Stay far away from this company. I have never posted a bad review but I feel the need to warn everyone about this terrible company since our experience has been such a nightmare. We were told our pool would take 6-9 months because of Covid and all of the supply chain issues. We were fine with this even though our last custom home build only took 9 months. We are now in month 15 with no end in site because Jose the owner is so dishonest and incompetent. He lies to us continuously. In fact as I type this out, they were supposedly finishing our pool project today. The amount of work left to do for that to be a reality is ridiculous. This is just another one of the MANY lies we've been told. When Jose finally sends someone to complete a small portion of one project, they show up late afternoon and spend about an hour or two doing one little thing so Jose can claim work is getting done. This is after you wait week after week with nothing getting done and no one showing up when promised. Once they finally complete a portion of a project, the work typically has to be redone because it's been done so poorly. The amount of rework that they have had to do on our project is too much to type out. I don't imagine he will stay in business because he's so dishonest & has no clue how operate his business. 8 week job is now going on 14 weeks. Nobody has touched my pool in 2 weeks. They literally go weeks without doing any work. One of their own guys said they suck, they hate them, and they never provide materials. Then their crew walked off the job after a few hours. They now owe me an interior and a heater. On the rare moment they actually do work, they screw it up. Missing drain couplings, drain slanted the wrong way, big low spots on the deck they are building. Using this white stuff that dissolves when wet instead of hydraulic cement (who uses something not waterproof when making a pool!). je clear pools is currently building my pool in valrico. We caught them yesterday doing very shady build practices. They placed several trash bags full of dirt to build a sunshelf. Which after talking to 4 other pool companies in the Tampa area. No one has ever seen this practice. The form boards look wrong as well. After leaving comments on JE's fb page. They have blocked me and removed all the comments When our builder confronted Jose about it, Jose kept saying it will pass code. JE Clear Pools is now in breach of contract for unfinished work past the contractually allotted time. I'm apparently joining a long list of customers who have complained about the company based on the numerous poor reviews that have popped up on on other consumer advocate sites. At this point, the optics of the situation looks like a pay-upfront and then run situation. I have paid upwards of $65000 with no hopes of completion or timeline in sight. Since November 1st workers have showed up only twice for a total of 8 hours on the project and I sit with a dangerous hole in the backyard that poses a serious hazard for anyone who comes into my backyard. I signed my contract with them on June 24th 2022 with a completion period of 4 to 8 months. The 8th month ended at the end of February 2023 and the the last time any full time work was done on the pool was the end of October 2022. The crew started work on Monday October 17 2022 and dug and framed out the pool that week, and the concrete was poured the following week, then their work stopped . . . from November thru the end of February and I still have no timeline. The pictures below including the damage the crew did to my fence were taken Friday October 21 2022. A four hour cleanup crew came out Friday January 20 2023 only after I complained numerous times about the work stoppage. And a plumber came out Sunday morning February 26th for four hours to dig around the pool but hasn't been back since. A Friday and Sunday appeasement crew do not represent a dedication on the company's part to complete a contract. They are done only to create the appearance of work but do not represent a commitment of good faith to complete the work. The only communication I have from the owner and project manager is the empty promise of "someone will be there this week" which of course never happens and "we are experiencing supply chain issues." By now the supply chain issues of 2020 have largely been resolved and that excuse ran its course a long time ago. The owner consistently gives vague answers only to appease customers and buy time until he an get more contracts in hand. These empty promises and false narratives have become his modus operandi and his business model. This is a very shaky foundation in which to build and operate a company. Any contract and transaction is dependent upon the good faith of each party to fulfill their obligations (customer to pay, vendor to complete and extend good customer service). I'm sorry to say that this is the worst business experience I've had in my life. No customer service, no sense of obligation to meet what they said they would, no qualms about lying to customers about call backs or their ability to fulfill the contract, no work for months, no oversight, no project management, no management of expectations, no follow-up, no communication between workers, owner, project manager, sales, admin. I would NOT recommend that anyone hire JE Clear Pools for their pool refurbishing. Jose cites labor shortages as the reason for the delays, but he has $15,000 of our money, with little to no work to show for it. Communication is abysmal with no follow up when commitments are not met. I am so very worried that I am out this money and have no recourse whatsoever. Unless you love throwing money away, headaches, and frustration, I would go with another contractor. Another month has gone by with continued broken promises. The most frustrating part about working with Jose is that he keeps saying that work will happen tomorrow and then tomorrow and then tomorrow and then no one ever shows up. I contracted Jose and JE Clear Pools on 7/24/2023 to resurface my pool, replace the waterline tiles, install new coping, and furnish and install approximately 850 sq ft of new pavers. I gave Jose a check for $9,500.00 at that time with the understanding that