Rosa Morelli, the proprietor of Rosa's Italian Restaurant just happens to also be Our friends Mother-in-law so we all knew that we were in store for something special. Needless to say, the food was great. We started off with some fantastic and delicious appetizers, including a variety of homemade potato pizza (really good), prosciutto and mozzeralla, bruschetta, eggplant caponata, plus fruit and a variety of other tasty treats. The entrees (all served family style) including pappardelle with sausage in cream sauce, chicken francese, grilled shrimp over bracolli rabe and fusilli with vodka sauce. Amazing meal and Rosa and family could not have been nicer. Rosa's is a BYOB and there is street parking only. It is located less than a mile away from the Willowbrook Mall. By request, there was not too much meat served tonight because of the religious holiday (ash Wednesday). We ended the meal with some Italian pastries, a celebratory cake commemorating the occasion and tartufo. A great evening with long time friends and good food. Interesting note about Rosa's Italian Restaurant and Caterer. This restaurant is not generally open to the public. It is not a walk in restaurant. If you would like to come to Rosa's you have to pre-schedule your dinner in advance with at least 8 or more people (up to 40 according to Rosa) and Rosa will accommodate you. You can discuss selected entrees if you like but generally the meal will consist of the dishes that Rosa is making that day. That meal will consist of a large variety of great dishes prepared for your group and served family style. This is a very cool dining experience in a old school Italian neighborhood restaurant. Nothing fancy but very clean and comfortable. Like eating at your Italian grandmothers house. You can contact Rosa at (973) 785-9177. Bon appetito!!! 02/26/2020

But what made me finally…read morewrite a review was after we had the fish and mixed vegetables catered for a luncheon event yesterday. First it should be said that it was a real pleasure to interact with everyone there. From father to son to various other folks that help there. Anyway - about yesterday - we got two large pans of the fried fish and a large pan of the mixed vegetables. I was the organizer for the luncheon and so didn't get to eat. The fish as usual was just fantastic (their fried fish is "A--mazing" as my friend put it). But the mixed veggies didn't get eaten (the luncheon was Jamaican themed and we had two other Jamaican vegetables there as well). So I brought the veggies home with me. Because I didn't eat all day I was pretty famished when I get home. I don't know if it's the Danish or Italian in me or just maybe because my father was this way - but when I'm hungry I just eat stuff without warming it (all kinds of stuff). So I dipped a fork into the, now cold, veggies and O M G - the veggies were just amazing. So I heaped a plate full of cold veggies and scarfed it down. It was so good that I had to call LaNeves to let them know. I also scarfed down about 4 pieces of fried fish (cold also). It was so good. You can just imagine how delicious it is when all fresh and warm, especially if it that good cold. So I'm going on about the veggies - but the fried fish is even better - you just have to try it. Sooooooooo good. I recommend this place for your events (both dining in and catering). The food is outstanding and the service is fantastic. Oh, and by-the-way, all the food was ready on schedule.
