I dreaded it for DAYS but when the moment finally came, I was stressed out yes, but the staff were super nice and friendly and I was eligible for gas which lessened my anxiety by A LOT. Also they always kept me in the loop as to what they were doing and I was never belittled or made to feel like I was an awful person (I am super self-conscious about my teeth) and they actually made a plan with me for future appointments. 100/10, the best dental experience I've ever had and they are GREAT with dental anxiety. Will definitely be going back. My only critique is the office in Lawrence is a liiiiittle difficult to spot if you don't know what you're looking for. But I'd say it's worth it.

He gave me very clear instructions on what to do before and after surgery and a laminated page of instructions to make sure I would remember. He has always been sedated for his regular dental work at our dentist's office in Lawrence, and does well there. We love our regular dentist, but he cannot remove impacted wisdom teeth, so we needed an oral surgeon. We went to 2 oral surgeons in Lawrence for consultations. Both told us to go to the hospital for the sedation and extractions. It seemed to me like they were more afraid of the word "autism" than anything. A friend recommended Oral Surgery of KS and Dr. Ferrell specifically. WOW. What a nice guy ~ professional and compassionate. He was amazing with my son. We were able to do the consultation with the doctor answering my son's questions on his level, then meet alone with the doctor. The actual oral surgery was done immediately following the consultation. So, there were no hours or days of anxiety between the consultation and the surgery. We went to the Topeka office. The office staff was friendly. The place was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Farrell and this office. I wish we had found him first.

I have been very fortunate to have healthy teeth although I have worn dental braces for a number of years, as a child as the alignment of my teeth was extremely bad and would have led to losing my teeth at an early age and having to wear dentures. I wore braces and had orthodontic treatment since grade 1 through me telling the dr. (While in college) Um, you have to get these off by a certain date as I'm getting married and moving to a different city, I won't be back- wind this up and finish. And then again as an adult (to correct what the original orthodontist did as a child). To say that I was extremely nervous was an understatement given my orthodontic care as a child. They probably didn't realize the extent of my fear but I did say that I was nervous. They all kept me informed about what to do and what the next step was of the treatment and what would happen. After that they scheduled my husband, and said his insurance was accepted. The dentist saw him for maybe 5 mins, never checked his teeth.... Gave him an "aqualizer", and charged us $40 for it, with in 10 days it broke, so I called to replace it and the secretary told me that she would not replace it or sell him another one until my account was paid in full. Mind you we have SEPARATE insurances and separate accounts. I am very displeased with the service I have received from this office.

I was referred to Dr. Scott Barber for a tooth extraction. I had never before had a tooth…read moreextracted, not even a wisdom tooth. As a result, I did not know what to expect, and I had heard stories about the need for pain medication afterwards. But it could not have gone more smoothly. Dr. Barber, his nurse, and the receptionist in the lobby were very helpful, friendly, and professional. Everything was clearly explained to me in advance. The extraction was done rapidly and efficiently. It is now seven days since the extraction, and I have not even needed to take an Aleve or anything else. The discomfort was minimal. I have total confidence in Dr. Barber. If you read about him on his practice's web site, you will find that he is Board Certified with excellent credentials and experience. If I should ever again need a tooth extracted or any other kind of oral surgery, I will most certainly choose Dr. Barber.
