Great stuff. Found just I was seeking. He\nHas a vast inventory of beautiful things, Yugosspend a lot of time in here digging and digging

Overpriced and very rude. I'm not sure if JEFF is truly going out of business because the prices certainly did not indicate the owner wanted anything gone, but I can also understand why the shop would be going out of business. I fully intended to spend at least $200 if not more today but walked out with nothing. The shop is very overcrowded and things piled on top of things. This could be fine and charming if it were not for the fact that the owner yells at you if you even breathe near something. My friend brushed up against something because its nearly impossible not to in there and he started yelling at them for "touching things". They did not touch anything but there is hardly space to move without brushing against things! Either tidy up and sell things so people have room to walk or take the loss and let people touch and actually browse. The selection is nice but things are in poor condition from sitting for so long. Some items in the window are sun bleached, but still going for hundreds of dollars. Also while we were there the owner started yelling at who I presume was one of his employees or a business partner for talking to a customer for too long. read more

Do not step foot in the store! As soon as my sisters and I walk in he starts following us. I pick something up to look at and he immediately barks "do not touch anything. This stuff is expensive." I thought to myself ok weird but whatever. I then walk over to a pile of pictures I start flipping through them and again he says to me "don't touch anything!" I asked him how I'm supposed to see the ones in the back if I can't touch anything? He says to me "you buy the one in the front and then you can see the rest of them" I literally thought he was joking. I say "are you serious??" He then said "my shop my rules" we walked out immediately. This man has a very dark energy about him my sister was creeped out the second we walked in. read more

If I could I would leave a 0 star review. The selection was great and I was excited to look through and potentially purchase an item but Jeff wouldn't let me touch anything under the assumption I wouldn't buy/cannot afford items in the store. Felt very "Pretty Woman". I turned around and walked out. After I left I went on yelp and I realized this is how he's been behaving towards clients for 8+ years. If you have the means I would purchase from other amazing antique stores: Pasadena Antique Center, Wilton x Melrose, The Mart Vollective.. to name a few. All power to Jeff, it's his business and how he wants to run it. But if you are reading this Jeff, your attachment to these material things is causing you to project a nasty energy towards unassuming individuals and I hope you find peace. read more

This shop rules - I've read all the other reviews and I think most of them are missing the obvious charm of both Jeff the man and JEFF the store. Great collection, wonderful shopkeep, 5 stars. read more

What a strange experience. To start with, we walked down a couple blocks after a great lunch Canter's Deli (5 star). When we got there the owner was sitting right in front of the door. We looked in the window for a couple minutes and he said nothing and did not move. Finally I asked him if the store was open. He looked us up and down and then said, Sure, you guys look like you know how to look." Clearly, his position at the front door was to keep out anybody that did not meet his standard. Once we got in, the volume of stuff is overwhelming. Some very interesting, some less so but all way, way over priced. A fun place to look around, if you get in, but crazy expensive. I think the guy is a high class hoarder who really does not want to sell his treasures. read more

This shop is great. Layers and layers of great stuff. Be prepared to spend some time. It could take you a while if you want to see it all. And Jeff plays the best music. He doesn't sell his prized music collection, but the tunes enchant you when you're shopping. And he may even make you a cocktail! They don't have shops like this anymore. A great place for amazing antique pieces and great finds. I'll can't wait to go back. read more

So...walk into the store and a guy wearing shorts that say "sucks to suck" is standing in the very narrow walkway talking to a young couple. My teenage son politely says "excuse me" twice the man does not move. I walk up say "excuse me" even louder and the man does not move. I literally have to squeeze by because the aisle way is small and the store is piled with objects. I find something I like and want to buy. I'm walking up front to pay for it and realize, via the conversation he is still having with this couple that this man is Jeff. I find a lull in their conversation to ask him what the object that I'm holding is; I want to buy it, because it is beautiful even though I don't know exactly what it is, I say "Is this a door handle?" He openly SCOFFS at me and tells me it's a car hood ornament and it's $150 dollars. I say "cool, it's beautiful do you know for what kind of car?" He responds to me with his back turned after he is already headed out the front door talking to the young couple again, "Buick I think." To me and to the couple "I'll be right there these people aren't buying anything anyways." That sealed the deal. I am currently waiting on the shipment of my 1931 style flying lady goddess Cadillac hood ornament that I just purchased online for $50 less and yes it "sucks to suck." Super Rude. read more

Jeff is mercurial. Viciously mean to some people, charming to others. He drinks and can be very hurtful. Be careful with this guy. He does have some cool stuff and if per chance he likes you for some reason will give you a pretty good deal. read more

Stay away from this place. This man is a crook at best not to mention that he has a very unprofessional demeanor toward a potential client. My wife and I were walking by his store recently and noticed two chandelier table lamps in his window. The next day I called him to inquire about it, and he said they were "$3,000 a pair". I asked if that was the best he could do and he said "yes" all of it with an attitude mind you! He also said that he could not authenticate them nor did he have any information about their origin. Some antique shop! A few days later I decided to have one of my female colleagues in the office give it a try just out of curiosity. Immediately he quoted her a price of $200 less with a tone that appeared there was room for further negotiation if she went it, but more importantly, he also said that they were turn of the century items!! Shop here knowing that you'd be paying a significant mark up for a piece of junk that you are only buying because you like it and there is no real value to it. read more

Dope outift, music, and collection. Awesome store! The owner is real nice, if you really take your time to getting to know him. Worth it to check out! read more

He has beautiful stuff but the guy is super rude!!! I told her your stuff is expensive! He responded because you are cheap!!! I wish I could give him 1 star! read more

