I came here for my mother in law's wedding and I really liked this venue a lot. Very elegant and classy with touch of a historic feeling! Jedediah Hawkins is not just a wedding venue and it's an amazing wedding as well! I would come here all day for lunch or dinner.the staff here is amazing and very attentive to making sure you're taking care of. The food here is too notch and some of the best food I have had in a long time. My in law had some finger food passed around and everything was flavorful & cooked to perfection. No frills or nothing fancy but flank steak skewers, chicken skewers, grilled shrimp, fried arancini rice balls, and truffle arancini balls were 10/10 and out this world. Steak & chicken was so tender and seasoned to perfection. This place is located in St. James and a little out of the way for me but I'm a def do a day trip where I'll hit a winery and have lunch here with the wife. I'm looking forward to seeing what their lunch and dinner menu looks like and definitely looking forward to having a steak here. Overall this place is a beautiful place to have your wedding with a great staff and amazing food. Quick disclaimer that this review is solely about the restaurant portion of Jedidiah Hawkins (and not the Inn). For those that are confused by this, you can totally stay at Jedediah Hawkins, but you're also entirely allowed to just have a fantastical dinner, like my wife and I did for her summer birthday a few months back. Well actually, there's reason we wanted to come here for a while and that was due to Jedediah also being able to host weddings. We looked into JHI as a venue, but in the end we realized it wasn't for us and instead got to check the place out for a special occasion (a la her birthday). The place feels like a little Victorian bed and breakfast when walking around on the grounds and once inside, the seating areas and ambiance emanates an older take to them, like dining in a historic house. It wasn't necessarily special, but lended itself well to the vibe. Wait staff was relatively on point and our waitress (as well as a few other employees) were very friendly. The menu prices were also friendly enough for this slightly pricier spot. Not a huge menu, but enough choices for the two of us to find several tasty meal options. We began with the truffle fingerling fries that had parmesan and chive on them with a side of crème fraiche. They were absolutely delicious. Crispy with a nice, soft potato interior. For the main meals, the wife got the 1/2 roasted chicken with lemon jus, cheddar grits, and broccolini (which was all superb) while I went with the mushroom and black truffle risotto (which was outstanding). Both dishes had flavors that really popped and from presentation to tastes, everything was spot on. Oh, and so was the crusty bread slices and spread given to start (almost forgot about that!). What I also can't forget to mention is a part of Jedediah that might not technically count as the restaurant: the speakeasy. It's nothing elaborate, but right near the entrance to the dining room is a slightly hidden gated off stairway which (if it's not reserved) can be entered in where you'll find a bar and a handful of tables and seats. This spot was something we really wanted to try to check out and luckily no one was using it the night we came. Our waitress even offered for us to have dessert down there (which was awesome) and one of the managers delivered everything down. What did we have as the final portion of our meal? Some beignets with cardamom sugar, ricotta, and strawberry sauce (which were definitely tasty, but didn't live up to Cafe Du Monde in NOLA) and some after dinner drinks of an Irish coffee with Jameson and a blackberry-based cocktail on the main menu that I decided to save for having with dessert. It was a sweet way to end a fantastic trip to Jedediah Hawkins. Overall, Jedediah Hawkins is a wonderful spot to have a meal. It might not necessarily be an everyday dining location as it has a specific old school vibe to it, but then again, if you can afford it, the menu, staff, and space comes together to warrant a trip almost any time as well as an easy five stars for this review. This is by far our favorite place to stay on the island, and it really says something that we have a family seasonal home less than a mile from the Inn and still choose to stay over, and return for a second trip! There's just something so special about it. Staff is wonderful, not one complaint to be made. They're sweet and welcoming but let you have your space and are always up for a chat if you're looking to have one! The Inn itself is gorgeous, old fashioned and a little bit spooky in