On the way home from a business trip to Altoona, my companion suggested we stop into Mac's. She had…read morepurchased some outrageously great steaks their previously and we figured we'd get a couple for the grill. Also mentioned in passing was "they have pretty good hoagioand such." Mac's is indeed both a meat shop/deli as well as a pizza/sandwich establishment. As mentioned, the steaks we have purchased there have been superb. Today, I blindly ordered a "wedge"--with no real idea what it was...and it was great. Mac's wedge is basically a big triangular sandwich whose "bread" slices are pizza crusts. It's crazy, it's decadent, and my Italian wedge was delicious. Mac's is a small place with street parking only and a modest exterior. It's not in the heart of Tyrone, more like a residential neighborhood, and absolutely worth a visit. You have to try this spot and it's unique menu.

This lil place on the corner is not just a market, it's Mac' Market. With a vast array of cold salad such as macaroni, pasta, potato, etc to compliment the hoagie, you just can't go wrong. They have indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy your lunch or dinner in a very clean environment or sit on the tables outside to enjoy a cool breeze on Columbia Avenue, just past Garber Street. In Tyrone Pennsylvania. Excellent staff ready to assist you and quick to make your hoagie fresh in a flash. I can assure you will fill that craving and your hunger. Great hoagies, great people, great place. They are definitely 3 for 3 with a 5 star great pick for a great meal.

We were visiting Tyrone on a Sunday afternoon, and very few places were open for takeout, so we…read moregave Firehouse Pizza a try. It's on the outskirts of Tyrone, and almost halfway to Port Matilda, but it was worth the short drive! It's conveniently located just off I-99 and South Eagle Road / Pennsylvania Avenue. We ordered a few pizzas and a stromboli, and everyone was very happy with them. Food was prepared quickly, staff seemed friendly, and it looked like a family-friendly place you can dine out as well. It's decorated with a lot of fire station items and memorabilia from around the country. Pricing for the menu items was very reasonable. If we're back in the area again, we'll try to dine in!

We started with Chicken wings. I've had better but these weren't bad. They were pretty expensive but that was more due to spiraling inflation due to the ineptitude of the Washington bureaucrats currently running things. We also got an extra large pizza, which everyone enjoyed. Not once did we have to call the waiter. He kept our soda refills coming and checked numerous times to see if we needed anything. Service was fast and smooth. Something of an anomaly now a days with many eateries complaining about being short staffed while service crawls. None of that here. All in all a nice night out. I'll be back soon!!
