With the amount of investment that you are making for these type of projects, there's no way you want to go for the lowest bidder because those folks are most likely unlicensed and uninsured, and worse, cut corners with your work. I know few people that got screwed by their contractor because they didn't finish their job or did such poor job that they had to hire another contractor, basically coughing up double the amount as originally planned. Don't let that happen to you! Enter Thomas aka "T" of Artisan Light & Landscape. Now, let me tell you that I did tremendous amount of research before I chose him. I'm crazy. I research the hell out of everything! After I researched about 30+ "reputable" contractors/lanscaping companies via Google, Yelp, CSLB, guys knocking on my door, left business cards and brochures at my door, and a neighbor referral to top it off, I narrowed my choices down to 5 and interviewed them in person. I'll tell you what. T was BY FAR not only the most knowledgeable, but he was super responsive and worked with me in designing a customized front yard that was a bit different than a lot of these "cookie cutter" designs that a lot of these contractors draw up, using the same materials from their previous jobs so they save money! We wanted our yard to look a bit different and small details meant a lot for us. T is very patient and super service-oriented, really focused to making sure that we were happy with everything at the end of the day. This type of service and care is absolutely rare in this industry. He also is a plant expert and will even provide you with a list of all the plants that will thrive in this climate. He also even offered to pickup our Plumeria tree from a nursery that was an hour away, so that we didn't have to. We wanted our design to be a little bit different and we accomplished that with T. Without any hesitation, I would recommend T for all of your landscaping needs. Oh, and he's also very reasonable with his pricing for the quality of work that he and his team delivers. He will not be the cheapest or the most expensive as some contractors are also out there to rip you off. After he is done with the project, during the last meeting, he will also provide you with all the instructions and suggestions to keep in mind to keep your yard in top shape! He even gave us a pruning lesson and even went out of his way to prune our out-of-control olive tree in the backyard for us. There are so much more stuff here and there that T delivered to make this experience an absolutely spectacular one, but this review is already getting too long and I'm getting tired of typing via phone, so just call him already! T is the man! T is also super detail-oriented, honest, hardworking, reliable, and just genuinely good guy. He and his team are the best! T - thanks for everything. You sure have gained a lifelong customer out of us. Before & After pics are attached.

I read 1 today, which is more recent than some of the ones Yelp is displaying. I viewed Yelp's video trying to explain the way they decide what to post, then read the posts and the only thing that makes any sense to me, is some of the reviewers are not ongoing Yelper's. Does this mean Yelp discredits their comments? Thought you needed to know this. MY REVIEW: I was in need of a Landscaper in the Riverside county area for a property I was working on. I found this vendor (Artisan Light & Landscape) while buying irrigation supplies. I asked the men at the counter if they could recommend some local irrigation companies in the area. This business was on the list they gave me. Tom, the owner and primary service provider is an honest and appointment keeping man. If for any reason, he cannot meet your desired deadline for a service he will tell you outright. His prices are fair too. I had requested and received quotes for a side yard from three equally reputable companies and he was the most concise and forthcoming with his quote. He took notes, went home, worked up a quote and E-mailed it to me. If you have a budget, he will be honest with you and tell you what will work best with your budget. Before hiring him, he gave me an address to view of a property he was working on. The place looked awesome during the day but at night it looked fabulous! The home had landscaping, hardscaping and beautiful lighting surrounding the property. It seems he enjoys the lighting aspect of his job tremendously, and it shows! Using plants I purchased, Tom designed and planted a side yard with a lovely durable border, mulch and a drip watering system. No more sprinklers watering block walls and other hard surfaces! Tom also replaced sprinkler system valves, repaired other sprinkler valves, replaced sprinkler heads, installed Railroad ties to be used as steps, advised us about trees and plants for our next project. This supplier knows his business. He possesses a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture from Cal Poly Pomona. He can advise you about plants, trees, etc. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable! I highly recommend this service provider. 5 stars all the way! www.artisanlite.com www.artisanscapes.com UPDATE: On 4/3/2013, Tom trimmed 6 trees and 11 Queen Palms on one of our properties. He also removed a Decorative Plum tree for us. The Plum tree was too close to one of the Queen Palms, making a mess on the neighbors lawn. STILL 5 STARS! UPDATE: Today 5/2/2013, I hired Tom back to check an irrigation line at a property we own. The grass was very soggy, we believed there was a leak. Wasting water is a big NO, NO. Tom came out, he dug up the grass and confirmed there was a cracked line. The line was repaired within about 20-25 minutes. This included pulling parts, trimming PVC pipe to size and fastening everything back as needed. I attached more pictures. STILL 5 STARS! UPDATE: Wednesday 8/28/2013, Hired this service provider again. He replaced some old damaged, ineffective sprinkler system parts. Arrived as scheduled and performed service as requested. STILL 5 STARS!

