That said, the food quality was very, VERY good! If you're okay with rustic and peculiar - solely a reference to the decor and ambiance of this place, you WILL NOT be disappointed! It's simple, "down home cookin'" and friendly service at its finest. The salads were plentiful and fresh. The chicken fried steak was the perfect size and was cooked perfectly! The white cream gravy was tasty enough to drink and the (homemade) mashed potatoes were delicious! We were a party of four and everyone in our party echoed the above sentiments! We were all so full that we sadly skipped dessert. Although, I did ask about the peach cobbler and was told it was not homemade. Restrooms were clean and stocked. Eat well. Be well. Cheers!

The fun, eclectic decor is still there, although the ceiling train no longer runs, but unfortunately the restaurant has really slipped. When we walked in, there were a few other diners in the restaurant, and the staff had evidently gotten behind on clearing tables. We were seated at a table, and the hostess took our drink order. We looked at the menu (which no longer includes prime rib or BBQ) and the waitress took our orders for steaks and salads. We sat for a good 15 minutes, and then the waitress came out with our steaks. We had to ask for our salads because she had totally forgotten them! The steaks were just ok. They were covered with W Sauce, which we would not have chosen if we'd been asked beforehand. The sides were Ok, especially the broccoli and cheese, but nothing special. The waitress did ask if we wanted dessert but we declined. Sadly, unless there's a major change, we probably won't go back. The restaurant needs to get back on its game, and quickly.

Later had chills but thank God I scheduled my order pickup last night for 1pm today. It has been awhile since I have ordered from their full menu on the first Sunday of the month . Thankfully the owner was working at the window . He. asked me to check my order , when I opened my to go container I ordered dressing and mashed potatoes . I meant to have ordered some collard greens . Food was still warm upon my arrival back to my house. . I enjoy their 1st Sunday soul food menu. Baked dark skin chicken dressing, mash potatoes with gravy and a soft roll. It's home cooking at its best . The husband is from Louisiana like myself. Great food especially their collard greens.

You can be produce, including herbs, all sorts of drinks, dips, meats, cheeses, frozen meals, etc. i tried a fresh BAT with their house made ciabatta and it was so yummy. The jalapeno pimento cheese dip was so good. I cant wait to go back and try more items! Today they were sampling a champagne and aged gouda which were both delish and if you spent over $50 you got a free block of cheese. This is a true gem in the heart of oak cliff and i will be back for groceries and gifts. I cant wait until i have more room in my fridge/freezer to try some of the meals and pastas. Well, this technically had the savory part covered, but it still involved deep-frying and sweetness since it's brisket stuffed inside a deep-fried Twinkie. Seriously, who comes up with this stuff? I'm guessing someone was eating brisket and accidentally dropped some crumbs into the Twinkie they were using to wash it all down. And just like that, a fair food was born! Not gonna lie, though, it wasn't bad! The jalapeños on top added a nice kick that helped balance out the sweetness. Is it something I'd normally eat? Probably not. But that's the beauty of the State Fair. Where else are you going to find something like this?
