I get my teeth cleaned, brush, use a water pik, and floss. The lower molar root canal done by endodentist Dr, Meckler in April 2021 was just removed by an oral surgeon in June 2023. It was cracked in 10 little pieces, with a hole underneath it and an abscess. I was shocked. Only 2 years after the root canal was done? Also - Unlike my painful experience in 2021 with a tight jaw for 4 - 6 weeks after endodentist Dr. Meckler did that root canal - I had no problems with jaw tightness afterwards after the oral surgeon removed that same root canal molar in 2023. Will never do a root canal again. Been reading on several holistic websites about the health dangers of root canals; and sorry I didn't just go to the oral surgeon and get that molar removed and have an implant two years ago. read more

I just moved from the Bay Area last year and needed a new Endodontist, which at 50+ years old makes you nervous. Jeff was recommended to me from Mic Falkel. (Great Dentist). I had to have an old root canal investigated for infection. Well there was an infection, and sure enough it got out of hand. Post procedure, because of the sensitivity of the procedure. He actually met me on a Sunday night to help with this emergency procedure to relief PAIN. Who does that anymore?? I also got texts, personally from him, checking in on me. Again who does that?? Dr. Meckler is the consummate professional. Skilled, talented, and careful to explain the procedures he needs to perform. Years ago, a hotshot young dentist thought he could do a root canal on his first day on the job. Jeffrey Meckler was able to correct the damage done despite my having ignored the problem way too long. The procedures were complex and one lengthy, but in the end, the good doctor saved my tooth and my jaw recovered from a deep abscess. More recently I needed a root canal. Quick and painless, the procedure took less time than a cheap haircut. On that visit I forget my insurance cards, but the extremely kind office staff helped me, on the phone, get my insurance sorted out. Nobody wants to go to an endodontist. When you NEED an endodontist, Dr. Meckler is the only one I would want to see. read more

I needed a root canal, but my dentist said it was too complicated and sent me to a second dentist who said it was impossible. Then I was sent to Dr. Meckler who managed to do it even though he said several times how very difficult it was! This is a first class operation in a beautiful office with outstanding assistants. I was sent to Dr. Meckler for a root canal on a tooth that had a crown and was really worried about it. I had a really bad experience with having this type of treatment and it was just a regular tooth, so I thought this would be horrible. It wasn't. Dr. Meckler is amazing! I always fight off anxiety anytime I get in that chair, it's a struggle to be semi relaxed so I was surprised to find myself almost immediately at ease. Something about his demeanor is incredibly soothing. I was impressed by how much thought was put into the patient experience at this office, there are even videos for you to watch during the procedure. It isn't very common to find expertise and an abundance of kindness in one person, it's like finding a unicorn, a priceless gem! The assistants and office staff are nice as well, and they called to see how I was the day after treatment. If I ever need RCT again I will happily go back here and recommend them to everyone else. read more

I'm so relieved! If you are absolutely terrified to get a root canal like I was, then look no further. This is the place to go! I was literally shaking because I was so nervous for the procedure and I am wishing that I had not wasted any energy on that. The staff is incredible and made me feel super comfortable. The office feels like a beautiful spa. But the most amazing part is Dr. Meckler. He is super calm, competent and best of all...my root canal was 100% PAINLESS!!!! I relaxed to great music and a big screen tv on the ceiling playing a tropical fish aquarium scene. One tip: get the laughing gas and all is good in the world. I will never go anywhere else. Great doctor and staff. Had a root canal redone by Dr Meckler and it was completely painless

I was in considerable pain with a tooth that had already been assessed by another endodontist. That other specialist misdiagnosed which tooth it was, believing it to be an adjacent tooth, that had already been subjected to a root canal. The other doctor thought that a retreatment might not be successful and that I would have to have it extracted, then implanted. Fortunately, my dentist, suggested I get a second opinion before taking out the suspect tooth. The other office had made me wait for 3 weeks to get that diagnosis due to a number of delays and lack of communication, after canceling my initial appointment due to a scheduling issue on their part. By the time I got in to see Dr. Meckler, the pain was constant, interrupting every aspect of my life. The other office had gone on an extended vacation over the holidays, leaving without any firm resolution of the issue or alternative doctor to assist with the problem. Dr. Meckler was obviously well-trained, and committed to a high level of competence. He was articulate answering my questions. He quickly ascertained that it was not the "suspect" tooth, but the one next to it, his staff adjusted his schedule and he fixed it in about 45 minutes in one visit. I almost had the wrong tooth extracted due to poor advise from another office, which would have meant long hours and substantial expense with a tooth implant, which are not guaranteed to take or last a lifetime. I was completely out of pain when the numbing shot wore off hours later. And the original "suspect" tooth that had already been subjected to a root canal by a now retired endodontist, was demonstrably done very poorly, as explained to me in a subtle way by my dentist and others. The point being that having a license to practice this speciality does not mean services are equally provided. So it does not bother me that another office might charge less money than this office, as pointed out by another reviewer since there clearly is a difference in skill level and commitment to the practice. Dr. Meckler's office has been remodeled since it was a former pediatrician's office, to the point of being unrecognizable. It was tastefully done, is relaxing without being ostentatious and has TV screens with fish tank videos to look at while on your chair being treated. I appreciate having this level of care available in our small city. And happily they do not rely on cheap tricks like unwelcome, obnoxious scents as some other medical offices are now doing. read more

