It's an amazing environment in which you can push yourself with the workouts, are guided by the coaches to prevent injury and provide input on technique, and the people are inviting. I never lifted weights as I was intimidated as regular gyms. At JCFit, the coaches guided me from day one, and now I am surprised at what I can do. If you want to have a fun workout, stay motivated and meet new people then JCFit is the place to be. read more

I see Leo for personal training here and have been really happy with the results up to this point. Would recommend Him as a personal CrossFit trainer to anyone looking to level up their regimen! read more

I've been going here for almost 2 years. It's probably one of the best CF communities that I've been apart of. The coaches and the members are awesome, supportive and encouraging. read more

I have been going to this box for 3 weeks now and I only have positive things to say! The community is very welcoming and accepting. Each class, the coaches make sure to have 1 on 1 check-in's with each athlete. They truly care about their members. I would recommend a drop-in to check it out! read more

I'm not really the reviewing type but CFJC makes me feel emotions I never thought I'd have for a gym. If you're new to the area or just looking for a gym to join, you NEED to check this place out. I've never been the kind of person who's disciplined enough to train in a gym alone, so I'm usually drawn to studio classes and personal trainers to help me stay active. However, I gotta say, even after visiting a ton of fancy studios via classpass, CFJC is truly the best. This place has one of the most welcoming communities ever. You won't experience any kind of clique-ish or scene-like vibe and everyone is always so supportive and eager to see you succeed. As for the coaches, I have nothing but amazing things to say. All of the coaches are genuinely invested in each member's fitness goals and they'll coordinate with each other to make sure you're on track to achieve them. They're all incredibly knowledgeable so you know you're in good hands and won't get injured. As for the classes, there are scaling options for all of the WODs, so you're sure to feel challenged no matter your skill level. Before each workout, the coaches will review the movements and give you pro-tips on how to survive the WOD so you're never entering any exercise blindly. In addition to the regular crossfit classes, there are plenty of class times and class types to work on your technique. Also, their late cancellation/no show fee is probably the most reasonable one that I've seen -- it's $5 and all of the money collected is donated to a charity called Barbells for Boobs. If you do a quick google search, you can see how much money they've raised for the cause. I'm sad to be leaving this place but I strongly encourage anyone who's looking for something new to check out CFJC. You won't be disappointed. read more

If you are looking for ACTUAL results, look no further. I've been Crossfitting for about two years, and it has been the greatest thing I could have EVER done for my health, mind, and body. Crossfit is a high intensity workout that focuses on everyday functional movements. Crossfit gets you strong and fit so carrying everything from groceries to a fire hose becomes easier...the workouts are designed to get you fit and strong fast! CFJC is a wonderful place! The programming is very well rounded. It's comprised of gymnastic movements, Olympic lifting (I love being able to lift really heavy s**t from the ground to over my head), and metabolic conditioning (anaerobic activity). The coaches and owners are AMAZING! ALL of the members are there to support the community, get strong, and have FUN! Aside from popular belief, you don't have to 'already be in shape' to begin Crossfit, you just need to be motivated to improve your health and fitness! Go drink the Kool-Aid and try out a free class! You'll see for yourself! read more

For those of you who don't know about CrossFit, go ahead and read up on the website. Highly effective workouts. I've been weightlifting and playing sports for over 12 years, and I must say that this place has me in the best shape of my life. I'm faster, stronger and more flexible. Coaches are great and they emphasize proper form, reducing the risk of injury. I find this to be the single most important factor in deciding on a CrossFit gym or any other instructor led workout. The Bonus: The community is amazing. Everyone motivates each other through workouts and then usually sticks around for a while after to hang out. This includes the owners and coaches who answer my incessant questions about exercise and nutrition. This is the best gym in Jersey City. Hands-down. They usually have a free class once a week for those who want to give it a shot. I highly recommend dropping in sometime. read more

