The lady proceeds to tell my son horrible things about a mission and horrible things about a religion that he loves and that has brought him out of so many depressing times in his life. He has been so exited to serve others and so exited that he made this choice. All to be shot down by some random lady he just met. I don't understand why people can't just live and let live, show kindness to each other. we will never go to Jude's ever again. And will spread the word all over social media. Every time we asked them to do something else, he walked out with the same high and tight military cut as the last time. And he would scream and fuss and be miserable. Every. Single. Time. We decided to try taking him with his daddy to Classic Gentleman. I came with in case he needed wrangling while dad was getting his cut, but it wasn't necessary at all. The shop owner, Vern, immediately put him at ease by plying him with candies. Now every time we go, my son sees the booster seat getting put on the chair and RUNS over saying, "it's my turn!" I worried that I would feel weird hanging or in and old school barbershop (aka dude country) but both Vern and Patrick are totally chill. They also always remember you. We love this place!

The booking process online was very easy, and I was thrilled to see so many available slots on short notice. His appointment was with Elliott, and we arrived a few minutes early. My son was immediately taken back and, although I could not hear the conversation, it looked like they were discussing what he wanted done with his hair. My work was done-I got him here, now I get to sit back and wait. While I waited, I observed the shop. On the two main walls, you see giant, beautiful graffiti art. The colors are vibrant and it is really well done. This sets the vibe of the place-slightly edgy with a bit of an attitude. I counted five barbers, all with clients in their chairs. During our 30-40 minute visit, I saw 3-4 other guys walk in, all with appointments. I don't know if they accept walk-ins. There is a feel to this place that makes it more of a hang out than a mundane stop on your chore list. The people care about their clients-I saw so many fist bumps and half-bodied hugs I lost count. The music is upbeat and also a bit edgy. (If you shy away from colorful language, this might not be your place.) I also noticed that most everyone had a beard-staff (minus the female, of course) and clients alike. Lots of care was taken to make sure these dudes had amazing facial hair treatments. It almost made me jealous that I can't grow a magnificent beard like them. Almost. When we left, my son walked out of the shop looking more confident than when we walked in. He kept looking at himself in the mirror, obviously proud of his new look. From a mother's perspective, that makes me happier than most things. We'll be back.
