Sometimes, we would be given advice on how to do things better from a professional point of view, which was very nice to hear as we do not understand some details. Overall, we are ecstatic about our renovated space and how fast the work was done! All the contractors sourced by J&D are also amazing and knowledgeable people, that are a pleasure to work with. If you need a project done fast and well, go with J&D contracting! You won't regret a thing! We will be using them for all of the upcoming projects for sure!

The handyman that I had been using I trusted because he helped my dad, so when he said he needed new pumps or everything was working great, I paid and just assumed it was done correctly. Last summer when it wasn't working correctly, he just never responded at all. I called Case Construction and Roofing to see if they had someone to shut it off in the Fall and they did. I called them to come get it running this year. There were 2 giant holes that just made the water run right out and never even get the pads wet. He asked if I have had a larger water bill and I have, like a LOT more the last couple of summers and I just assumed it was the sprinklers. They told me that my "handyman" put duct tape over the hole. He also said that one of the pumps wasn't even hooked up, the other one didn't work and the last one was dying. They also told me I needed new nets as they hadn't been replaced like I had thought. There was also a hornet's nest that had been in there and the water line had so much calcium in it that it was barely getting any water through. I bought 3 new pumps and the nets. He fixed it beautifully! Every pump is hooked up and running, the water line is working, the holes are fixed and the hornets nest is gone. My house is COLD again and I'm in tears of gratitude that Case Construction and Roofing is honest and fixed this for me. I received a few estimates and Coury's was right in the mix. What sold me was his taking the time to walk me through the process explaining everything from the tear off, plywood replacement, water/ice barrier, shingles and cleanup. I asked about his crew, I know some roofers use day laborers, he assured me that his crew had been together for years. Plus, he promised to work directly with our insurance company, so I didn't have that hassle. He told me it would take two days. I didn't believe him as there were two layers to tear off plus replacing the plywood sections. As soon as I signed our contract, which spelled everything out in detail, he got the ball rolling. Shingles and dumpster were delivered the next day and they started the day after. Caution! They show up early. They started working at 6:45 am and worked until 7:45. Were there at 6:45 again the next day. They finished by 4:30. Cleanup was awesome, In fact, they raked the yard so that it looked better than before they arrived. They went around the house twice with a rolling magnetic pick-up tool to get any nails from the tear off. It's been a few months now and we've never found one stray nail. The crew worked together like a team that's been together for a long time. Coury and his team restored my faith in honest contractors that do what they promised, on time and on budget. I hope I'll never need a new roof, but if I do, Coury will be my only call. Plus, the fact that he's an easy guy to deal with is an added bonus.

***DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY*…read more Initial Complaint Date: 10/09/2025 Type: Service or Repair Issues Status: UnansweredMore info On July 10, 2025 we paid in advance the full amount of $6,817.86 per contract to Remodel Express to have a portion of our hickory wood floor replaced in our kitchen due to flooding. This also included having our kitchen, dining room, living room, front entry way, and hallway sanded, re-stained and polyurethaned to all match. Remodel Express hired a subcontractor, ******, who had two installers come and do our floors. It was expressly discussed with ****** and ******** that we had custom floors and our number 1 concern was to keep the character of the floors and avoid sanding too much off making the floor look like a gymnasium floor. ****** inspected and said that they would just sand down about 1/16th of an inch, just enough to remove the old finish but keep the hand scraped appearance around the edges. His guys came and promptly sanded our floors past the 1/16" th which the guy stated that he sanded them way down because our floor was not level, but it was flat and level now! He did not ask in advance I explained that we had agreed to only sand 1/16th of an inch but that he went too far and sanded out all the hand scraped edges and character of the boards leaving a tightly fitted floor which we did not want. He then told us that he could fix it with a special rotary tool (skill saw) but would have to bring it the following day. He stained the floor and then used his "rotary tool" and ran random, sloppy wide 1/4" gaps randomly all over our floor leaving crooked, splintered, burned and separated areas that looked horrible. He did not even transition the doorways and instead just rubbed stain across without even blending. He commented that his nephew was drunk on the last day and did not show up to help and he was in a hurry for another job and left without notifying us. We complained and the companies both came out and agreed that our floor was poorly done and they would collaborate and get back to us. It has been 4 weeks and they have not returned my calls or texts.

BlackDog came highly recommended to us. After looking at our 11'x11' kitchen, they were amicable…read moreand persuasive about the quality of their work and how long it would take them, especially given the pandemic. We hired them to remodel our small kitchen and replace the living room carpet with wood flooring to match our existing wood floor. They gave us their 5-week schedule for our project up front. The actual time they took was 5.5 months. Communication throughout the project, between their project manager and everyone (workers and client) was very poor and at times abusive. The flooring subcontractor appeared on site unscheduled and without preparing us. We were advised people and pets had to vacate the premises immediately for at least four days. To add insult to injury, after jumping thru hoops to find somewhere to stay, upon our return, the new floor did not even match the old and would have to be redone, forcing us to vacate yet again. The subs who installed the appliances had never installed appliances before. We were told that once water to the kitchen was turned back on, we could start using the dishwasher. After we ran the dishwasher, we uncovered massive water damage. Blackdog discovered they had connected only one of two dishwasher hoses. The dishwasher had drained water directly onto the kitchen floor, which was covered with blankets and cardboard at the time. Rough plumbing was scheduled the first week when the walls were bare, but not done until the BlackDog project manager realized the new sink couldn't drain. They had to cut through three of our brand-new cabinets to access and reconfigure pipes. In the process of moving the new appliances and island around the house, BlackDog damaged the cabinetry and island and the granite top for the island came unglued. Twice, the electrical wiring that fed power to the island was pulled up through a hole in the floor that was cut in the middle of the walkway instead of underneath the island. Twice, it had to be rectified. Although our interaction with the company's owner began pleasantly enough, when the project was almost complete and it came down to money, things got ugly, causing huge amounts of stress for our entire family. It took weeks to resolve and finally get the job completed. All in all, it was a terrible experience for us. On the bright side, there are a few good people who work for or with BlackDog who knew what they were doing and who spared us a worse experience. They know who they are.

At the end of the project, the most important question is, would I work with this person again? The answer is a resounding yes. I'm already planning more projects with Alex for the spring. Alex and his crew have done outstanding work at reasonable prices, while being very receptive to my feedback and high expectations. Korey's bid was not the cheapest we got. However, he was the only person that demonstrated a well-thought through vision for our basement, not just a view of patching up walls and putting down carpets but a sophisticated and detailed vision, which we liked and appreciated. From the first time he came over for a bid, he set our expectation to a reasonable time range. However, throughout the construction period, he would take the initiative to move up the scheduling whenever possible, even if that means he had to call to schedule and then reschedule. This has cut down a significant amount of construction time we prepared ourselves for, which makes us happy. Throughout the construction period, he is very responsive to our questions and comments. He is also very knowledgeable of different considerations we were facing, ex. how to design the ceiling of the theater room we wanted so the odd air duct could be hidden as if it was part of the design. He is very detail-oriented and itemizes preparatory things as well as billing meticulously. This helps us have a clear mind set and timeline on what we could expect from them and what we were expected as well. The same applies to billing and payment as well. We have had a great time working with Korey, people associated with SALT/him, and people who came to help us finish our basement. We would recommend him and SALT to anyone without any hesitation.
