I saw a Facebook post in December about a Carols (as in Christmas carols, Cookies and Cocoa event on a Sunday for a few hours and decided to stop on by. Lemme tell you, best decision ever. Large parking lot, which was nearly full, inside was packed. Employees were friendly. There are a lot of books here and several study rooms. There seems to be a lot of community outreach programs here. Great resource for the area! I always am a fan of libraries and recommend this for any and everyone!

This Jefferson Parish library is by far my favorite library because there are plenty of books to choose from lots of reading and quiet time space in computers.

I longboard here almost n every week to enjoy the quietness of this massive dome. Its perfect for studying and I can Walk here since I live in the subdivision in the back of this place! Highly suggest you to come here if you want to meditate or have some peace. The book Selection is unlimited since its a library and the librarians are mostly kind. There are also a lot of events here too for young and teens!

This review and 5 star rating is my experience participating in the "Who Dun It?" Book Club. As the name implies the "Who Dun It?" Book Club is a murder mystery book club. We meet once a month (virtually) to discuss the selected book. It's hosted by the clever, funny, and calm- natured librarian, Shelby. I joined the book club in May 2021 to accomplish two goals 1) Read more 2) Meet new people. The "Who Dun It?" Book Club accomplishes both and so much more. Murder mystery is a new genre for me however the books selected have been interesting and the meetings attendees are fun, articulate, and well- read women and men with unique opinions. Intellectual, adult conversations for the WIN! I look forward to meeting with this group as we share our critiques of the selected reading and author. New members are always welcome! It's free to join and the books selected are usually available at several NOPL locations, or ebook for FREE! The virtual meetings occur every 3rd Thursday of the month. Hope to see you at the next meeting! http://events.nolalibrary.org/event/5006741

For #ThankYouThursday, I have to write a stellar review for the library. This is the library I use…read moremost often, and I love having its presence here in the neighborhood. Pre-COVID and during COVID, I could always rely on the library (and this branch) as a place to go to discover books and indulge my love for reading. They have a great selection of reading material, plenty of computers to use, and an incredibly pleasant and helpful staff. There are so many things to appreciate at the library from their cool programming (book clubs, crafting, etc.) to the free resources (webinars, books, audiobooks, magazines, etc.) to the physical space that is welcome and free for all to use! I've found my love for reading again during quarantine, and I've used the library to rent E-books and online magazines. I just checked out a physical book and had to call to set up a pickup time and the person on the phone was lovely and helped me set it up and answered questions. They keep expanding their options for everyone to use the library during COVID. Libraries are essential to our society and I have to thank them for so much! #ThankYouThursday

This library is a bit odd. It's located inside one of Chalmette High School's extended campus…read morebuildings on the north side of Judge Perez Dr. There's a driveway near the main door where you can drop people off, but you're supposed to park in the lot behind the building (off Palmisano). I wish they had like a drive-up - or nearly drive-up - book return like a number of libraries do. Anyway, other than that, it's a good little library. It has a surprisingly decent selection of books and the librarians are friendly. And there's one big "secret" everyone should take advantage of: St. Bernard resident/library card holders automatically qualify for an Orleans Parish library card too! You have to go to a New Orleans branch to get one, but it's well worth it.

As far as space usability, this place is on par with other universities. The book stacks are less. The technology is more present and the space is more welcoming of an evolving culture. Their catalog is straightforward enough, but the book rows are all over the place and sometimes difficult to follow. Not to mention the fact that the majority of the stacks are in low-ceiling, basement like spaces, giving one the sense that they are in the opening ghost scene from "Ghostbusters." Also, for a library building, Howard Tilton is rather noisy. Of course, people will chitchat as they do, but the HVAC units are constantly roaring and the staircases echo like anything. If you get a couch seat on the third floor while the sun is still up, then I'll admit, it makes for a lovely reading space. Also... thank the good lord they put a PJ's coffee inside!
