What a fantastic portrait studio experience! After deciding to buy into the ads from JcPenney on the clock app, I figured that my little family and I could see how a session went there before paying double for a local shoot. Getting an appointment online was incredibly easy and they even offer some great deals along with multiple backgrounds and even props. I haven't been to JcPenney since I was a child but this one wasn't any different. The store was huge, clean and packed with different holiday decor and gifts alike. When we entered, we had no clue where to go and this nice woman was at the front of the store assisting anyone who walked in and she guided us to the studio. The studio itself is soooo small! But I can't blame JcPenney, they probably didn't know that their photo sessions would go so crazy but, they have - time for more space. There were seats for about 6 people and our Doona stroller embarrassingly took up more foot space than expected. Business is definitely booming back there though! Despite our set appointment, we didn't actually get into our shoot until an hour later because there was so much traffic. Honestly, that wasn't ideal but we totally understood because when we got into our session with our 8month old - he showed out lol. Leaving us to take an extra 20+ minutes than most probably because we were feeding and bribing a baby to smile. Our photographer was AWESOME. He was incredibly patient, kind and did all he could to make our son smile. We left with a number of great pictures that we'll be able to share for years to come and with their special(s), we walked out paying a little over $100. Not bad at all, we'll be back to snap some shots in the studio again! read more

I've been coming to this JCPenney in Hiram for years, and it's one of those stores that feels like a steady part of the community. In fact, this is where I first signed up for my JCPenney credit card many years ago when I was just starting to build my credit. Over time, I've never had an issue with this location, which says a lot about their consistency. The store has moved things around over the years, and while I've noticed the clearance racks seem to shrink every time I visit (and I'm not a fan of the upcharge on XL clothing), the savings on their regular sales usually balance things out. There are always solid deals to be found if you take the time to browse, and the app plus the store card can help stack even more discounts. What I've always appreciated most is the staff. They're consistently friendly, quick at checkout, and always go out of their way to find extra savings. I also always get a warm welcome when I walk in and a thank you when I leave -- small gestures that make a big difference. The store is usually busy, but not overwhelming except around the holidays, and it still manages to feel well-run. I went here looking for something to wear to my dad's funeral and it was the worst shopping experience and I promise on everything that it wasn't due to me grieving. The 1st person that I located had only been there a week was very nice without knowledge to help or guide me to someone that could. I asked a young lady before deciding to leave asto if and wear suits were located she pointed to a area and became agitated when asked to show me. Upon leaving the 1 African American lady that had greated me nicely was grouped up with a number of employees sharing a great blessing that her love one was opening there eyes and speaking. I prayed for them ALL as I departed and I will never visit a JC Penny not only due to what I experienced at this location but I only tried to shop here because it was close and wanted to give them a try. This store is very busy all the time. So go early if you can. There is a Sephora inside, as well as a hair salon. They have a great selection for big and tall men, lots of really great dresses and work clothes for women. I especially like the Liz Claiborne selection there. And they have unique gifts for those people who have everything. Home goods, tech gifts, and more. They have a large selection of kitchen wares - I love the dishes and pots and pans I've purchased there many times before. Lots of great holiday decor too. My favorite department is jewelry. Monet has always been a favorite of mine and it's not easy to find anymore. read more

The staff at this location are amazing. The photographer is very experienced and the prices are reasonable for the amount of photos you get. You are able to see your photos immediately after the session. At that time you are able to select the ones you want. the photos are ready in a few days which is always a plus. While she did a GREAT job on the haircut itself the styling looked "WILD," her vibe wasn't all that friendly or welcoming, and my hair felt so DRY and CRISPY after a oliplex conditioning treatment she recommended.... This review isn't for JCpenny. It's actually for Sephorra inside of JCPenny. Sephorra didn't have a separate address. The shop has a small setup inside of JCPenny. I lack makeup knowledge with all of the new things that are out today. Actually I thought the younger women would be more lively and exciting. Instead they were boring, dull and never showed any initiative. I'd suggest you go to the larger chain where there are more people willing to help. The two Sephorra employees appeared to be in their early 20's. I hate to say it but many young people in general lack customer care and courtesy. They don't have that instinct older people have to know what a customer needs. Not only that, they didn't smile much or seemed willing to help. I didn't feel welcomed at all. Photo studio review: Do NOT buy these full price. There is almost always a Groupon. I feel super stupid for paying $85 for 3 digital pictures when I could've gotten 3 and a print for $29.99 on Groupon. Insanely high like most studios. The pictures were cute, I know it's not easy to take photos of a toddler so for the quick session they did great. Really just mad (at myself) for the price. read more