the project would be completed by the end of September. Although I didn't see much progress into September, Jose assured me that he was on track to finish by October 1st. On September 15th there was a crew here that completed the demo, which triggered the second installment of $5,000.00. When Jose came to collect the second installment, I added some porcelain mosaics to the the contract and wrote him a check for $5650.00. The project is now almost 2 months overdue, my pool has been drained for almost three months and is a mosquito breeding ground. To date, the demo has been done, the waterline tiles have been replaced and the coping is done. Jose says that they don't have much left to do, but no on ever shows up when promised to complete the job. There is never any proactive communication from Jose and when I reach out to ask when he will be here, he lies and almost always says, "tomorrow". I have been lied to dozens of times about when there would be people here to complete the job, including twice just this week! At this point, I have no confidence that Jose has any intention of completing this project in any reasonable amount of time. My only recourse is to file complaints with the appropriate state authorities, hire another contractor to complete the work and sue JE Clear Pools for a refund for the portion of work not completed. Pool/spa construction Same story as some of these other reviews here. We signed our contract on 9/15/22. They started the project on 1/7/23. Contract says 5-7 months for completion after start date. It has now been over one year since start date. They have only dug, gunite, most pavers & coping, layered steps inside pool. We still need rest of pavers & coping. We need tiles, steps from pavers as it's a couple feet high, equipment, screen enclosure, robot vacuum, pebble tech, and more. They are not even halfway done. After that 4th payment we made in July 2023 they have not been here at all except once which was this month for one day for a few hours after we wrote a letter suggested from a lawyer. They have also damaged our neighbor's fence, broke 10 or our irrigation pipes, have cement all over our back yard that is growing into our back yard, trash everywhere, big, long trench holes on both sides of our front yard for drainage, nasty green water in bottom of pool causing mosquitos, etc. Every time we call or text ther owner, Jose he either does not answer or responds with the same BS: workers/labor, rain, etc. Excuse after excuse which none are valid. He will say we will be there tomorrow or next week and that just never happens. Oh, and we also received a new timeline that stated completion 7/10/23 and a second one he signed that says completion week of February 29th. I realize this date has not passed yet but it also states by 1/15/24 he will finish tiles and fix pavers and install equipment and that has not been touched. If I could give a zero star, I would! After months of fighting with Jose and his team to show up, our remodel was finally done BUT there is more....It's been a year and a half and we still have issues with our pool and pavers. Our remodel was nothing more than a resurfacing of the pool and putting pavers around it and a new pump and skimmer. We asked specially to make sure there was plenty of drainage around the pool because when it rained our patio would flood and we wanted that fixed (it was important when we were hiring the company and Jose said his team could do it). Nobody will read this if it's long so I'll sum of the issues 1. Took forever to get supplies and get the work started. Excuse after excuse 2. Do not show up when they say they will then when they do its not for long. You have to be relentless in following up 3. I should mention you will have no issue reaching them if u owe money. They will call u non stop until you pay (we were never late but they always made sure to let u know when your payment was due) 4. We have had the leak company out here 5 times (might actually be more) to fix leaks esp around our pool light. They initially installed the wrong light then when they installed the right light they didn't do it correctly which caused numerous leaks. 5. We had to drain and refill our pool I lost count how many times due to the leaks and other issues leaving us with crazy high water bills (Jose could care less btw) 6. Complained numerous times that our pool had no flow. Kept saying he fixed it but too this day we still don't get good flow causing making it very difficult to keep it clean 7. There is so much sand (even a year and a half later) at the bottom of our pool it keeps destroying all of our filters. We have to keep buying new ones and they are not cheap 8. Pavers are uneven so much we can't even open one of our doors. That was supposed to have been fixed never happened 9. Our back patio is still flooding when it rains and now it's worse because when they put pavers in they put them on top of the concrete which elevated the floor. So now the water comes right up to the doors. It's only a matter of time before it floods into the house We have spent alot of money going thru the remodel and it continues to bleed us thx to all the issues and on top of it all, we can't enjoy our pool. We have given up trying to work with Jose. It's like dealing with a ghost. We tried to avoid it but no choice left but to hire an attorney. I hope JE Clear pools gets enough complaints that they either go out of business or lose their operating license so they can't keep doing this to people. signed the contract that stated 3 to 6 month completion time. it took almost 17 months. the pebble finish has not happened. it was never acid washed. we added a salt water system extra and it was never delivered. thankfully, we did not pay ahead for that. the concrete deck has low spots that collect rainwater and then mildew. i was having the pool built for my son that was fighting cancer and made sure Jose was aware of that. the 6 months stretched out to almost 17 before it was swimable but my son never got to see it finished as he died. all he ever saw was a concrete hole in the ground. I am not one to write reviews but this one seems worth it to save others the headaches that I experienced. I entered