the best possible way. Rooms are not modern, but if you're looking for that Jedediah Hawkins isn't your jam. It's a gorgeous Victorian style home with amazing character that really helps you step out of the real world and into your vacation, no matter how long your stay! Overnights come with a three course breakfast, which is always delicious-and they're happy to make a really great Blood Mary if you request it at such an ungodly hour like 9am, which I do. We stayed in the Belvedere Suite during our last visit and it's definitely a vibe. The room is so big and beautiful that if you choose to stay there, I'd highly suggest stopping for some snacks and wine and spending a few hours just hanging out upstairs with the gorgeous views. The restaurant doesn't serve a bad meal. The kitchen was running behind the night we chose to dine during our stay but we barely noticed. Staff were very attentive and the food that came out was worth any small wait we had. Truly the best halibut I've ever tasted, and the same could be said for the pork chop. Not one bit dry, and accompanying vegetables were fresh and delicious. My one disappointment with dinner was that they ran out of espresso chocolate mousse, but thankfully I got to taste my husband's the night before. The kind service staff brought us an amazing Basque cheesecake and a nightcap up to the suite to finish our night, and all were wonderful. This review is just a restaurant review; we did not stay at the inn. We had Sunday brunch here after a bachelorette weekend on the north fork and it was a perfect way to end our weekend. The building itself has such a historical feel and the dining area is so quaint. We were there at 11am and were the only people there. Drinks were tasty and food was great! We especially loved the duck wings, the sparkling pear cooler, and the Bloody Mary. I had the BLT and the bread was absolutely delicious but the bacon was underdone for my preference. Fries were 10/10. Service was slow, which is my only complaint. We asked for ketchup and it took someone almost 10 mins to come back with some. The waitress took our drink orders, didn't write anything down, and then only came back with half our order and had to ask us for the other half again. We were in no rush and having a very relaxing morning so slower service wasn't the end of the world, just surprising because we were the only people in the place for a while. The place had filled up by the time we left around 1pm. I would absolutely return! read more

What an utterly gorgeous place! The stately home, the pristinely overgrown grounds (looking especially endearing on a stormy Sunday afternoon-- that wisteria creeping up a long trellised walkway!) and an exquisite interior that will have you never wanting to leave (the speakeasy in the basement is the perfect after-dinner lingering spot). Admittedly, I was so taken with the aesthetics, as I am wont to do, that it was love at first sight. I was here for brunch, and the vegan options are few and underwhelming. That said, I enjoyed my time here immensely. We were a group of 8 and the Bellinis and Bloodys were flowing. You can't have a bad time here! I started out with a Bellini and appreciated that it was more dry than sickeningly sweet. Considering my food options, it looked like there was only one, avocado toast without the salmon. Not exciting, but a solid choice, however the toast was a brioche which the waitress wasn't sure if it contained eggs (I didn't even have her go ask because typically brioche contains eggs). My friend who had made the reservation had asked about vegan options and mentioned this to the waitress who said that they could make me a hash, so I went for it. The veggies were fresh, well-cooked and yes, it was a hash. It needed a ton of salt and hot sauce, as there wasn't much flavor beyond what the vegetables offered (and they were good, don't get me wrong, but a pretty basic plate of pan-fried Brussels, root vegetables and 'shrooms. I also got a side of avocado which made things a little more interesting. I ordered a Bloody Mary, which was pretty flavorless, with tons of horseradish. But yes, four stars. And yes, I would gladly return for cocktails, perhaps food again, too, as nothing was egregiously bad. It's just in this day and age, I expect more from a lovely place like this one. My wife and I were there this weekend and truly enjoyed a fine dining experience in their beautiful outdoor setting. We had the short rib and the half roasted duck both were out of this world and highly recommend them to everyone. We have been to Jedediah Hawkins a number of times before and they never fail to amaze you with their fine