Having just been referred to Dr. Meckler by my primary dentist Dr. Stephen Ikemiya, he and staff worked wonders to get me in their schedule for root canal the next day as I am coming up on knee surgery in two weeks. As I am a scaredy cat at the dentist, when I arrived the staff was so calming in their attitude and their demeanor. This dentist uses sedation dentistry methods and they are very effective. I have no sense of the actual procedure and that is fine with me. All things considered I highly recommend Dr Meckler and his staff. read more

I had a front tooth with a sclerosed root canal (and ongoing infection), which another dentist gave up on and recommended extraction after an unsuccessful attempt to go through the rout canal and clean it. Dr Meckler had to break a sweat (because, as I could tell, the case was hard), but he succeeded. His success at doing this rout canal speaks highly of his professionalism. He had to use a microscope, periodical X-rays and some modern hi-tech device in the process. I experienced no pain, not even when the local anesthesia was being injected - the gum was preemptively numbed with an anesthetic soaked into a cotton swab. Every step of the procedure was explained to me in smallest detail. The assistant was knowledgeable (also a dentist?) and accommodating. Among other things, she made sure to remove saliva timely and thoroughly, and, when I complained about my jaw muscles being sore from having my mouth open, she put a special block between my teeth, and that provided comfort throughout the procedure. Overall, my experience was great, better than anticipated, even though my expectations were already hight. The only recommendation I would make is to display on the screen a picture of fish with slower motion than it is now - to calm anxiety better (they have a television mounted on the ceiling, which you can see while lying on the chair during the procedure - very cool!). The price tag was pretty high, $1,200, but well worth it, I think. I have a good dental insurance, but this office is out of network, which amounts to more out-of-pocket expenses. However, I believe it is better to spend more money and get the best quality care than to save a little. read more

I found Dr. Meckler's office while browsing the internet. I was looking for a second opinion on a tooth that my general dentist told me I had to get extracted. I called Dr. Meckler's office and his staff made an appointment for me to come in the next day. The office had an amazing atmosphere from the moment I walked in. Dr. Meckler examined my tooth and concluded that I didn't require an extraction or a dental implant, but that I simply needed a root canal along with a crown. We set up an appointment at the office for my next visit before I left. I came back in less than a week later and I've been loving my new tooth since. I experience a small amount of sensitivity in the beginning, however, I was told that this is to be expected and as promised all pain and full functionality has returned to my molars. I am a general dentist and have referred many patients to Dr. Meckler for endodontic treatment ( "root canal") for over 10 years. I have never had any complaints and only great comments regarding his treatment. Dr. Meckler is a true professional and one of the best endodontists in Monterey. I would send my family to him and would see him myself if I needed a root canal. Occasionally a patient will have some discomfort following endodontic treatment that is unavoidable regardless who does the treatment but these cases are extremely rare. I con not recommend Dr. Meckler highly enough. read more

After a visit to Dr. Meckler, here's what think: Technically, Dr. Meckler may be good at what does, but the financial costs are higher than the average and his office is certainly not doing a good job: - First: they do not accept MOST of insurances - Second: They DO NOT tell you if they take your insurance or not, and then you would be shocked when you get your statement of account. - Third: They over charge you than any other endodontist in the area I recently had a root canal there and found out that the charges were almost a time and half than anywhere else.....check the dentists in salinas, they are much cheaper and they accept most of the insurances. I really am shocked to see that Dr. Meckler has such terrible reviews! Like most people, I was dreading my appointment to have a root canal. I had barely gotten to the desk to sign in by the time the staff called me back to get started. They were very friendly and helpful, which I wasn't at all expecting. Dr. Meckler shortly joined me in the room. After introducing himself and shaking my hand, he explained what he would be doing in full, so nothing would catch me off guard. He was more than happy to answer any questions I had. Once I was ready he immediately got started. I didn't feel a thing! Now, three weeks later and still no pain, I thank Dr. Meckler profusely. I have seen Dr. Meckler now for two separate root canals and I have nothing but praise for him and his caring team. I had an irrational fear of root canals at first but by the time the pain gets bad, you just want him to fix it. He is wonderful with pain control and making sure you are comfortable during the procedure. The office has a nice Zen feeling to it and puts you at ease. My most recent procedure was done on an emergency basis as my regular dentist was unavailable and I suspected that I would need a root canal anyway. I contacted his office and they were able to get me in and have the procedure done that same day. I cannot strrss how grateful I am to him and his team for addressing the issue so quickly. My root canal experience I just had was great. I went to Dr. Meckler today to fix a root canal that another Monterey endodontist (at another practice) messed up on. Dr. Meckler is kind, understanding and very competent. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable. His office staff and dental assistant were nice and helpful. I completely trust Dr. Meckler- he is both highly intelligent and beyond sweet. Also, they have tv's for people to watch while getting worked on-- the office is beautiful. He also said that he will call me tomorrow to follow-up. That is above and beyond! I am so happy that he was able to fix my root canal. I will highly recommend him to anyone who needs a root canal.