Tried it for a couple months. At first I was excited and enjoyed the push, but then the classes kept getting more and more crowded. Had to skip crowded classes or sit in the back (that room is small), plus I realized I was the oldest guy in the room (37) and this was killing my shoulders and knees: There's no way you can lift any kind of weights in a tired-hurry and do it safely. . Feels like I wasted $1500+. Classes were not small. Staff changed. Dog fur on rubber floor next to your sweaty face. No drinking fountain. Maybe the whole CF experience isn't that smart. Better option: I recommend you find a trainer. S/he will push you to grow stronger safely for not that much more per month. read more

This is a great gym to go to, I have been to other crossfit gyms as well but this one I feel I will stay with. The people are friendly and nice and very helpful and everyone wants everybody to do the best. I must say I am not the most regular but people check up on you to see why you are not attending and if they can help in some way. I hope to be more regular and it will show results. The work outs are very high intensity and if you don't feel like death after a workout you have not really worked out. This place after every workout if followed correctly you will feel like death. the coaches always tell you what the correct movement is and why you should strive for the correct form and also tell you about the possible injuries. read more

JCFit - Interval Training Gyms Near Me - Jersey City, New Jersey

When I graduated from college, I thought I'd still stay in good shape. Play basketball, go to the gym, don't eat too much how tough could it be? A year out I'd been barely going to the gym, had gained weight, and was not in a good place physically, or mentally. After I moved to Jersey City, I had heard about crossfit and decided to give it a shot. It has been one of the best decisions of my life. I've been doing crossfit for a little over a year, and the results have been amazing. I've lost about 25 pounds and had incredible gains in speed, strength, mobility and technique. After a long day at work, I would never go to a traditional gym, but I push myself to get to crossfit because of the great trainers and the strong community. The trainers here care about you. They want you to do well and will teach you anything you need to know. I've been to other crossfit gyms where the trainers simply point to the workout and tell you to do it, but here they focus on the goal of the workout and the proper way to achieve it. The first few weeks here were frustrating for me. I was feeling exhausted after each one and felt like the worst one there. Despite that, I decided that I would keep coming every day and soon the results began to really show. Looking back on it, this to me was the key that I was doing something worthwhile. I cannot recommend this gym enough. It is more expensive than other gyms, however, the other places can charge less because they know you won't use it. Crossfit Jersey City is giving you a class atmosphere with personalized training that will provide results. Try it. You won't regret it. read more

I have been training at CFJC for the past 2 months now and love it. As an avid gym goer of 20+years I would often find myself going through similar workouts time and time again, not really making the progress I wanted, and usually ended up investing in private training sessions to address these issues. Expensive! The small classes they run at CFJC ensure that you get great attention from their training staff. Every day is a new workout so you never get bored, you constantly learn new skills, and there are all levels of athlete to work with or against during classes. I can't wait for the next workout. read more

An extremely welcoming and friendly bunch of regulars. All levels of ability are absolutely included with scaled and modified options for every workout. The coaches are extremely attentive during every WOD and they give excellent technical tips and instruction for all movements at the beginning of each class. Well worth trusting these folks for all your activity needs! read more

I've been going to CFJC for about 2.5 years - basically since the day they opened. The community at CFJC is stellar - your classmates will cheer you on through every workout, and celebrate with you afterwards. Classes are kept small so that each athlete can receive individual attention from the coaches. Because the gym is small, the owners are able to cater to the requests of their athletes, and have done a wonderful job of providing what people want. In addition to standard CrossFit classes, the gym offers a weightlifting club, focusing on the Olympic lifts (snatch and clean and jerk) and a running club. If you're looking for a tight-knit community of athletes who will help you push to reach your goals, CFJC is the place! read more

I have been coming to this gym for a little over 2 years now. The coaches and community is what makes this place so great. Don't be intimidated with the workouts! Everyone goes through a "fundamentals" course which assures you know the basic standards of the movements done in the daily workouts. Everyone is different and the coaches help you scale or move up according to your progress. The members of the gym are all very kind and push you to do your best. Since starting I have seen a big improvement in my strength and have learned new movements in gymnastics (an area I wouldn't have expected). Come for a free intro class to see what it's about it! read more