food beautifully presented and deliciously tasting. We own Restaurants and it is a joy to go to a place that looks great, with impeccable friendly service, and outstanding food. My sister and my Mom went for an overnight stay for a Mother's Day/ sisters birthday. It was a WOW! We pretty much had the place to ourselves. Sister stayed in the Belvedere suite, she's a lover of luxe! I had the sage room and Mom took the rose room. We all loved our rooms. They were clean, comfy, and beautiful! The staff was great, there for anything we needed but we felt like the place was ours. Beautiful grounds, very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed drinks outside and then had dinner later. I really don't think there is anything else like it on LI. We think we might have to make it an annual stay! Wow! An amazing place to stay, beautiful grounds, outstanding restaurant and incredible staff. Andreas is an incredible person. He was Checking in people, waiting tables, bartender, groundskeeper and literally running the whole inn and restaurant. Also, all the other staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The cider room we stayed in was beautiful and they accommodated my request of no down pillows because I'm allergic. The included breakfast was so delicious and the reservation we made for dinner was so yummy and I cannot wait to go back because the menu had so many entrees I wanted to try. Also, get the rum punch if you're like me and enjoy sweet drinks- they are perfect to sip while relaxing on the grounds. Overall, my husband and I had a great stay and will be returning soon. Love this place, its a picture perfect setting on a quiet country road among local homes, on Long Island's North Fork. It's a restaurant & Inn, in a beautiful historic house with reminders of the original owners in the name, and in photos. There are three seating areas for the restaurant, we sat in the garden room/ porch preferred over the main dining room or downstairs/ with live music. A view overlooking greenery with lots of light is always relaxing. They have a nice mixed menu, of salads, American, and seafood. Nice desserts, and plating. North Fork local wines available. Easter weekend finds me almost as far east as one can go in North America -- the North Fork of Long Island, NY, territory of some 80 wineries and many interesting dining choices. After stopping off at the Sparkling Pointe Winery for an amazing Champagne and Macrons pairing, we were ready to continue the evening with some more substantial fare. A YELP search led us back to a favorite spot, the Jedediah Hawkins Inn in Jamesport. The wonderfully restored Italianate manor, built in 1863 for Captain Hawkins is located on 23 acres of gardens and farmland. It is simultaneously stately and welcoming. The interior reminds one of a well appointed home, with comfortable furnishings, a cozy cocktail "speakeasy" bar, colorful walls and artwork and dining rooms that feel warm and inviting. I started with a Speakeasy Manhattan that came out on the rocks, wonderfully dark and strong with several bourbon-marinated cherries. It was so good I eschewed wine and stayed right in my bourbon groove for the remainder of the meal. The Poached Pear and Greens salad with Gruyere cheese and candied nuts was fresh, crisp and savory -- a perfect blend of flavors. My second course selection was the Duck Breast with Crispy Leg, a mammoth portion that was as tender and succulent as pork belly with a light crisp to the skin and a Burgundy sauce, with a perfect saffron CousCous with Golden Raisins underneath it all that was the perfect sweet/tart complement. It appeared we surprised the staff when we arrived on time for our 6 pm reservation. Maybe there were changing shifts and weren't quite ready for us, but that was quickly remedied. We skipped dessert, considering easter dinner is tomorrow and we would need some room. If you find yourself way out east, this place is worth a detour. Lovely inn. We enjoyed our stay for two nights during the week. The rooms were nice and the grouhds lovely. Eugenia was lovely, always nice, and catered to our needs. Colin, the manager, was rather unfriendly on the rare time we saw him. Unfortunately, one night when we stayed there was no one else staying there, not even an employee. If something had gone wrong, we had phone numbers only. The breakfast was very nice. The Chef was lovely when I asked for a pastry and whipped up tart tatin. very hice. Dinner was just ok. The foie gras was very good and should have been at that price. The halibut was so so....We cannot say enough nice things about Eugenia, who really makes the place warm. read more