While it's not a full size JC Penney, they are relatively close and even if they don't stock what you have you can order online to home or pick it up here. Terrible place; not sure how it's still open. The store has typical JCPenney fare. The pricing can be difficult to understand. There are tags on the merchandise, but many of the racks have "20% off this rack" or "60% off this rack" above them, so it's difficult to know exactly what the price is. I had to wait in line a long, long, long time. There were several reasons for this delay. Part of it is the customer base; a lot of the customers had children running around, so they were dividing their attention trying to corral kids and attend to the register. It happens. Another part of it is coupon haggling; customers are wanting to use this coupon, and the cashier is arguing about why it's not applicable to this merchandise, and so forth. Not much fun. A third reason the line takes so long is that the cashiers keep pushing the JCPenney rewards program, and _then_ the JCPenney credit card. Even if you say no, they go over this speech telling you about all the rewards and 10% off this and 30% off that and how these companies don't do coupons but you can get discounts with the JCPenney reward program. And then, when you get through all that and finally say no, it starts all over with the stupid credit card promotion, and you have to go through it all again. The cashiers are probably just doing what is pushed on them, but it's quite annoying and slows down the line a lot. The cashiers and workers themselves are haggled and worn thin. It's clear they're trying to do their best, but many of them are younger or middle-aged women for whom this job is clearly a second job to try to make ends meet. I feel bad for them, but it makes for a less-than-pleasant experience for the customer. After waiting in line for all this time, I finally got the register. After going through the rewarss program/credit card schpiel, I was finally ready to pay for my items with the gift card I'd been given. But surprise surprise; the cashier doesn't know how to redeem a gift card. She tries five times to redeem it; I swipe and get an error (I know the gift card is good, because I used the same physical card at a JCPenney). I finally told her not to worry about it, left my merchandise, and walked out of the store that cost me 45 minutes of my life with nothing to show for it. I'll not be returning, nor would I advise anyone else to. read more

Customer service at this store is non-existent. Want to know why JC Penny keeps filing for bankruptcy - your customer service is horrible. I ordered two pair of pants for pick-up at the store. Go in on a Saturday morning, the pick up desk is closed. No sign at the front door and poor placement of the sign at the pick-up desk. Some genius thought it would be a good idea to put the closed sign in between the two registers instead of in front of the register directly below the pick-up sign. Had to go all the way up to the front, wait in a long line with only two cashiers working on a Saturday, none of them wearing name tags and me getting in a bad mood real fast. Thanks for putting me in a bad mood. It took over 20 minutes for me to pick up a prepaid order. The manager of this store needs to be retrained in excellent customer service along with the cashiers. They failed to respond properly and then treat me like I was the one that caused the problem. This is all on the manager and he/she should be written up for failing to properly schedule his/her staff. Only one person on the staff apologized for the problem. I will never order anything from Penny's anymore, they cannot be trusted to get it in a timely manner. Four (4) weeks is unacceptable for something that should be in stock in the store. This too reflects directly on the store manager. It was frustrating enough to have to sort through unorganized clothing just to find there was only one pair Levi's in a common size. This is a direct reflection on poor management of supply chain. All these issues factor into a loss of customers. read more

