I don't even have to think twice about giving Dr Ragland's orthodontist 5 stars. It is definitely a very pleased atmosphere to be in. The staff here is beyond nice and make you feel welcomed. The best part about Ragland Orthodontist is that they have very reasonable prices! I've recently had to get a retainer replacement and only was charged half priced! Not only this but they gave me a free mouth guard! Thank you again Dr Ragland for this kind generous discount. This definitely made my month: year. I usually reframe from writing reviews due to the simple fact that there is a general shortage of people going above and beyond the norm to provide customer service. I cannot speak highly enough Dr. Jeffrey Ragland. My daughter has passed the half way point with her braces and the experience as well as the reasonableness of Dr. Ragland through this process has been so refreshing compared to the many stories i have heard from friends that have gone elsewhere. He has a way of speaking to the patient, regardless of their age, in a way that is reassuring and very informative. I would highly recommend Dr. Ragland to anyone that is seeking that personal attention and quality service that seems to be missing more and more in our society. I also do not believe you will find a more reasonably priced orthodontist providing the quality of service in this area or Lancaster county. read more

If I could give it a negative review I would..my daughter came here for a "free consultation", a referral from our dentist. It was clear that they only cared about how much insurance money they could scam out of us, and he was clearly setting his prices based on how much insurance would pay. He even stated at one point that "you have good insurance." I specifically asked the nurse or whatever she was if the consultation would cost and she told me it was free. Two weeks later I get a explanation of benefits - they had billed my insurance! I called and asked about it and they said they don't charge people without insurance, only if you have insurance will they charge you for the consultation. Sounds pretty much like fraud to me! I would not recommend this place, but if you go there, don't let them know you have any insurance.. read more

Both of my children have gone to Dr. Ragland and we have had nothing but wonderful service. Dr. Ragland and his office staff is nothing but friendly and professional. Less than friendly service and difficult hours to schedule appointments, Dr Ragland's office is certainly not my top pick for orthodontists. I have been going there for about three years now, and it is safe to say that their service has been on the rapid decline. In the beginning, I was in and out in about five minutes. But for the same appointments now, it takes me a little over an hour just to get my braces adjusted. Staff members chat in the lounge rather than work on patients, and extremely absurd hours make appointments for students and working adults nearly impossible. In addition, self conflicting reports come from various staff members on the progress patients are making. For example, I was supposed to get my braces off in April, it is now September! (I suspect it is for more money). And, as crazy as it sounds, parents are NOT permitted into the examination room. The last time I was in the office, there was a mother and her five year old boy, and the mother wasn't allowed to accompany her young child into the back. Reason being: I suspect it is that employees do not want adults to see them slacking off in the back rather than helping their patients. In all fairness to this office, they get the job done well. I just wish they could step it up in the service and proficiency categories. read more

I've been coming here for YEARS and I can count on ONE finger the number of times we have been taken back on time. They are always slow and running behind by ATLEAST 15 min. I don't know if they overbook like the airlines to maximize their bottom line or just have no sense of urgency, but your time is obviously not valued as a customer. It is now 40 minutes PAST our appointment time and we are STILL waiting, and unfortunately I can't even make the excuse that this is their high volume time. There is hardly anyone here. Front desk staff are minimally polite, but to say they are friendly is a stretch. There are plenty of them sitting around at the desk making the occasional snide comment and having very audible personal conversations ...about nothing even interesting. Staff in the back are always pleasant and informative, and yes with a smile! Front office carpet is obviously dirty for being so early in the morning. Bring your hand sanitizer because you never know what else hasn't been cleaned. Shop around and be a smart consumer. There has to be a better experience out there for the astronomical amount they charge you. read more

I did not want to give this place any starts but it wouldn't let me post if not so they don't even get he 1 star! My daughter got her braces about 2 years ago and she has never once been able to walk into this office and be treated nicely,the chubby lady at the front desk is beyond rude and disrespectful and no it doesn't end with her she's just the worst one,the doctor himself pretty much always has an attitude.My daughter is supposed to get her braces off in a few weeks and all of the sudden out of no where she has a small gap in between her front teeth,it wasn't even there before we got he braces!!She had gotten the braces for an over bite! I most definitely would NOT recommend this orthodontist to anyone,my other daughter also needs braces and I promise you I will be going to someone else for her.This place literally disgusts me. read more