Chalino was timely, experienced and reasonably priced for our small patio area. He came out the first week of May, June and July of 2023 - fast response when contacted. Didn't need him to come out again until start of October (last trim and clean before Winter). Reached out, normally received a reply back by evening (same day). No reply. Waited a couple days, politely reached out again "Good afternoon, would like to schedule a time convenient for you to come out, anytime in the afternoon, flexible. Thank you, have a good evening". Chalino finally replied TWO days later saying that he apologized but was out of town and would contact me to schedule as soon as he got back. Umm, waited... Nothing. Cool, not happy but let it go. Had someone else come out instead to take care of what needed to be done. Start of December, noticed some rogue sprouts that needed trimming. Decided to give Chalino Quintana Landscape Design one last opportunity to come through for us. No response. No reply. NOthing. Ghosted. Never to be heard from again. Similar experience to other downgraded review updates here. So take heed. Not reliable. Comes out strong, great first impression, great work... ONLY to drop you withOUT notice. My neighbors are now using Zion which speaks for itself, they are an A+ company. Now I look at the other houses in the neighborhood and can see the stark difference in poor quality and Zion quality. They got the entire project done in the promised time, which is all the more impressive considering we recently got a random two weeks of rain, which put a completely halt to hardscaping. Zion not only provided the best price, but also were excellent to work with. First and foremost, they avoid giving you their phone number and push you to email -- which is fine at first but not a good experience with multi-day delays just to setup a consultation appointment. It took about 3 weeks to actually have someone visit the home and talk about the project. That in-person visit went great and I was excited to start working with them and hire them for the job. Unfortunately, it took about a week to receive the estimate, and after asking a few basic questions about the quote they stopped responding and wouldn't take my phone call. They finally responded on email mentioning they had just committed to other projects and won't be able to take mine on. I understand that competing priorities come up but I wanted to share my experience here that this company doesn't seem to value individual homeowner projects and their communication is the worst I've dealt with after speaking with numerous contractors. Considering the low # of reviews on yelp, that seems to suggest they rarely take on homeowner projects. For me, It was a big waste of time going through the consultation and estimate process with them.

Their responsiveness was abominable and they were very busy, but, hey -- COVID. I can forgive. But then deduct one star for the fact that almost nothing their designer chose was available (and many were invasive in California -- she's in North Carolina). She also didn't listen to my feedback and then tried to charge me for another round. Deduct another star for not finishing everything I wanted to do, because some things I had to special order and were delayed. They had to move on to other jobs. Fine. Let's do it as a phase two. I emailed them in April. They couldn't even come out to talk about it until May. Fine. Then came several months of me following up. They didn't come back until July -- and could only spend two hours doing a quarter of the work. I kept following up, they kept saying they were busy on "bigger" (more important) projects and would promise a date. It would come and go. We had them doing our landscaping, too, until one time we saw the guy on our security camera just walking around with a blower for less than five minutes. I canceled; deduct another star because they didn't even care to ask why. I sent a follow up (it was OCTOBER) saying I don't know what to do or think about the rest of the work they're supposed to be doing. No response. Not a surprise, but a huge disappointment. The guys themselves are great. But unless you're building a pool, they won't be interested in your business. And they won't have the guts to tell you. Now here we are, two years later, deduct another star because I've had to repair all of the irrigation they said they'd fixed, and replace all of the bubblers they'd installed, and the stone on the retaining wall they faced is falling off in multiple places. And they won't return our phone calls.
