What good is curbside pickup if you're forced to go into the store? I sucked up my entire lunch break trying to pick up two items because their preferred method (app or email) wasn't working. A call to the store transferred me to a guy at the pickup counter, who absolutely refused to look up my order and required me to come in. Store was pretty dead and the downstairs level registers were closed. Had to stand in a line at one register to check out. That said, at least there was *some* air conditioning in there and the escalators were working, which I cannot say for their competitors, or even the main mall itself. No one wants to go to a mall in July and sweat. read more

This happened a couple months ago but it still really frustrates me! My friend was trying on shorts in the women's fitting room at the JCPenney at the Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester,CT. As she pulls up the shorts from her feet to her waist I heard a scream! I ran into the fitting room and asked what's wrong and all I see is a huge line of blood. She showed me the security tag.. not one but TWO! One was correctly placed (I've worked in retail for 6+ years) and the other had just the point (no piece of plastic covering the needle portion of the tag). This is what cut her. I ran to the nearest sales associate panicking because of what happened and this woman had no care in the world. I showed her the security tag and she said "oh that sucks." She said she would ask her manager if there was a first aid kit and would come right back to me. We waited 15 minutes and blood was still pouring down her leg because of a sales associates careless mistake! I went to find the same woman I talked to and she still had no care in the world and said her manager is getting the kit... in the basement.. "far away" she says. It has no been twenty minutes meanwhile my friend is STILL bleeding in their fitting room. I asked another sales associate in footwear for a napkin or tissue anything to wipe up the blood and she handed me one. We wiped the blood off, bought her shorts and left. There was still no manager in sight with a first aids kit. This is such a safety hazard and should honestly be a learning experience for the staff there. I love JCP but wow how unprofessional and how inconsiderate they are to their customers! Literally BLEEDING in their fitting room. Just horrendous. read more

Went to the JCP Salon for my appointment today. On the phone I informed the stylist that I was looking to get a haircut. At arrival, I checked in with the stylist (male (names Perry?), blonde hair). He brought me to his chair in a very unfriendly manner and asked me to take my hair down. When I took my hair down, he immediately reacted with "oh wow.." in a mono tone. He then asked what I was looking to get. I showed him a picture and explained that I have an undercut that is growing out so I wanted to leave that but her a v shape cut with layers. He agreed and said he needed to wash my hair. After washing my hair, we sat back at the salon chair where he jerked my head in a very aggressive way. He expressed that my hair wasn't doing well in which I responded, I would like to keep my length as much as possible but he can do what's best. Then he expressed that my hair would get a lot cut out if I wanted a v shape in which I responded that I understand the sides would be cut. He then expressed that my hair would be extremely short and I questioned what he meant. He explained that in order to get the v shape, he would have to cut the sides short to make it even and I agreed and said that's fine, I just don't want bangs. He agreed then after parting my hair, he stopped and said "I'm sorry I don't feel comfortable cutting your long hair". I said "ok". Then he said "at least you got your hair washed" in a sarcastic tone with an added apology. read more

Oh for the J C Penneys of my youth. It used to be one of the upper-mid scale chains, what Kohls is now. Quality of goods is OK, and considering they have one of their largest distribution centers down the road...you'd think prices would be a bit better. But alas, they sit as an anchor store of a retail mall, so bargains can be hard to find. Price inflation runs rampant, so that when things are on sale they are actually reflecting a normal MSRP. I was desperate to find an infant boys suit recently, and the best price I could find was $30. This was their "clearance" price. I eventually bought one at Macy's for $20, of the same quality and style as I saw here. read more

I booked a family photo session last month as a Christmas gift for my mom who was visiting for the Holidays. Booking online was very easy and quick and we appreciated the confirmation email and phone call. The studio was busy when we arrived for our appointment on the 23rd but the staff was friendly and quick to check us in. We were kept informed about our turn and when they would be starting our session. Megan, our photographer, was professional, friendly and was able to move the session along quickly without making any of us feel rushed. She paid attention to detail and you could tell she was confident in what she was doing. When it was time to view our photos, the young woman who assisted us was patient, allowing us to view our images several times and never made us feel we were taking too long. She was also very knowledgable in the current packages and coupons, and was able to recommend a package that gave us more than we were expecting for less than we thought we'd pay. When we picked up our finished pictures about a week and a half later, the order was exactly as expected and the quality of the prints and the two framed canvases was great! The young woman who went over the order at time of pickup was also very friendly. The entire experience was excellent...I have and will continue to recommend this Portrait Studio to others and look forward to booking with them again! read more

I had dyed my hair with box dye and turned it orange, I called Jcpenney salon to fix it. I was so happy with the results and have been back 3 times since! Chelsea is amazing and she knows what she's doing!!! I recommend Jcpenney Manchester, CT salon!!! read more

I've always gone to the J C Penney salon before but after this incident I will not be returning. I went to the salon two weeks ago to get a regular wash with a trim. Upon walking in, the woman working the front desk didn't ask me what I was getting. She immediately said how there are no Afro-American people in the salon to do my hair and I would have to come back at 3:30 mind you it's 11 am and I had things I needed to do. Now I know there are people specialized in different outlooks when it comes to hair but this is just a wash and trim. So I told the woman what I wanted after she STILL did not ask. She then said oh I might have someone to do it. She brought out a hairstylist who looked at my hair from a distance. I heard them discussing how she had an open slot at 12:15pm and she changed it in the system saying no I'm going on lunch I'm not doing that hair and walked off. The first woman kept saying there's no Afro American people here to do my hair and if I wanted it done with them I needed to come back at 3:30 or 4 other than that she's not getting anyone to do it. I was so irritated with this statement that I left and went down the street to Ulta. This store is definitely not walk in and I will never go back again. I've been there plenty of times and never had to wait for an Afro American person to wash my hair and I never experienced customer service like this. Don't go there. read more

Regarding the optical center. The rest of the store is fine : I will absolutely never go here again. The girl at the desk on 11/17/15 between the hours of 2 and 5 was unbelievably rude. For one - she enjoyed playing on her phone instead of working. For two, while I was waiting I listened to her be very rude and unhelpful to another customer. Three - when I came out from our mediocre eye exam with my daughter (it was her exam) I found a credit card laying on the desk. When I told the desk attendant that it was there she stated that she knew it was there - and that it belonged to another customer. The card was completely unattended and could have easily been stolen or had the numbers photographed. I then listened to her be rude to those customers upon having their card returned to them as she neglected to kindly explain to them why their card was not being read by the computer. She then shoved my daughters eye prescription towards us, stated we were all set.... And upon my asking if she needed to see my insurance card since we had not been there in two years and also asking for a receipt of our visit was rude yet again. I proceeded to report her to a JC Penney employee and will continue to report her to a higher department. This is deplorable. I took my business elsewhere. Considering my daughter is getting contacts and glasses the company easily lost hundreds of dollars. read more
