I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with JCPenney. I hope anyone who reads this review does not purchase any mattresses from JCP. I purchased a queen-size Sealy Posturepedic Firm mattress set online in March 2023 for $981. The set went flat just short of 24 months. Upon checkout you see that you have a 10-year limited warranty on the product, but no mention of a second hurdle--SCAM by JCP. The SCAM is JCPenney's "mattress policy." If the product is more than 120 days old the customer must pay a 15% restocking fee, and reorder a replacement set, but gracious JCP will waive the $85 delivery fee. Then after the replacement set is delivered and the defective product is entered into inventory, the customer receives their "initial" payment back. Have you ever read or heard of such fraud? Think I am lying, read it for yourself. Here is the link: https://www.jcpenney.com/m/furniture-and-mattress-return-policy I entered a BBB review and several Corporate Customer Relations representatives called but everyone "apologized and said I was a valued customer." I then said just forget it I don't want to pay almost $1,000 upfront again from YOUR store. I was told they would waive the "20%" restocking fee but I still had to pay the $85 fee to have the defective product retrieved and then once again when the item was entered into inventory at the warehouse I would receive a refund. Then I received an about-face decision that my only option was to pay upfront AFTER I emailed the CEO of JCPenney. read more

I've reviewed this store before... I had to come here because my girlfriend wanted to check out some make up in the sephora department of the store. The sales associate was nice and was knowledgeable about what is perfect for her. She was satisfied from the visit as well. The rest of the store was really nice, great to see that this store was busy. read more

I don't usually leave reviews but I just want to share our shopping experience here at JC Penney. One sale associate helped my husband finding the right suit and tie that we needed on weekend. She really passionate on her job and I couldn't believe how patient she was. She gives opinions and she's very knowledgeable. After on suits section, we go in women's section. It is filled with beautiful women's dresses and clothing that is colorful, fashionable and perfect for our event this coming weekend. The clothing is reasonably priced and most times the store offers a 15% to 25% discount. Great products with good value for the money. read more

I order online, but the order took longer than I thought, so I brought what something else. Finally the order was to be pick up a JCP at Ford city. I no longer needed it. I call the pick-up Department which transfer me to Jewerly Department. I was told that I had to come in to cancel these items. I relpy to the lady that I would not come in and to cancel these items. Finally, the order was cancel but I did not receive my full refund. I paid $83.05 and they refund me $53.05. Jc Penney owe me $30.00. I call JCP about my money and all of a sudden they need to do a review. How can they get this wrong when the order shows what I paid. This is a scam and a way to steal money from their customers...I want the rest of my money!! JCP have losted me as a customer and my business. I love the selection and on line ordering. However, Ford City was sold and the planters outside JC penney are dead. Inside I went through east doors of JC Penney to on line pick up. There were two ladies waiting and one man who took forever to get his return done due to some issue with tags. There were 4 other people- all employees- back there at that area watching us wait and doing nothing. Once girl intermittently helped cashier; lady with long dark hair glasses and spaces in her teeth fanning herself non stop; one tagging clothes; a very tall curly haired man all like they were on break all laughing and ignoring people waiting to get on line pick up. The ropes back there are falling over in a make shift " get in this line" and area is in disarray. I was upset and loudly said to another girl" Is there any help back here?? to which miss fanning her self looked right through us. By the time I got to the register and the girl went back to get by order- she then turned to me and said "is anyone helping you?" I was like DUH...you have been looking right though me for th elast 15 minutes. It is no wonder sales in this chain have declined. Only two shopping carts for us to take out orders to our cars. Look at your cameras by Hair salon lobby 5:50pm to 6:30 pm east side where on line pick up lobby is 8/20/19 and watch your labor cost going down the toilet. I swear to god that I've reviewed this JCP before, I think it got lost in the Yelp universe. Anyway....yes, it is in Ford City....yes, Ford City isn't that great of a place.....yes, the neighborhood has changed......yes, lots of the store surrounding it are empty. If you can get past all of that.....go here. Honestly, this store has the BEST customer service out of any department store I've been too. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, and it is natural, not fake. They have a great selection of clothes, workout attire, coats, and dresses. Their bed & bath stuff is wonderful - best towels ever. The prices are amazing, and there are always coupons. I feel like JCP has revamped the training of their employees. I have noticed the younger staff talk way to much! They make the lines take for ever, if it pertained to the purchases that were being made that would be one thing, but on several occasions I have just heard nonsense. Everyone is friendly and I like the selection of clothing for the whole family. Lines can be long, especially during the holidays and whenever they have a good sale going on. read more

If only zero stars were available... Went yesterday and was literally policed by some woman who kept marching around the small space standing behind me for no reason. My mom asked her for the price of a specific pair of glasses and she responded that the glasses were "different prices." The "sale" is supposed to be two pairs for $99 but we were quoted a price of $693.00 . They looked for a cheaper price and quoted $673. Of course they justified the $600 price difference with the complexity of the prescription. Guess what? The last pair of glasses my mom got were also from here and she can not see in those either--from day one. The optometrist who examined her yesterday confirmed that the glasses were made incorrectly. My last experience with them ended with them stealing a pair of glasses I ordered which were really sharp then replacing them with some crazy looking glasses I had never seen. We tried giving them another chance but never again. No wonder they are going out of business they should. read more

Worst JCPenny location EVER. Avoid at all costs. They make you wait 30+ minutes in line (during the week, not even on a weekend) even when there are only 5 people ahead of you in line, 3 of which only had less than 5 items. This is ridiculous. All 3 customer service locations had lines with 10+ people in line. This is not acceptable, it isn't even a holiday. NEVE COMING BACK. read more

