We had 7 different companies around our area in Maple Grove come and provide bids and JKR was by a significant amount better. Cost: Out of all 7, they were the best. They itemized in a detailed quote what they were charging me for and why. They also provided information about pros and cons of different rock, plants, and edging options so we could work within our budget. Service: Jay and his team were great. From the first day where they saw our location, they were cordial, informative and did not make my wife and I feel pressured. They took their time and worked with us. Provided recommendations that we then were able to research which was helpful. They kept us in the loop as to when they were coming, when they expected to finish and the one time they had to delay things, they informed us in advance so we could adjust. We have young kids and a dog and they even provided us with some stuff to watch out for when fertilizing our yard. Quality: We're happy with how things were done. Even provided my wife and I recommendations on how to ensure the plants thrive and that the rest of our yard does well. Overall: The cost, the quality, the way they communicated and treated us was excellent. We will not hesitate to recommend them to others in our community.

After the first visit, I contacted the company to express my concerns. It took several days to hear back, and they responded by asking how the second visit went -- before it had even happened. When they did return, the results were just as bad. The job was still patchy, with uneven cuts and areas clearly untouched. It looks like they need to sharpen or change the mower blades, lower the deck, or simply slow down and take more care. For a service I paid for, the quality was unacceptable. We hired Shades of Green to build a patio in our back yard. We explained our budget and what we…read morewere hoping for.... They put together a nice design for us. But we couldn't afford to do all of it at the same time (Like $15,000 was the total, but our budget was $5,000). Patio looks nice - but we counted a little over a dozen bricks that have rust stains from where ever they were stored. For professionally installed, we weren't thrilled with this - but live with it. They also built a small sitting/retaining wall for us. It was the end of October 2016 - and when they cam out to finish forgot to install one brick.... (so the sides were uneven.) we were fine with waiting until Spring 2017 for them to come back. We discussed that we were not going to pay our remaining balance until the job was completed. Fair, right? We paid over 75% of total bill already..... Now that Spring is here, we would like to build up our retaining wall a little more. But everyone at Shades of Green is suddenly CRABBY at us.... and I'm not sure why. We have been nothing but nice and friendly, even though they forgot a brick last year. And now they would like to do add a bit more - it's like we are bothering them. Not like we are having them do anything for free - we are still paying them, so whats the problem. Honestly, I would NOT recommend SHADE OF GREEN. For the amount of money we did end up spending, we are disappointed in the stained bricks in our patio. You expect better from professionals. We also didn't appreciated the lack of communication between their sales staff and their installers. Not sure why they were so "GRUMPY" with us either..... We waited 6 months for the job to be finished. Signed purchase agreement in AUGUST 2016 - now it is APRIL 2017 and we are waiting for them to come back and finish.
