Jason Perryman was the very first vendor my husband and I booked, well over a year in advance of our wedding. We found Jason's work on Wedding Wire and then browsed his portfolio on his website and Instagram. We met up for coffee to get more info and were really liked his calm, reassuring personality. His prices were within our budget and very reasonable. Jason's eye for light was the biggest draw for me - you gotta love those golden hour pics! In November of 2019 we booked an engagement session with Jason and we couldn't have been more impressed. When our original plans of shooting at a park fell through, Jason suggested the LA Arboretum instead. We spent a few hours there with him and it was a really fun, laid back time. He made us laugh and kept it comfortable. We were so thrilled when we got the pictures back; we knew we'd made the right choice for our wedding photographer. Fast-forward almost a year to 2020. Covid19 hit and we weren't sure if we were going to be able to hold our small, 30 person wedding. We decide to scale it down to a micro-wedding with just family - 11 people total. Jason was super flexible and encouraging. It was particularly important to us to capture the day with photos to share with our family and friends who wouldn't be there / couldn't make it. As soon as I saw my future brother in law's engagement photos from Jason, I KNEW I had to use him for our wedding too. We met with him and put down a deposit on the spot! I wanted to update my review now that our wedding has passed. What can I say about Jason and his lovely assistant/wife Christina... they were absolutely amazing on the day! They worked so fluidly together to capture the special moments on the most important day of our lives to date. My guests were so amazed at how they just "appeared" out of nowhere throughout the reception and were there to snap photos of important moments. Jason worked so well with my other vendors and kept the schedule of the day flowing just right. From the first day we contacted him, he was fantastic about letting us know next-steps - we've never been married before. :) We booked an engagement shoot and wedding shoot with him. He traveled from L.A. to San Diego for both shoots. And not only that, but even arrived early to scout out shooting locations without us having to be there. From the first second of the shoot, and with all the equipment he brought, it was very clear: this guy knows what he's doing. He wasn't afraid to get down on the ground or climb a tree to get a shot, and we ended up with shadows and cool stuff I've never even seen before. The engagement pictures came out awesome. Love, love, love them. (Delivered a bit earlier than he quoted.) So much so, that come wedding day, every guest asked us if Jason was the same guy who shot our engagement, hoping he was. During the wedding: totally awesome. Got every shot from our shot list plus a few more, had original ideas, and did it all FAST, so we could get back to the party. If mom lined up the cousins for a shot, there he was. He was unobtrusive during the whole thing, taking his shots like a ninja. Only one problem with that: during the course of this whole thing, we've started to really like Jason, and we actually wanted to hang out with him more at our wedding. I had come across Jason's website on Craig's List. I know, I know, Craig's List!? Yes I'm very suprised about that too! So mind you when I was perusing thru SO MANY websites of wedding photographers and getting quotes for 5,000$+ I was more hesitant to contact Jason because his prices were really inexpensive. After contacting Jason via email, he replied back that the reason why his prices were less expensive in comparison to most wedding photographers was because he wanted to build clientel versus charging an arm and a leg for services. I really loved his honesty as well as loved his swift replies. We decided to meet and when my bridesmaids and I met him, he was so calm and so down to earth and never tried to upsell me on anything that I knew I had to have him as our photographer.. Plus, my husband is a shy/dont like attention-kinda guy so I thought Jason would be perfect. Like I said earlier, I didnt want to do typical eshoot locations like the golf courses, Balboa park or the beach so when I suggested Salk Institute and Geisel Library to him, it was a relief that he was so open to suggestions. We ended up taking our eshoot there and we had the best time of our life. He even got my husband to laugh and smile! At the day of the wedding, he arrived on time with his wife, Christina, who we also fell inlove with. They were both ninjas- doing their own thing, snapping away without getting in anybody's way while we were all getting ready.
