This time, we decided to give Mike's Hauling a try. Mike's crew did an awesome job at an unbelievable price! The crew was fast, neat and friendly. In 45 minutes, they hauled away at least the equivalent a full dumpster. Then gave us a discount because the job was "easy"!!!! Why did I rent dumpsters for the first two loads? For $52 more than renting a dumpster, and spending a full weekend filling it, Mike's guys accomplished the same thing in 45 minutes. We still have one more load when we start demolishing some of the walls. We will be calling Mike. We will NOT be renting a dumpster!

The time came for my wife and I to clean up our basement and get rid of unwanted household items…read moreincluding a freezer, a refrigerator plus assorted smaller kitchen appliances and junk. So we called around to find a trash hauler, but most were commercial grade with a minimum size really more suited for a construction site, than for a residential property. We found this company after a long search, and made an appointment, but then they wanted to reschedule because of severe storms. They were worried about trampling mud in the house. (Odd when told them twice 90% was in the garage?) I guess they were trying to be considerate. Two days later, the truck arrived 17 minutes late, and they got to work. The large appliances went first, then the carpet and finally the boxes with junk. The truck looked too big when it first arrived, but our stuff nearly filled it! And best of all, it took less than 30 minutes to do. Then I got the bill... I anticipated $150-285 based on a verbal estimate, but it actually totaled $429 and change ...OMG! I shared with them that figure wasn't even remotely close to the one given over the phone, which the driver promptly deflected. (They even argued with me the different costs associated with each fill percentage.) I then tied to negotiate, but only succeeded in reducing it $29. (I was afraid if I pushed the issue, the load would be dumped, so I capitulated.) The bill amount, the dissension, and the reschedule (because my area didn't get much rainfall), plus being late are the reasons why they are receiving a two star rating. I guess I am old school where your word is your bond, but apparently this value no longer exists today. My wife and I are pleased the garage is now empty, but NOT pleased about the cost, especially when the recycling plant is just 10 minutes down the road and charges $25/ ton. We will not use them again.