This review is for the salon and specifically, stylist Brandi. I requested an appointment for the Chi blowout, via the JCP website. I arrived on time and Brandi was there waiting. When I arrived she looked a little apprehensive, when she discovered I was her client but was nice overall. Although very friendly, I was kind of put off by her demeanor and immediate concerns regarding "flat ironing my hair straight enough". I say this, because Brandi is a master stylist who has a lot of experience doing the Chi. Anyone who has experience with this process should know it's used to eliminate frizz and will smooth out during the flat ironing stage...on ANY hair type. I'm from a small town in NH and of all the times I have had this process done, 5 of the times have been by white woman. All whom have done a phenomenal job and never brought into question anything concerning my hair type. So from my personal experience, I don't think race matters when doing hair. It's simply either - You can do it or you can't. Now, I appreciate her brining to my attention that she was not experienced in "natural hair" but it was a little embarrassing for me because it's not like my hair is technically natural, made of steel or difficult. Super thick and long, yes, but not difficult. I explained I had the process done 6-7 times before, so again, as an experienced stylist who's done the Chi, you should know there would be no issues "getting it straight enough". Each time the process is done, it gets easier and easier. I think overall Brandi did a good job and was nice enough, but the reason for a moderate rating was: 1. The big deal made about getting my hair straight. You're a master stylist, you should know how the process works on all hair types. If not, educate yourself. You live in a diverse area. NH is not diverse at all and I never had an issue there, concerning my hair. 2. My hair was never parted into sections or parted at all for that matter, with a comb. I don't know if she was just scared to part it or not. Pieces were just portioned via her finger or a hair clip and sloppily half clipped out of the way. This caused a lot of snagging when it was eventually flat ironed. Had it been properly sectioned off into four quadrants and then each quadrant parted into small pieces ( as it's been done in the past, every time I've had it done), it would have come out even better. 3. You canNOT use a small tooth comb to comb out my hair when it's basically dry. That causes my hair to be pulled, snagged on the small teeth and is painful. I give her props for trying, but as a stylist who's done this treatment before, she should have at least parted it correctly. Hair type shouldn't even come into play with something that basic. I should have spoken up, but simply felt awkward the whole time. All in all, A for effort. The only issue with the result, was that the ends weren't as straight as they should have been; she didn't flat iron from root to tip. So, I had to fix it when I got home. For $205 (not Including tip), I shouldn't have to go in and fix anything. read more

This review is really for sephoria inside of JcPenny. I came in looking for a birthday present for my sister and left with a whole lot more lol. Chelsea asked did I want a mini make over and since it was date night, I said sure make my eyebrows fabulous. First of all her makeup was flawless so I had full confidence in her abilities. She pulled out the anastasia brow pencil and I know this was going to be great. She explained everything she was doing and she showed me in the mirror exactly what to do. This was such a great learning experience. She showed me the best consealer for eyebrows (it was the new Nars one). After she was finished I looked like halle berry lol OK not quite but I looked great. She answered any questions that I had and was really patient. She recommended some other products and was not pushy for me to buy them. I got my sister's gift, and some gifts for me and happily skipped out the store...after paying of course lol. The worse EXPERIENCE EVER !! today my baby boy turns 6 months !!I had my 3 yr & 6 yr with me as well !! I was super excited to take him to the portrait studio to get some fun photos. Everything was great until I changed my sons outfit to a different outfit from home . The photographer let me know that while I was nursing my son the store manager Susan came in the studio and asked him to tell me to pay for my son outfit because the outfit had tags on them . I explained that I walked in the store with this outfit to a sales rep. I had to end my session and take my son to the front of the store where I explained that I did not steal this outfit I brought it from home . I had to explain that the outfit was brand new and show the tags on the outfit to make sure it wasn't jcpenny. I asked for Susan several times but everyone told me Susan was busy in the back of the store . I wanted to know how Susan could say she seen me steal my sons outfit when I brought it with me . I'm so sad that my sons 6 month day was ruined!! The manager staff was very rule & my children were so scared . I knew I did nothing wrong but I left in disbelief!! I need answers JCPENNY!! I hate shopping with a passion! So when my children received an e gift card for Christmas, we had no choice but to go in order to use it. The store is clean and organized, but there is really nothing special about this store. The clothes are nice, but my children had a hard time finding things they liked. The check out process was somewhat of a nightmare because the line was long, and the cashiers were friendly yet slow. My visits will continue to be few and far between. read more