A great CrossFit gym around! I have been going to CrossFit Jersey City for few years years, on and off since they opened. Coaching staff is great. They are very knowledgeable and actually care about progress and health of the members. They review every movement for technique and give pointers for best execution. CFJC offer many different kinds of classes along with CrossFit, such as Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, heart rate monitored class, high intensity Special ops class, CrossFit kids. The best part about this gym is that anyone with any kind of fitness level is able to work out here. Total beginner or competition level athletes are able to train here as the workouts will be scaled accordingly. If someone is looking for an active lifestyle, then CFJC is good place to start! read more

I recently joined this gym in February after moving to the area and having been a member of a gym were I use to live. All of the members were very friendly and all of the coaches were welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. Shortly after joining, the gym changed ownership and the new owner made new and improved updates (new jump ropes and more time clocks). I'm very happy to be a member here and I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone in the area. It is an intimate space with classes that fill up but that is just a testament to the great coaching and intensity of the classes!! I'm looking forward to continuing working out here and improving my abilities! read more

Prior to joining CFJC, I was an active member of crunch & NYSC for over 5 years. The results I got from 3 months at CFJC was more than I had ever seen in 5 years at the other gyms/trainers. The coaching staff cares, the community is super fun and nice and I've learned so much about proper movement and what it takes to get results. Love this place! read more

This review is specifically for CrossFit Jersey City as a venue for a kid's birthday party (although my wife and son are regulars at this gym and love it to death). We held my son's birthday here this past weekend and it was literally the best birthday party he has ever had. They first set up a series of obstacle courses which all of the kids loved, and then they moved on to other activities such as a rowing race and makeshift bowling. Each activity was expertly supervised and very active, and overall the feeling was both fun and inclusive. The age range of the children ranged from 3-10 and they all had a blast. In particular, Russell and Janine were rock stars and really know how to throw a great party. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great birthday event for their children. read more

CrossFit Jersey City is Awesome! I have been a member for over a year and love being a member. Great coaches and flexible class times that fit my busy schedule. After year I have made significant progress with my personal goals and highly recommend CFJC to everyone. read more

Living near this gym is a nightmare. The clients are loud outside the entrance and in the alley. Classes are held with windows and doors open at all hours of the day. Dumbbells are constantly being dropped, shaking and clanging. My kids are constantly waking up from their naps, and their early morning classes are heard across the block. These people have no respect for their neighbors. read more

I lucked out. This is the first Crossfit "box" I went to and haven't been anywhere else since, and it's been 7 months now. Thanks in large part to thoughtful programming and encouragement from the coaches, motivation and accountability from my peers, and commitment on my part, I was able to lose 40 lbs since I started. I was also in the military and have played sports since childhood, but I can honestly say I'm now in the best shape of my life. Everyone will have different goals when they begin CrossFit, but the one constant is that you want to become much more fit. CrossFit Jersey City is one of those boxes that will safely help you get there if you put in the effort. read more

CFJC is awesome. If you want to completely change your body, this is the place to do it. I went from having a low toned, weak body to being strong (pull-ups, push-ups, etc...) and it also gave me more mental toughness in other areas of my life. The coaches are great and the environment is very supportive. It's also a great place to make new friends :-) read more

For a relatively new place that is trying to make a favorable impression, I found the facility to not be that clean. Further, the employees were not that helpful. Frankly have had much better training experiences elsewhere. Would have a hard time going back to this training place when there are so many other options out there. read more

Excellent coaches and a great CF community! Excellent coaches and a great CF community! I came to change up my exercise routine and to add cross-training to my running. The results were undeniable. Thanks to the coaches for making me a stronger, fitter person and a better runner! read more

I've been a part of the CFJC community a year and a half and have followed the programming. I've gone 4-6 days a week during that time so I consider myself a good test case for anyone who wants to dedicate themselves to improving their fitness at CFJC. My strength, endurance and mobility gains have exceeded expectations and then some. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and have been doing crossfit since before crossfit was crossfit. Every one of the coaches has helped me improve my fitness in some way. Most importantly, to me at least, I've had fun and made great friends and been part of something better than just "a place to workout." Months ago I approached a coach/owner about a fundraiser for a family friend whose son needed a bone marrow transplant. The same day the coach had a dedicated fundraising site and a workout scheduled. We raised $12k for the family and did 12k burpees....CFJC in a nutshell. read more