Dr. Ragland is an excellent provider. My daughter has been receiving services there for over a year and I have never had a problem. The service is wonderful and the staff are very helpful. When my daughter had problems with her braces, they got her in very quickly. I have never had a problem scheduling appointments. THey have a technique for scheduling appointments where repairs are done in the morning and other types of appointments are scheduled at other times of the day. They try to be flexible within that time frame. I have never had a complaint from my daughter about having to go back alone - in fact she appreciates it! I am writing in response to the review below. It's unfortunate that you had such an unpleasant experience at our office. As a 26 year employee of this practice, I would like to respond to a few things you have stated. Your concern: length of appointments and scheduling: In the beginning of orthodontic treatment, the adjustments are quite routine and basically a simple retie or wire placement. As treatment progresses, each individual patient's wires become quite unique to their specific needs. The need for bends and very intricate details are done according to the tooth positions to obtain the optimal root movements. These appointments, later on in treatment, naturally take more time to complete. Each patient is given the time and attention to detail in order to provide them with quality results. Secondly, each patient is informed of our hours at the very first appointment so when scheduling, there shouldn't be any surprises as to what hours are available. I also believe that our new patients are made aware that some appointment will be required to be done in the mornings or more specific times than others. Your concern: Inconsistent information: Next, as an assistant, I can say that when any of us are asked about the progress of patient or when the braces will be removed, we consult the original treatment plan and tell the patient their estimated removal date. Then we inform them that when the doctor checks them that day, that he would be able to tell them if that estimate is still the target date. Assistants and staff members do not give patients removal dates without the direct consultation with the doctor. And as far as leaving the braces on longer in order to get more money, I must say that this statement is inaccurate. The fee for treatment is just that. The only time that I know of any additional charges being added on for extended treatment time is when it is due to poor cooperation with headgear, elastics, keeping scheduled appointments or careless breakage of the appliances causing a gross extension of treatment and this is always documented and discussed with parents. It is of no benefit to us to keep your braces on longer that necessary, I can assure you of that. Your concern: parents accompanying children: As for our policy regarding parents in the treatment area, in our years of experience, most patients, regardless of age, respond much better when the parents are not right by their side. Most of our patients, even the youngest ones, feel a sense of pride when they come back on their own and are able to have their appointment completed all by themselves. If there is ever a concern about this, it is addressed and a solution is made. I can say that this has only been an issue a few times and once the patient becomes comfortable with our office, they want to come back on their own. The doctor is always accessible and if there is ever a need to speak to him at any time, it is done in the privacy of one of our consultation rooms as opposed to our open-bay treatment room which is usually buzzing with activity. Your concern: chatting staff members: I do apologize that you felt that the staff members were chatting in the lounge area. Our "lounge area" is located far away from the treatment room and is basically just a place for us to hang our coats and keep our belongings. So perhaps we weren't in the lounge area when you are describing your experience. I will say that our mood is light-hearted and yes, we may exchange playful banter between assistants and our patients. However, this takes place during the course of an appointment never instead of working on patients. Our goal is to have patients brought back and discharged in a timely manor so our schedule is on time. It, once again, is not to anyone's benefit to have our schedule running behind. I love my job. I enjoy meeting all of the patients and their families. Over my 26 years there, I have shared celebrations as well as heartaches with alot of these patients. They become like family as we treat parents, children, and siblings. I don't take anything about by job lightly, however, I do try to make each day bright, cheery and a pleasant experience. I know that I have been able to make a difference, however small, in many people's lives. I wish that, with all of the concerns you expressed above, that you would have brought them to our attention and we could have sat down and talked about each and every one of them so that your experience with us could have been one that was filled with the mutual respect and joy that so many of our patients have expressed. read more