into a contract to build a pool/spa with JE Clear Pools on 6/25/21. They presented themselves as a small business that avoids the use of contractors (with the exception of screen, and concrete) which was a major selling point for us. We had a very positive design experience working with Jhon Contreras. The initial phases of construction went smoothly from the dig to the concrete. Everything went sideways at that point. We saw significant delays, often for MONTHS at a time with little to no progress. It was only after I got lawyers involved (who remain involved an active in my project) did I see movement. Overall, it took approximately 1.5 years, arbitration attempts, calling the actual license holder, lawyers, and a ton of headaches to get my pool to a swimmable state. The salt system was not installed until December 2022. I wouldn't consider the project finished given the issues that I have that still remain. Notable Issues: 1. Jose is not the person who is licensed to build your pool. A different person named John White holds the license. This was not made apparent to me during the design phase and I only found out after trouble arose. 2. JE Clear Pools used an unlicensed gas contractor to install an outdoor kitchen, firepit, and gas pool heater. Upon review, 8 code violations were identified. All except one were fixed. The remaining issue is the installation of the firepit and outdoor kitchen without venting. This created a significant life/safety hazard for me and my family. I've tried multiple times to get this addressed to no avail. Apparently, the only time that worked for JE Clear Pools was the only time I was not available to oversee the install. If you used JE Clear Pools to install anything gas... Hire a gas company to conduct an inspection. 3. JE installed a panoramic screen enclosure. My screen enclosure is already sagging or bending. JE Clear Pools attempted to remedy the issue but the issue has re-occurred. The pool auto-fill was never installed at all. By my own choice, I did not want JE Clear Pools to finish the outdoor kitchen grill venting. I do not trust them to install this in my home. 4. Bubbler water features were installed incorrectly. The manufacturer identified the resolution but it has not been implemented by JE Clear Pools. 5. A handful of clean-up items were never addressed. IE: Cleaning the deck drain of sand/materials, and fixing cracked spa tile. 6. On several occasions, I offered to and paid for various things to expedite the process. Included in this were all of my kitchen appliances and the granite countertop/installation. We rightfully agreed to take this amount off of what I owed. Recommendations useful for working with JE Clear Pools and pool contractors: 1. Have a lawyer review your contract. Ensure that lien releases are required in the contract. Implement arbitration agreements. If your contractor doesn't reply or comply you're clear to take more aggressive legal routes. 2. Ensure that all large payments are back-loaded. Otherwise, you run the risk of the contractor scrambling to achieve payments and then stopping until they need the money again. Ensure that a significant portion is allocated to the final payment. If the contractor refuses, look elsewhere! 3. Install exterior cameras and monitor construction closely. This way you can validate what your pool company says. 4. Do not use JE Clear Pools for Outdoor Kitchen and Firepit. The same person who performed the illegal gas installation at my house installed the outdoor kitchen. Given my experience, I would not recommend using JE Clear Pools for new pool construction. read more

Please don't use them. We signed a contract on February 9, 2022. Date of completion in the contract for Thanksgiving, November 24, 2022. This is a massive build for $129,900. We had several offers and chose them because they were willing to guarantee, in writing, the pool would be completed within 9 months. They started strong and completed the dig, gunite and plumping by April 15. Since April we have had workers here less than 20 days and that was only to lay pavers and part of the coping. The last time someone was here was October 19, 20 days ago. Near daily calls, emails and texts go unanswered. When you do get Jose on the phone he says someone will come out or that he will email you but it doesn't happen. We have been living with a concrete swamp that breeds mosquitos, surrounded by unused or broken pavers and literal bags of garbage for months. I contacted an attorney today. We signed a contract in January 2022, and we are still waiting for our pool to be completed. We have heard every excuse imaginable, lied to over and over, and even if Jose appears sincere, dont believe it. The only items left for the job to be finished is to fix the leaks on the pump, install the screen, replace the ac unit the man digging the pool hit on the very first day, electrical issue with the pool heater, and fix the chlorinator that isn't working. This in no way accounts for work that we have done ourselves or hired someone else to do that should've been completed by JECP. I would NOT trust nor recommend this company. It has been year of lies and delays. The company does not show up when they say they will. Deadlines are never met. We are extremely upset with the owner and the way he fails to communicate. They did not pay their vendor and that lead to threats of a lean on my property. JE Clear tore apart our yard, destroyed the front and back yard and damaged our fence. They made it dangerous for our children and dog for over a year to be outside. The competitive price is not worth the stress, demeaning treatment, and terrible service they deliver. Do not hire. UPDATE 12/1/2023: 5 mins after posting this review on 9/13/2023 I got a response from Jose with more excuses, but stating he intended to make things right. Without getting into too much detail, he played the same, excuse, delay, and lying game for a couple more weeks and ultimately disappeared again. Summary; He showed up at my house after delays. Made more excuses, but did state he could address a big part of the pool finish problem and even laid out a plan of how he would do it. Couple more weeks of delays, excuses, and empty