We came to celebrate my uncle's 53rd wedding anniversary. The staff was amazing we sat at the bar and then moved to a back lounge and each had a cocktail. I had a Bellini it was delicious. My aunt had a glass of wine she loved it they even let her taste it before she purchased the glass. My husband and my uncle had mixed drinks and they didn't care for them. My husband thought the tonic was flat in his vodka tonic. And my uncle ordered a Cosmo and didn't care for it at all. The guys then ordered beers and they were fine. We were brought back to our table and introduced to our waitress Kelly. She was lovely she made some great suggestions for us and she was on top of us all night making sure everything was OK. I ordered the watermelon feta salad which was delicious and two sushi rolls which were very fresh. My husband had the chicken and thought it was the best piece of chicken he ever had he love the way it was crusted on top. And he also loved everything that came with it polenta and a great sauce. One of the finest meals you can get on the North Fork of wine country. The complete package- service, food, and atmosphere. The mad Russian and I have been meaning to get here for a while now and after a day of exploring, we were able to finally convert our wishes to reality. On a gorgeous day, plenty of sunshine and low humity, we made plans to come and eat outside and enjoy the scenery of this historic and beautiful setting. Once a speak-easy deep in the woods, this hotel/restaurant/resort has upped the bar on the Island for top-of-the-line dinner experiences. We had our sleeping daughter in tow and knew that our night was on a timeline- not of our making. We decided on getting a couple of excellent cocktails, some apps and one entree to split. What we had: Pear Martini Blond Ambition IPA Octopus Appetizer Flatbread Their soup of the day Duck wings And entree of Short Rib All of the food came out well timed and served as desired. Tatiana was our server and made sure we were well attended to. Either clearing a plate or filling a glass, she didn't miss a beat. MR ( mad Russian ) is not a beer drinker, but found she really enjoyed the Blonde Ambition IPA that I had. Not that the beer was the standout, but that's quite an accomplishment for her. VERY DISAPPOINT\ING EXPERIENCE. We had been at this intriguing restaurant several years ago and were impressed by the renovation, intimate setting, beautiful surrounding, variety of menu, perfect cooking and presentation and the competent and elegant service by experienced and attentive waiters/waitresses. NONE of these positive adjectives apply today. We had reserved a table in advance for a special occasion for 4 people and were told that they could give us a nice table in a corner at 6:30pm. We had arrived well in advance to explore the grounds which we found uninviting and neglected in appearance. Upon checking where we would have the reserved table, we found out that we had 2 choice for a table: either on side of a busy walkway or the other side in the same room. None of them were really adequate, and there were no other choices. Before dinner, we opted to take an aperitif outside. We were greeted by three different waitresses/waiters, none of them knowledgeable about the menu nor bar offerings, and overall during the evening, the organization of who is taking orders, who brings the food etc. was chaotic. This incompetence by -probably - high school aged servers without prior experience or training by the restaurant's management shows clearly that this place is highly overrated in that respect. The many 5 star reviews can't be taken seriously here. The food choices are limited. We had the Hamburger and a risotto dish: you could eat this quality at any "family diner" (e.g. the buns looked and tasted like generic supermarket quality, the meat similarly boring; where is the "farm to table" treatment with herbs or special spices which might distinguish this hamburger from typical fast food chain?). The risotto was a large pile of rice (not attractive to look at), but somewhat tasty. Considering the "after pandemic price" structure, so prevailing at many "gourmet restaurants", Jedediah Hawkins plays the same game of hyped Marketing, fancy photos, but little to show for a special going-out experience! read more