What a dump. The proprietor is an unabashed jerk. He guards the door as if to say "get off my lawn!" He prices things on the fly since nothing is priced; i think he prices things based on what you look like, but in reverse. If he thinks you might be able to pay what it's worth, he overprices it so you won't buy it. I don't think he wants to sell anything. It is merchandised like a hoarders home; stacked 4 foot deep so it's impossible to see anything up close that isn't on the narrow aisles. The place and everything in it is absolutely filthy. The only reason to go in this store is to try to get a rise out of the putz that runs it. read more

Jeff is indeed a hoarder. He sells garage-sale quality items at antique prices. When you ask about an item, he has no idea where it's from or how old it is. He just makes up outrageous prices in his head with nary a clue about an item's actual worth or its current street value. He seems surprised if you even ask about an item, interested in perhaps its story or worth, a look of distaste on his face. Frankly, I'd rather spend my money at tini down the street or Rehab on Beverly. read more

Jeff seems like a hoarder. Nothing really caught my eye, but I'm sure the stock changes a lot.

I've shopped with Jeff for several years - at the old place and now at the shop on Fairfax. He has a great inventory, is knowledgeable and very helpful. I keep going back to this shop for design clients and for myself because he really has something for every style and price. The inventory moves fast so theres always something new. When it comes to any shopping experience - I would never trust reviews as oddly aggressive and negative as the few seen here. But it is especially true about this shop. Every time I have been there, he could not be more helpful or informative. I have never had buyers remorse and would recommend it to anyone. read more

I love this place! When you go make sure you have enough time to look at everything. I found a beautiful bar cart and he worked with us on the price. He was very helpful but didn't hover. Great place to find a hidden gem. Thanks Jeff! read more

Jeff - been in the business for eons and his collection shows! He was originally on Melrose and this transfer to Fairfax is chic, with a nice change to the lay out and display. I really love going in for a visit, he's always got those undiscovered treasures, the ones you love to hunt for! I bought the most amazing original pair of Brazilian Rosewood and Suede Percival Lafer chairs last week... anywhere else I would have had to take a second mortgage out on our house.. but Jeff is always so reasonably priced, they're now comfortably in our living room! If you are open to a laugh, a good gag - then he'll make it hard to leave his place, I've come up with some of my best material from Jeff! Always a smile on his face.. as long as your a pleasant enough a person to him. Naturally, he doesn't suffer fools.. and why should he? You can find mid-century furniture, objects, collectable first edition books, great textiles, rugs and hides, painting, mirrors, an eclectic mixture of period and style, clothes and bags, and if he really takes to you.. there's always something special he's hidden behind the desk or out the back! - don't be afraid to ask.. did I mention the 1940's croc clutch? Crazy good, I get stopped every time. Jeff has an amazing collection of antiques, I always make it a point to stop there and make sure I've got some time to really enjoy the hunt and find.. and the humor. read more

JEFF and Jeff are wonderful! Yes, Jeff can be a character, but he has a heart of good deep down! A store chalked full of unique and wonderful things. read more

Walked by and was interested in checking out this store. I'm a fan of vintage and mid century modern and my entire house is filled with rare finds so i was excited to check it out. The guy who worked there was standing in front of the door, and said, "oh you want to come in?" with a Weird arrogant attitude, and then proceeded to tell us, "this is not a thrift store, it's expensive" wait...what??? For real?? Sure we have tattoos and colorful hair but we drop some major cash and I was SO INSULTED. I felt like Selena. Bye. read more

Great mix of well edited things. He's always got something I didn't know I needed. Very easy to shop.

My family and I stopped into Jeff's store while we visited the Los Angeles area. He was extremely welcoming into his store. We walked around the store and talked and he even let my sons pick out some toys for free. We asked for a lunch suggestion and he walked us down a couple stores and gave the cashier his credit card and paid for my families lunch. Seriously one of the nicest people I have ever met and hope to return soon if I go to LA again. Thanks for everything Jeff. read more

I love the selection of antiques and a few vintage piece. Jeff is an absolute doll. Warm, funny and friendly and always has a story to tell. His store, while chock a block, is filled with treasures both high and lower. This is not a junk shop. These pieces are in good condition and many with pedigree. I even ran into an old friend randomly in his shop proving great minds think alike. We have bought a few piece from him and plan to buy many more. read more

I'd suggest you avoid this antiques and vintage/second hand goods place like the plague. I stopped in recently after only recently noticing it. I tried to make friendly introductory small talk with the owner, a middle aged man, asking how long he had been open, and if he accepted consignments. I sell fine art so these seemed like reasonable questions. He barked a one word "NO!!" to the consignment question. I thought him rather abrupt but decided to give him a second chance, so continued right along, commenting in a friendly way, to just get a conversation going, that my sales of art had recently slowed dramatically on my website. He almost **SHOUTED** a shockingly and inexcusably rude sentence: "I REALLY DON'T CARE!!". (There was another gentleman in the shop, a witness to this entire conversation). There was a silence, then, stil startled but recovering from this broadside, taken aback by this utter rudeness, I said quickly, "WELL, I guess my business here is finished", or something very close to that. I stomped out of the cluttered joint and resolved to let the world know about this clown and his 'tude. Maybe the guy's from New York, or maybe he just had a bad day, or business is plain bad and he's not making his rent in this down-at-the-heels Fairfax neighborhood; whatever, there's absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior in the retail world. I eagerly look forward to the failure of this business and the posting of a "For Lease" sign in the window in the near future. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS. read more
