These photographers are awful and the rules they have to follow make it even worse. They don't check the pics to see if they are level, so the baseboard in the back is always crooked. They don't take multiple shots of one pose either, so if it's a pose you wanted and anything is off that's it. They should be snapping away to get natural shots of young children smiling, but they don't want to waste their time waiting on you to look through the pics. They cut off hair, feet and other parts. How hard is it to stand back and get a full shot. They just have no experience and the only training they get is in upselling photo packages. I really hate that they force you to pick 2 backgrounds, so be prepared. This studio in particular is REALLY dirty. The backgrounds have stains, the baseboard has stains and once you view your photos at home you can tell. You can't tell from their monitor. The TV for kids doesn't work. Why can't they clean and get the tv to work so children can watch a movie while they wait for you to look through the photos. At least remove it and put a chair in its place. Only go here if you are desperate for some cheap shots. Don't believe their sales lines when they say oh this is soo adorable, that's precious, this is a good one. Most of the poses they have kids do suck. Your kid isn't even smiling and they will say it's a good one. Just tell them no. Trust your gut that the pics suck and just get the 1 or 2 you really want. read more

Absolutely would NOT recommend THIS studio in particular. They lost my son's newborn photos in 2020. I took him to get his pictures done (his newborn photos, pretty important right?) I paid a few hundred dollars for prints to be picked up in a couple weeks after taking them. During that wait time THE STUDIO SHUT DOWN DUE TO COVID!!! I tried for a YEAR getting those photos, I called everyone to corporate to life touch and everyone whom I thought was associated with producing my pictures. NOBODY ANSWERED and or they gave me the run around and used "COVID shutting down the studio" as the excuse why my photos got lost. I had to wait until they re opened just to go down there to find out they never received the photos from where they print them out due to the same excuse. Absolutely ridiculous service and completely unprofessional with no empathy or accommodations to their mistakes, they didn't even reach out to the customers to tell us this information. Like what happened to my pictures?? To this day I have no idea and said I would NEVER use them again. Well guess what I did because I'm dumb sometimes? I SAW AN AD ON FB 2 WEEKS AGO FOR "A GREAT DEAL ON DIGITAL PHOTOS", I fell for it and got me and my kids photos done last week, like if I get the DIGITAL PACKAGE THEY CANT MESS THAT UP RIGHT? Like it'll be different this time because they email you the photos and I can get reassured by their JCPenney photo employees that I will NOT encounter the same thing & I will FOR SURE receive my photos digitally NO PROBLEM & if I do have an issue and not receive them in 24 hrs; all I'd have to do is call them and they'll fix it no problem. Ya BIG MISTAKE!!!! You'll never guess what happened?? So I've been waiting for my photos since 12/17, I received the email SAYING THEYRE AVAILABLE!!! I click on the link and guess what?????? NO PHOTOSSSSS TO BE FOUND, and I've talked to the customer service with Shutterfly twice and they say my email I used to receive my photos doesn't exist in their system!!! Like who sent me this email and why does it say my email and lifetouch and Shutterfly ARE all connected??? Now I have to wait until tomorrow to hopefully get my photos. I'll be contacting my bank and reporting fraud if this doesn't get fixed this time. DO NOT USE THEM FOR YOUR PHOTOS YOU GUYS!!! I did my headshots today and as another review mentioned (I did not check reviews prior to scheduling- my mistake) the photographer provided zero direction. These headshots are pretty important yet she did 12 poses and did not listen to anything I had requested. I had a friend with me that literally had to ask her if she could stand on something as she has me standing in front of her and she is about a foot shorter than me and he realized that this was not a great angle..when he said something she took one picture using a step stool and then immediately began taking pictures again from ground level? It felt super rushed and like the photographer had zero enthusiasm or excitement in being there and quite literally felt as if she was annoyed she had to take my picture. Overall it was an awful experience and I do not at all recommend. It is worth it to pay a professional for pictures as they may take some pride in the shots and hopefully will provide some direction in what looks good from their point of view. read more

I am livid with my experience at JCP portraits they refused to show and sell me my photos because they didn't come out "good" who are you to tell me if my pictures are good to your own standards. We came in as a family with two little kids under the age 3 what do you expect from them to get perfect pictures??? if I choose to buy pictures with their eyes closes that's for me to decide . They wanted us to reschedule but with how kids are it's unpredictable and who has the time to go twice. Laura you're a horrible manager. The biggest complaint I have is their hidden fees. It's always double the advertised price after your membership, the sitting fee per person, and shipping and handling to send you the photos. 190 turned into 270 real quick. For that price I would have just hired a photographer to come to my house. They also don't let you see your photos till you're done, so when I got to the end I noticed every photo I had hair sticking out weird and my shirt was all funky on one side. Ruined every photo I was in. They included several photos of my son not even smiling too instead of retaking them. read more