When you first pull in, its such a grandiose and elegant display that is rich in Long Island history. My wife & I park by the vineyard. While we're waiting for our table, we step into the parlor and order drinks. I start with an amazing burnt old fashioned bourbon and my wife orders a Bellini. The visual I'm seeing is amazing, the architecture is magnificent. We're seated and are given menus. Wow. We started with the roasted beet salad with goat cheese and the crescent farms duck wings. The wings were cooked perfectly and roasted beets tasted like candy, they were so sweet. My wife and I both had the Australian lamb chops. Such a treat to have such a simple yet, tasty meal. I love lamb anything, this dish was prepared very elegantly, it was a perfect meal for a perfect night. Oh and there is the speakeasy downstairs? Picture walking downstairs in your parents finished basement. It's dark, they have a bar with a buncha beer taps and a big table. Just had dinner here with my family. We pulled into the driveway of this 1800 style B&B and everything looked magical. When we parked on the side of the building, we didnt know whether or not to enter from the side (since there were doors, outdoor heated seating and the home style is slightly confusing) we walked towards the side door and were greeted by a worker. I explained that it was a little confusing and didnt know "how to get in" to which he acted like a smartass and replied "you turn the doorknob" We were brought over to our table and asked what we wanted to drink before we even sat which was a little rushed. I had the potato gnocchi; ive had better. It was literally gnocchi (a little crispy too for some reason) kale and sweet potato; very bland. Will not be returning but im sure its had its better nights and the venue looks amazing for weddings read more

The drinks were delicious as well. I decided to order the roast chicken, very unlike me, but it sounded so good. And I am so glad I did. It was probably the best chicken dish I've had in a restaurant. It was perfectly crispy and flavorful, boneless and a huge portion & the sides were exquisite. My boyfriend ordered the salmon and unfortunately it was a little underwhelming. It was good, but nothing special especially compared to our other dishes. The BEST place to stay in the North Fork. Hands down. Jedediah Hawkins Inn has a special place in my heart, and I consider this the best thing I've ever found solely through Yelp and Google searching. A year ago, I got married at a vineyard in the North Fork. My family and wedding party booked up all of the rooms (6) in the Inn for the weekend, and we had our rehearsal dinner downstairs in the restaurant, Luce & Hawkins. The Manager at the time (Michael) was amazingly hospitable and accommodating, and helped make it a great experience. We returned for the weekend on our 1-year anniversary, to find out there is new management now. I admit I was a little bummed about that, but the new manager seemed nice, and we didn't run into any issues during our stay. Chef Luce is great, and any foodies would be pleased. The dinner was delightful, but the best thing ever was actually the BREAKFAST. All guests staying at the Inn get a special multi-course breakfast every morning that is just heavenly (and I never use that word). My croissant was so fresh that it was not only perfectly crisp and light, but it was also still warm inside....and I believe a good croissant is a good indicator. The other dishes were all seasonal, local, and delicious. I've never been a morning person OR a breakfast person, but I woke up at 9am on a Saturday and Sunday morning for this. And it was SO worth it. Can I start every day like this?!? Ultimate Bed & Breakfast Lodging Jedediah Hawkins is incredible. The house has unbelievable character and appeal. A renovated 1830s Victorian home with a restaurant on the first floor. We stayed in the "Sage" room on the second floor. The room was great, two large windows, a gas fireplace, and a good sized bathroom. The bathroom even had a heated tile floor. The food was very good. I had a Crab Egg Benedict that was out of this world. The NY Strip Steak and Parpadelli Bolognese were both great as well. The dining room was small but quaint. All and all, a great experience. I would highly recommend a stay at Jedediah Hawkins. If you can't book a room, you should at least try to stop in for a dinner and a drink in the "Speakeasy"! read more

This place is incredible. We arrived there at 6pm after sunset and the back drop and some snow in the lawn and it was lighted up like a castle in a fairy tale. Very cozy inside with divided small rooms and fireplaces. Very well decorated. Also displayed many local artist paintings. Food was great!!! I had the set menu with a salad, Filet Mignon, blue velvet cupcakes for dessert and a glass of local LI wine. Worth every penny of $35. My date had the seafood Croquettes and grilled Branzino. Both were delicious! We were able to taste a few of the local LI wines which were excellent! read more