Let me CLARIFY this review. This review is ONLY for the JC Penney Furniture store in Ford City! The furniture store is a stand alone store and is NOT physically connected the the big JC Penney store. The staff at the JC Penney store are excellent. I purchased a bed there. Staff was expert and professional. They honored my request to browse uninterrupted. When I was ready, they came and assisted me. I was finished in no time! I am really enjoying my bed. The mattress is firm and comfortable and the cost was appropriate for the quality. Very, very disappointed in the jewelry department here. Some employees in this department - sure, they can be helpful, some of them seem that they want you to get the hell out of their sight, some of them are possibly unhappy with themselves - don't take it out on the customer who is there to make a purchase and provide business. Your job is to assist the customer, is it not? Are you actually getting paid to avoid us customers? My boyfriend visited a counter knowing exactly what he wanted, but the item was locked in a case. He stood unattended for about 15 minutes while at least a single employee noticed his presence; a tall, stocky, red/copper haired older woman in her 50s or 60s - you should be ashamed of yourself. Nice move trying to pretend you didn't notice anyone standing there. (The guy can't be missed, 6'2, football build, stern face) Next round, my turn(several hours later) I go in on my own and walk up to the counter in front of the item I want, again, locked up and I cannot retrieve without employee assistance. I stood there while being noticed by SEVERAL employees but absolutely no service. I wasn't attended to for about 15 minutes as well. I am a very easygoing and patient person, but this really boiled my blood and blew a fuse underneath the skullcap. I was ready to scream and holler, making sure a manager got my attention but I kept my composure. :) Utterly inexcusable. I could MOST DEFINITELY understand if business was heavy, there was an emergency situation, etc. but there is NO reason for this sort of BULL**** customer service. I will not be returning to the jewelry department at this JCPenney, PERIOD. I will gladly spend my money at another JCPenney location. read more

What is there not to love about JC Penny? Well if you're like me and love a good sale this is the place for you. It's closer to me than Macy's which is probably for my own good. My only gripe which is no fault of the business is that sometimes it can get pretty busy which makes the lines long so this is definitely not a place to run into if you have somewhere to be. read more

I checked it every time when I was in the mall. Yes, their brands are limited, but most of the time, the price is so good that you just can not get out barehanded. I bought brand new strafford shirts, Joshef abbound shirts for 5 bucks, izod sweatshirt for $17, izod pants for $10 each , jcp men's 100% wool blazer for $24 just name a few this Jan. plus their return policy is nice. Great clothing store! I especially like there variety of brand jeans they have; makes shopping quick and easy, just how I like it. :) Also, the customer service is wonderful - their always willing to help. The only thing I disliked is, there's a restriction on how many garments you can try on at one time. read more

JCP SCAM ALERT: Do not buy candy or other items offered at checkout counter. Bag of Jelly Beans advertised at $2.99 rings up at $15 - MARKED DOWN FROM $40. I reported this error to manager two different days, but they've made no effort to fix. Not only is it easy to miss the overcharge in cart of goods, but also inflates your reported savings. Always check your receipt at JCP!!! read more

For years the Ford City area was not a place you would go after dark. However, it seems that recently businesses are putting money back into the area and it is beginning to pay off. JCPenney is no exception. Every time I've been there the store is impeccably clean, they have a large selection, and best part is: there's no one else there! read more

Visited this JCPenney to do some Christmas shopping. The associates were great. Customer service was outstanding. The store was very busy but VERY organized, not like other stores around Christmas with clothes laying everywhere. I was able to get in and find what I was looking for and get on my way with time to spare. The sales people at the store were helpful and friendly without being pushy. I found a necklace that I wanted to purchase as a gift online and called the store and the sales associate, Miss Thomas, made sure she put my name on it as it was the only one left. I came in the next day and she knew who I was and was great about making sure I was happy with my purchase. After having a bad experience with false advertising last summer, I chose not to spend any money at this location. I understand now that a sign was incorrectly worded, and the manager was not aware of her job. So on a whim, I decided to stop by for a dress shirt and tie. I ended up buying two dress shirts, (buy one get one for a penny), as well as a tie, same promotion! I didn't even realize the sale was in effect until the sales associate Nely pointed it out to me. She was so cordial, and very well versed in the promotion, that I ended up applying for and receiving a JC Penny credit card! I got an additional discount just for applying! I failed to get my additional discount because it has to be used within 24hours of applying for your card, but I will not let that discourage me. I even went back for a pair of dress shoes and another dress shirt, but the promotion was over. I didn't have access to my email so I didn't know I had a coupon to use, but I will definitely be back to use it! Great Job to Nely, who changed my overall impression of JC Penny in one conversation, with her amazing smile and personality! She is truly an asset to the store! read more

This is an update to my original review which explained the problem we had with a couch order being pushed further back each month and no one being willing to help. Since writing the review, I refused to give up and wrote emails and placed additional phone calls. Someone very helpful from jcp.com emailed me back suggesting I directly contact the manager at the store i purchased the product. I called and spoke with manager Raymond Dubie who placed phone calls to the warehouse on my behalf right away and was able to arrange a delivery for the very next week. I was not prepared to update my review until the couch was indeed delivered, but it was delivered as promised by Mr. Dubie, today. After waiting a couple of months and salespeople making empty promises, he salvaged an otherwise unpleasant experience. Although I feel the staff in general should have been more helpful, the manager was great. read more
