The root canal took an hour during which I felt zero pain. YEAH! I was given detailed instructions concerning what to take when the numbing wore off, what to watch for and how to take care of the temporary filling until the permanent one could be done. (FYI, they do a temporary so that if there is a problem, they don't have to remove a permanent filling to address the problem) They told me to wait for 2 weeks to get the permanent fill, but I have to wait 3 weeks due to the possibility of jury duty during week 2. They have a mini fridge available with waters in the waiting room and a coffee station. Once called back, the appointment felt rushed. I had imaging done and then had a 2-3 minute interaction with Dr. Max. There was no discussion of options, risks, etc. I was prescribed an antibiotic and told to schedule the next two appointments for root canal retreatment. I was a bit disoriented. I did as asked but eventually cancelled those two follow up appointments and scheduled with a different practice with more time for patient care and education.

The office is very clean and up to the latest word in dentistry and endodontics. The staff, Taylor and Jessica, were wonderful, and Taylor called us today to ask how my wife was doing. The doctor was second to none this time again. My wife didn't feel a thing during procedure or today. Dr. Max asked her how she was feeling every step of the way during his 1.5-hour procedure. He explained every step and every X-Ray and scan before, during, and after the treatment (several X-Rays and CT scans), and he patiently answered our (especially my) every question (and I had many of them). How amazing is that?! He is so gentle, kind, and caring! SECOND TO NONE! 2023: I just found out that Dr. Max opened his new Grayslake Endodontics practice, and I decided to share our experience. I visited Dr. Max for root canal treatment twice 1-1.5 years ago in his previous office. He performed an extensive diagnostics and treated my root canal, and it was painless. My wife had her root canal done by Dr. Max as well, and she had great experience with him as well. He is not only an excellent endodontist/dentist/doctor with gentle bedside manners, but he is very down-to-Earth friendly guy.
