly $800 and indicated it would take 2 men four hours each to do the job I called him back to indicate it in no way could take that long. Did not get a call back. Had the job done for $150. HIS PRICE WAS OUT OF LINE AND DISHONEST. read more

We had severe roof damage done to our metal roof during the winter of 2016. Since my husband's accident on the Hirschdale bridge in 2015 he is unable to do the work around the house that he use to. I called and got an estimate from one of Jeff's employees in May of 2017 for a tune-up. Someone came in the summer of 2017 to put in new screws. There are still splits in the roof, screws missing and I am still unable to get this man to come and look at the problems that remain. After living here for 30 plus years I expect to be treated with a little respect. We can't all live in Martis Camp nor would we want too. It would take one reliable worked who knows what he is doing and one day but I am over it. read more

Jeff Johnson Roofing deserves my 5 stars and then some. He re-roofed our 40+ year old house, barn and 16x10 shed last year .. re-sided part of our structure this year and did an amazing repair in the middle of 'Snowmaggedon' last winter that really saved us big time. Our roof unloaded and tore our chimney off sending it 40 feet into the backyard leaving us with a gaping hole in our roof and water in our living roof. Despite being closed for the season .. Jeff scrambled a team and under ridiculously difficult conditions he secured our hole.. dried it in... and saved us thousands in damages. He did our job which was huge at a very reasonable price without gouging .. and handled all the extra costs in the same fair and competent manner. We will use Jeff for all our roofing needs and highly recommend him to anyone seeking a local business owner with great moral and ethical standards. His employees love him too!