I found a great deal on groupon for pictures and christmas cards. I scheduled an appointment without any issues and was able to reschedule with no problems either as I wasn't able to attend to my original appointment. The day of my appointment my family (husband & 1 month old) were running late. (Appt at 5:15pm....traffic is no joke during this time...damn 91) I called to notify and they said they'll get us in after the next appointment they had, understandable as we were 30 mins late. Our photographer Mayra was great. Made us feel comfortable during the photo session and was wonderful with our baby. Granted, he was asleep but she did not wake him up and positioned/adjusted him many times and she took the cutest pictures of him with props. During the photo selection phase she helped us decide on which pictures to select for our christmas cards (huge help as we were indecisive on which ones to choose) once she showed us, I was like YES! This is what I like and wanted. lol Overall, it was a wonderful experience and now we have family photos and Christmas cards! Definitely recommend looking at groupon as they have other deals and you wont have to pay full price or the actual session fee. read more

I have been to this location maybe 4 or 5 times and the experience completely depends on the photographer. First and foremost I am giving this place 1 star for my overall experience but LEAH DESERVES 5 STARS!!! We have worked with her twice and she is always wonderful. If I could request her as our photographer every time I would come back but because I cannot I will just make the drive to Brea. We have had negative experiences here before with other photographers but today really did it for us. Melissa, the older lady with glasses who took almost a minute to notice us because she was looking down on her phone txting when we walked in, spent all of her time telling us how she wishes we would have gotten there earlier because we were a few minutes late. The place was completely empty, maybe she wanted more time to txt. It sounded like we, the customers, were such an inconvenience to her so we did not even take our pictures. We said we would just go somewhere else and left because honestly even when she called us to confirm our appointment she did not seem very friendly either. We told her the photo shoot was for our baby and she decided to give unsolicited parenting advice but we were hoping that maybe she would not be the one taking our pictures, we were wrong. read more

The photographer was nice and took a lot Of different poses but I felt really rushed. Not sure if it's how she works or the time constraint due to other appointments after me. I also felt so rushed even looking at the pictures and choosing what I wanted. I wish I would have had a little more guidance on my poses etc so I could have taken the best pictures possible. With more guidance etc, I probably would have liked more of the pictures and would pay for more poses. I didn't expect JCP portraits to be the best but felt it could have been a better experience. I came here to take professional headshots. My appointment was at 1 and I got there 5 minutes early. Once I chose my 2 backgrounds and she fixed the studio, we started taking pictures and wow, there was no chance to even fix your hair or blazer between shots. We finished the session at 1:03! The photographer was very nice but I couldn't believe how useless she was at trying to capture a great shot. Like please tell me to straighten my shoulders, tell me if my hair is out of place. She did none of that, no extra time to fix your hair between poses. I definitely recommend going to an independent photography business. Not to mention how expensive they are and they don't even touch them up at all. read more

I changed my previous rating because although the customer service was not fully what I expected, the pictures that were taken were rather excellent. Our photographer who was the manager did do a great job of capturing my daughters beautiful personality and sweetness. I dont normally write reviews especially bad ones but today, I was very upset. After our photo session, my husband and I specifically and repeatedly told the person who assisted us that we want to get a 16x20 on one of pictures and she told us she was going to put it in. Picked up the pictures, told us we did not order a 16x20 and to check our receipt, made me feel like I was lying. Checked our receipt, of course there's no breakdown of what you paid for, it's whatever they punched in their system. Lesson learned, make sure you ask a copy of what you are ordering. Apparently, people are not honest anymore and this place is a perfect example. Never again. read more

I've been here twice. The first time I took pictures with my siblings. The shoot went by really fast one shot per pose, we weren't very happy about that but we figured that's the policy when photographing adults. The second time my sister and I brought our children to shoot. Again, one shot per pose. How can that be? Yes u get many poses but if 1 picture out of 7-9 poses is the only decent one, how is that fair? Kids are not going to all be looking at the camera in that ONE shot. When we put a lot of time, money, and effort in coordinating the shoot for our kids, we expect you to take the time to make sure our time is valued and not rushed. Needless to say we ordered 2 out of 10 poses, again not because they were amazing and the kids were attentive, but bc we had no choice bc those were the only shots taken, that were decent and we weren't going to go home empty handed. Quality over Quantity I wish they believed the same. A little more consideration for the customer esp when dealing with little ones would be appreciated. I'm not saying to keep shooting until the customer is satisfied, but one shot per pose isn't effective for the paying customer. The picture quality on the other hand is great but again doesn't mean much if your not satisfied with the photography. read more

My order was messed up and when I gave them my name to pick up the pictures, they could not find them because they spelled my name wrong in their system. Picture people does a much better job. I went in today to get my kids birthday pics done. I was very early and since they had a movie playing I decided to just stay so the kids didn't mess themselves up. During this time I overheard a gentleman (taking holiday photos with his family) being very rude to the photographer. Then when he was viewing his photos, another employee asked him to move to another computer because the one he was on happened to be the only one that can upload the pictures. He basically flipped out and was disrespectful to the employee- then called corporate while In the store. I mentioned to the employee that I saw everything and not to worry, he's a jerk. I also called their corporate to let them know that I saw everything and the employee didn't do anything wrong. Furthermore, they were very kind to me and even apologized for making me wait so long (even though it was my fault for being so early). End of the story, they are very affordable which makes them busy. I felt I had great customer service and there is never a good reason to be disrespectful and belittle someone who is just trying to to their job. The employees handled themselves well today considering the customer they had to deal with. I felt the need to share on their behalf. We will be going back for family photos in a couple weeks. read more
