When they came out, they got my wife (I work all day, so my wife had to deal with these people). Upon doing their inspection, they told my wife the following which was texted to me by her (see photo 1). We went ahead and hired this company to do the work and make those replacements (see photo 2 on how it looked before the work was done. What they said was going to be a week took almost three weeks and several phone calls with an update on what's going on. They came and did the work and we paid them. I'm going to assume they weren't going to think we were going to look at their work (please see photos 3 and 4 which is what we paid roughly 1800 dollars for). Needless to say I wasn't happy, and neither was my wife. She reached out to them and communicated what I thought was going on with their workmanship (please see photo number 5 for their reply). For them to actually argue that the collar they put on wasn't almost completely if not totally mangled and bent is absurd. Their reply was beyond mind boggling. We decided to have them come out and replace the mangled and bent collar (see photo 6 for the replaced collar). Also see photo 7 of the mess on my lawn they didn't clean up. The fact that they replaced the shoddy workmanship did help and ultimately prevent a complaint with the BBB and/or a potential lawsuit, but that is the last business I will do with these clowns. I will be giving my money and repeat business to a different chimney/fireplace company. Please take this review into consideration if you choose to go with this business.

Review of D&M Concrete driveway installation on 04-12-2024…read more Choosing D&M Concrete was a Disappointing Mistake. I thought because the company installed a gorgeous gleaming driveway for our neighbor, we could expect the same. Alas, my mistake. Instead of our neighbor's smooth, white finish, our driveway is a mottled mess. (It rained 5 hours after the concrete was poured. No plastic cover was used, despite the early April date.) Instead of razor sharp, straight, even, narrow joints - like the other driveway - our driveway has fat, uneven, rough, crooked joints. ('Hand-crafted' was the explanation given.) Instead of our neighbor's one tiny half-inch crack at the end of one joint, after an entire Wisconsin winter - our driveway has cracks that run all the way down to the base at four (4!) joint ends, with one crack running all the way across the width of the driveway, in less than a month from the day it was poured! ('Those cracks are normal' is the excuse we were given.) And the sidewalk to the porch has an incline instead of the step we discussed, which could prove deadly come winter. We agreed to every upgrade that was suggested to us, bringing the cost to almost $9,000, but the mottling, poor finishing, cracks, and missing step were as gratis as the Western edge, which can barely be seen with the rain damage. ('It will even out in a few months' we were told.) It is a family-run business. Both Dad and Son are friendly and charming, with calming words but no redress beyond a reseal after the rain. (It rained again within a few hours, so the reseal was ineffective.) If I had it to do over, I would not have a driveway installed in April, and I would not gamble on D&M bringing their best game. P.S. Dan, the owner, asked me to wait until September before posting my review of the driveway they installed for us this past April, to give the mottled finish time to 'even out', so I waited. Here are pictures I took today, almost 5 months after the installaton. The mottling, sloppy finish, and wide joints are still evident. The cracks along the sides of the joints are partially hidden by fill, by they are still there, not getting any smaller. I still consider our choice of D&M Concrete a disappointing mistake.

Unfortunately, my old house has knob and tube and for any new fixtures etc we've had to call people out since it's against code (and just plain unsafe) to mess with knob and tube. Knob and tube doesn't work like newer wiring and there's no rhyme or reason why it goes where it does. THAT would be why the guy was banging on Sally's walls. He was trying to figure out the run pattern and where the wiring actually was. They are the only electrician I have used and they have also been great with my clients I recommended them too (I'm a realtor and know many tradespeople). As with anything on here, ymmv, but I don't think it's fair to hit a small family-owned business (at least two generations, maybe three) for something just because you don't understand the specifics of what they are doing. They treat their people well, do great work, and I'm having them back to my house in a few days to give me a quote for removing all of the knob and tube. Isn't that what's supposed to matter? How they actually are doing their job? It's also a Union shop which is important to me, although I've found their prices to be closer to the non-union shops in town. This was the next afternoon, after MG&E said there was a broken weatherhead that need replacing first before they could reattach the wire. But the afternoon of the 11th brought nonstop thunderstorms and the technician waited in his truck for a break in the rain to get out and fix it, but it didn't come. He went home and I went to my family's house since I had no power for dinner. When I came home, I got a text saying Ader had returned and completed the repair.