commitments, then disappeared again. During the discussion at my house even acknowledged the materials his crew used were inferior products and could not provide any proof that he used the materials that he gave me the warranty for. It's been over 2 months since that latest debacle, and the only reason I haven't acted yet, is that I had higher priorities. But as then, I want to get the word out and help others to not waste their money with this company. Now that I have some more free time, I will ramp up the complaints to the proper agencies so that he will be stopped from causing others the same grief. When I posted this review originally on Yelp, I was not able to put on Google as he had taken down the company from Google. (It showed as Permanently Closed). There were numerous negative reviews there as well before he pulled it down. As of today, 12/1, he is back on Google with a lot of the same bad reviews, along with some positive ones. I signed my contract with JE Clear Pools in November 2021. At the beginning, everything went very fast. They pulled the permit in 3 weeks or less and were digging right away. They shot concrete within a month from digging. Basically they do the steps to collect as much payment as possible. Once the easy part of the money, you can forget about getting a response from Jose. It is now May 31st, 2023, and we are nowhere near the completion of the project. My deck is not complete, my equipment has not been installed, my interior of the pool is not complete, my screen cage is not installed, the plumbing is not finished, the electrical is incomplete, my retaining wall is not finished. Jose has already provided me with 3 revised timeline and not once since he has started revising his timeline has he sent anyone over. My Pool has been untouched since November 2022 (6 months). We are not receiving any response when we call, text and in the rare cases we do, we are lied to saying they are on their way. Of course, all of the communication has been documented and we are seeking legal help. The pool contract was for $155K and we made our payments according to our contract. We have a balance of approx $20K, yet we have received proposals from other Pool companies ranging between $80-100K to complete our Pool. I urge anyone to stay away from this company. At this point, we have no hope for our pool to be completed, even though when Jose read's this comments, he will say that our pool will be completed. This company has no shame and has a Ponzi scheme. I used the service to clean my pool. They were supposed to come weekly and did but did absolutely nothing. I was home one day from work and watched them come to the back, pull out their cell phone and chat for 30 minutes and then leave a note saying they just provided my service. When he was placing the note down, he noticed that I saw him from inside the house and ran back out to the truck to get the tools. This explains why my pool turned green. He has not done any work in 4 months. I have more than a year and half dealing with this project. The quality of work is terrible. The grout between the stones on the decking have be be redone. This review is limited to communication only - as after initial contact I was completely ignored. I had a great initial phone call with Jose where a pool plan was discussed, a drawing was emailed to him for review, and a future meeting onsite was planned to prepare an estimate. But after weeks of multiple attempts at calling, emailing, and texting there-after there was no response from JE Clear Pools. I can not in good conscience recommend a company that does not respond or communicate with potential clients. JE clear pools is not a good company to use when building your American dream. We moved in our Brand new home Dec of 21. We decided to complete our home with a pool. We chose this company based on being a small company that completes most of the work themselves and only sub out some of the work. Jhon Contreras was our sales manager and designed a beautiful pool to complement our home. We were told by Jhon the pool would take 3 to 5 months to complete. The project started early April of 22. They moved very fast in the beginning. When we reached the 5 month point in September of 22 the lies began! Jose will tell you lie after lie, excuse after excuse. Next week is his favorite lie. We have every text(lie) from him. It should not take longer to build a pool than a house. I am a army veteran with PTSD and this has been trying on my health. When two of his workers came out in March of 23 to fix the sunken pavers from the hurricane in September 22. His Worker told us he was resigning from je clear pools because of the way Jose was lying and treating his customers. I never leave reviews but I would hate for someone to go through this pain it has caused me and my family. read more

Jose resurfaced our pool and pool deck and did a great job! His workers are real craftsmen and are pleasant to have around. They work really hard and are very efficient. Everything looks great! We are getting our pool switched over to salt and that is taking a while, but that is not on Jose. I just didn't understand the process. The only complaint I have (and it is minor) is that Jose said he would be here every day to check on the progress and he actually never showed up, except to pick up checks. If you are looking for quality, look no further. As a retired engineer, I watched my pool being built every step of the way. The attention to detail is impressive. I watched the folks installing the deck cut pieces of stone to fit together perfectly. I did notice one piece that was not perfect and before I could say anything the installer spotted it and fixed it himself. Although the job is taking longer than I hoped ( the only negative, especially when you are old like me), I was expecting and I am getting a first class job. read more

I have been very happy with JE Clear Pools. They come out once a week to take care of my pool. I appreciate that they leave some sort of note letting me know they are there! My pool levels are pretty much in line (check it myself every few weeks) so I know Jose is checking as well. My pool is always crystal blue, clean, and looking great! read more
