This winter was my first time lighting a fireplace in our townhome as we wanted to surprise the kids on Christmas Eve. The tech not only did the sweep, but he thoroughly explained everything what I needed and the process to start the fire such as purchasing kindling, when to open the chute, etc... I took down all of his notes and we pulled it off without a hitch (and no unwanted smoke). It's rare these days to find employees who take pride in their work so I highly recommend Karl Mattes for your chimney sweep.

Everyone is always so friendly, from the lady who answers the phone and makes the appointment to the service techs who come out to our home. They always arrive within the time window they give when making the appointment. Usually, it's on the earlier end of the time frame given. Today was no different. Right on time and right to work. They wear shoe covers to protect the floor and carpets from dirt. They lay down cloth tarps at the entrance of the home and around the fireplace to keep everything clean. The techs are always super friendly, polite and informative. They do a fantastic job! We'll always used this company for our chimney cleaning. I definitely would recommend them.

Excellent. That's all I have to say about American Chimney…read more We recently purchased a historic home in East Row Newport, and it needs a little TLC in terms of masonry. Our main issue was a chimney that was leaking into our third floor bedroom. In asking around, the only company that we were told to call was AMERICAN CHIMNEY. I will say at first that I was a little put off because their assistant/receptionist does not answer the phone much, and they appear to prefer communicating with customers via email; however, now I am a believer. They are simply very busy, and email is the best way to properly respond to everyone. And these guys know their stuff. They do beautiful work. We had American Chimney come out to initially give us a quote on rebuilding our chimneys (we have four of them). They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. This may sound dumb, but I keep going outside to stare at how great our chimney looks now. Because we live in a historic district, American Chimney mixes a special mortar that was used at the time that these house were built so that the new chimney matches the house. They took off every brick from our old chimney and relayed those same bricks with the new mortar, adding new chimney caps. Gorgeous, gorgeous work, and very pleasant folks who showed up to do the job (I think we had the owners son do our job...very sweet). If you need masonry work done, it's very important to have it done right. This is your home! Send these guys out to do the work...no job is too small. You will not regret it!

I had used American Chimney in the past, so I called them to have my chimney inspected and cleaned…read more At the beginning of the call, a recording said my call might be shared with a third party. I specifically asked the receptionist whether they used contractors or another company to perform the work. She told me, "No, they are all our employees." When the appointment day arrived, however, a company I had never heard of--ChimCREW--showed up. I checked their reviews before allowing them to proceed, and to be fair, ChimCREW did a good job cleaning the chimney. My concern is with how American Chimney represented the appointment. I specifically asked whether another company would be involved and was told no. I believe customers should know who will actually be coming to their home before agreeing to service. I was also quoted $1,335 for a chimney crown repair, which seemed quite high, so I declined the repair and am getting another estimate. Based on my experience, I recommend asking exactly who will perform the work and getting a second estimate before approving significant repairs.

It has been an easy and professional process dealing with this company from start to finish. From Justin's thorough roof inspection including photos and descriptions, his explantion of the different products and pricing options, and receipt of a very fair and reasonable quote to Dave's on the job supervision and efforts, we couldn't be happier. Dave kept us fully informed throughout the install as the removal of the 2 layers of old roofing on this 1904 century home resulted in some not too surprising extra expenses. The crew showed up on time, worked non stop until nightfall and showed up first thing the next morning to finish and leave us with a nail free yard ( okay, we found 2 lol!). We were so impressed by the care the entire team put into this roofing project from start to finish. Quick response to my texts/ emails/ phone calls throughout. Even when the gutters needed to be adjusted for proper drainage the issue was resolved quickly and to everyone's satisfaction. I finally met a contractor who cares as much as I do! Their level of professionalism, product quality and warranty is a rarity. Thank you At Your Service Roofing for the great job in Lakewood Ohio! I wish you the very best on expansion into NE Ohio. The accolades are well deserved!

. I contracted with this company for an approximately…read more$49,000 window and door project. Before purchasing, I specifically discussed my primary concern with the salesperson: through my windows. I even provided a competing quote showing the type of solar-heat-reducing glass I wanted, and we discussed this in detail. I was told American Weathertechs had a comparable product, and the salesperson demonstrated heat performance to me using a heat lamp. . The November 2025 installation had numerous problems, including windows that were difficult or impossible to operate, bowed sashes and installation deficiencies. I objected to signing completion paperwork because the work was not complete, but I was told to sign and not worry because I had a warranty and they would return to correct the problems. Financing was then processed. , . Fourteen sashes ultimately required replacement, yet problems remained. I eventually hired an independent third-party inspector, who documented additional concerns, including thermal observations and window/door deficiencies. The solar-heat issue also remained. Months after the sale, American Weathertechs told me that it does carry the type of Low-E coating/product that I had discussed at the point of sale. On August 5, the company proposed triple-pane inserts, but expected me to pay additional material costs. I asked for written performance specifications before agreeing to spend additional money. Instead, the company subsequently withdrew that proposal, refused further service and refused to return to finish the unresolved installation issues. They characterized the approximately $3,400 disputed balance as "bad debt," wrote it off to $0, and stated that my were void. . I have extensive emails, photographs, temperature documentation and an independent inspection report documenting my experience. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. After spending approximately $49,000 and spending roughly nine months trying to get these issues resolved, .
