But before I get to the food, for those who prefer the eastern methods of healing to our bog-standard western approaches there is a great selection of tonics, and general 'wellbeing' herbs and tonic type things (it's all very precise with me!) And now the food! Well, in a nutshell... to much to comprehend! I never thought I would see so much foriegn writing in one dose in my life, make sure you know what you are after, and check before you but (even though there are guidlines it might not be quite what you were hoping for)

It's not just restricted to Chinese produce either, this is a whole pan-Asian experience. The other glorious thing is that it's all so damn cheap. Even if you're not exclusively seeking oriental ingredients, you can pick up useful basics at a respectable price indeed. It's a little way out of the city and not particularly close to any train station (regrettably), however it does neighbour the Eastville retail lot containing an enormous and very, very cheap Tesco. So if you're after good value eats, make sure you head way out East.

It's not just chinese food & ingredients you can find here, there's also indonesian, filipino, thai, japanse, korean etc that you can get here. Where else can I get frozen siu mai in Southampton? It was in this shop that I first introduced the husband to ramen noodles in a packet (super cheap in Canada where I'm originally from) and he's now hooked .. so yay to oriental food shop in a hidden corner of an industrial estate! We picked up the noodles, several packages of dried rice noodles, some pork marinade (dried and paste), siu mai, a good quality wok and other delightful things. What impressed me that they are also a wholesalers. So if I felt like getting a 5kg vat of peaches, takeaway containers and a massive amount of peanuts this is the place to come. I thought that it meant it was hot and spicy, and I was thinking how good that sounded, something spicy. So I went to order. I ordered the foot long and she told me they didn't have any ready, but it looked like there were some on the grill, so I said I would take a regular. Well she pulls off one of the long sausages. The regular is pretty darn large, so large I thought it was the foot long so I was happy. I got it with grilled onions and cheese. I took my first bite and realized, it is not spicy, it is just nice and hot, right off the grill! Whoops! My mistake, should have known! Even though the sausage wasn't spicy, it was as advertised, nice and hot. The sausage was very good and was loaded with onions and a slice of cheese on a tasty bun. For the large amount of people in the shop we were served quite quickly and bought one of their jumbo sausage rolls with a steak and ale Cornish pasty. The sausage roll was pretty standard, but well seasoned and tasted nice. The steak and ale pie was mediocre in my opinion and lacked anything really special, I would have liked their to be more seasoning personally. I have to say i was expecting something better from an award winning bakehouse and the pasties weren't cheap either. On the plus side they did have a large selection of different Cornish Pasties to choose from and the food was piping hot, something you don't always get from other well know take away bakeries. Not one I'll be returning to but if you're a big pasty lover it's probably worth giving it a try.

Which is why when I heard that Cardiff is getting a new restaurant that hosts street food vendors in a permanent location, I was ecstatic. ~ Atmosphere: Tucked in the Old Brewery Quarter (downstairs), it's hard to spot initially. They have outdoor and indoor seating, with decor that is street themed so you really experience a bit of a casual and gritty ambience. ~ Customer Service: Obviously the customer service would depend on which vendor you go to, but it works similar to a food court. You turn up to the main dining area, find a seat, and then head over to the vendor of your choice. ~ Food: Delicious! Once again, this will depend on your vendor, but I like that the selection of different vendors makes this a perfect place to take a group. Everyone has the freedom to go to their favourites and there's bound to be something to be enjoyed by anybody. The legendary Mr. Croquewich is on-site and all the bits that I've tried from the different vendors were all delicious and amazing. --- I'd highly recommend Sticky Fingers to anybody visiting Cardiff when there isn't a big street food festival going on. The street food vendors in Cardiff are fantastic and it's amazing to see them as permanent fixtures here in this city!