Ok so I'm not sure what is going on at JCP in Hiram but their inventory has been HORRIBLE. There is not anything in store worth buying from clothes to everything else. I been there a few times hoping they would have a more robust inventory and walk out the store each time saying "meh" and head over to Kohl's. Maybe it's the result of the pandemic and the company as a whole going through bankruptcy. But other stores don't seem to be suffering as much, like Kohl's. It's too bad. We have shopped with this branch of JC Penney for many years. The management is great and the staff is really nice. The store is clean and usually we find what we are in search of and do not need to look else where. I want to mention a lady who went beyond her job description to help me and my family. Edit: spoke to a Ava Jones "salon manager" and she was extremely rude and reluctantly gave me a refund and made snappy comments to me despite how nice I was being. She tried telling me there was nothing to fix, my hair was fine despite me saying it's gray and not what I asked for. She tried to give me a split refund for the color since the cut was fine but the system wouldn't let her and one of the many remarks were "well guess you get a free haircut today too." She was very arrogant, cocky, snappy, and rude. Definitely will never go here again. -------------- Overall: 1: the highlight color is uneven 2: the stylist did what she wanted despite what I asked for. 3: unfriendly and talked about how bad other salons are like great clips 4: my hair is fried where they over processed it 5: Over priced 6: ripped and tangled my hair when trying to style it Full story: I dyed my hair black 8-9 months ago on natural medium brown hair and with a strip of pink bangs. Last week I asked for a cut and color. Off the bat I was put off because I told my stylist that I wanted dirty blonde and my pink to be left alone. She tells me "no no. We can't do dirty blonde." And made it seem like my hair was too weak to attain a dirty blonde so I showed her photos of my past hair with dirty blonde and I told her that's the color I want. So she says "that's not dirty blonde. That's not what dirty blonde looks like." Then grabs out swatches and shows my mom what dirty blonde actually looks like, so I tell her I do not want black in my hair any longer Whether it be dirty blonde or a light brown after that she said ok. I asked about pricing (because there aren't signs). she asks if I'm going to have a full head of foils or half a head of foils and I said I guess full? and she brings me a calculator that says 130 which I didn't appreciate because I wanted to see the prices of all the services. Before she starts my hair she says "I can't do a full head dirty blonde so I'm going to do highlights" and I told her as long as there is as little black as possible, I will be happy. She does chunky highlights and tells me she will touch up my pink. 30 minutes later she says my hair is pulling the color pink and will leave me under the dryer longer. after rinsing she puts in the color "mocha" and the pink. The pink wasn't sectioned off so when she was blow drying my hair (very aggressively at that. I was hit in the eye, I could feel my hair being ripped out and hear some snapping) I can see unevenness in color, the pink bled through, and the highlights are GRAY and there was a lot of black left the way it was at the bottom of my hair. I had a bubble gum pink before and the pink she put in was a bright fushia on the left and a coral on the right. my mom demanded that she fix it and we all decide on a dark cherry red as she rinses that she says "do you mind leaving here with curly hair? If I blow dry it, I'll have to charge you an extra $40." I said "what?" And she said "I can put you under that dryer but I can't blow dry it". After 10-15 minutes under the dryer my hair looked disgusting. It was cold and sprinkling outside and my hair was still wet in some spots. Looking at me, It looks like a friend did my hair in the bathroom. I could not at all believe I left a salon the way my hair looked. read more

Ok so I Love Jcpenny but this Sephora here is the worst!!! They dont ask you if you need help and when you ask them for help they make a face like you are bothering them!!! One day i went with my mom and she was at check out buying a makeup brush the lady was so rude to my mom told her she couldnt help her!!! So when we got to the car my mom broke down and cried!!! So she gave me her purchase to return and speak with maneger!!! When i went the maneger was on lunch so we spoke to another lady from a different department in jcpenny this lady was so understanding and polite and asked us if we wanted a sample of anything but after the way sephora lady treated my mom, she just wanted her money back. This is for ONLINE JCP orders! I ordered an expensive pair of diamond earrings, which they said they delivered. THEY DID NOT! Now, I have to file a police report for the "lost package" because the value of the earrings were over a certain dollar amount. Now, I ask you - WHY THE HECK DIDN'T YOU SHIP THE PACKAGE WITH A "SIGNATURE REQUIRED?" Why would you just throw the package on my porch (allegedly). PORTRAIT STUDIO REVIEW: I like this location a lot! I was a little skeptical about going back to JcPenny's for my son's milestone pictures. I went to the location in McDonough for his 3month and 6 month portraits. It was just okay. The girl taking the pics made silly sounds and tried to capture his attention well but I felt like I kept having to jump in to make sure his clothes and his posture were straight. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like the photograph should be the one to ensure a great picture... ANYWHO, for his 12 month shoot, I decided to try Hiram. The lady at the Hiram location (whose name I don't know) was pretty good. She faked sneezed, shook keys, and did whatever she had to in order to get my son's attention and a good smile. She also let me incorporate his favorite books from home and took my pose suggestion (me reading to my son). She then continued with the books and got several great pics of my son "reading" and showing off his books. Overall, it turned out for a fantastic and very realistic shoot. I've been driving quite a distance to shop at the Hiram Penney's since the store in Cumberland Mall was closed years ago. I am never disappointed when I shop there. The quality and selection of merchandise is excellent. The store has a lot of visual appeal, much like a Belk's or Macy's. And, the associates are helpful and friendly. They understand the value of time and will work hard to get you checked out in an efficient manner. Worth the drive...for sure! read more
