So, since I was spending a couple of months in Paris, I knew that sooner or later, I would inevitably need to get my remaining hairs trimmed, and I spent some time looking around in order to find one that would meet my needs and do so at a reasonable price. Luckily, I was living in a lively and trendy neighborhood, and I didn't need to do much more than have a walk down my street (rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, in the 11th Arrondissement of Paris) to find an absolutely awesome salon that gave me exactly what I was looking for. I was nervous about seeking out a haircut, since my haircut-specific French isn't extremely erudite, but I was comforted to know that the people here speak enough English that we were able to understand one another. Humorously, the young woman who cut my hair allowed me to try to speak French first, but after a few minutes, she told me that she spoke English, and only allowed me to speak French because she knew that a lot of foreigners visiting France were grateful for opportunities to attempt to speak French. I think she just wanted to see how much I knew, which unfortunately wasn't much.
But she was very friendly and professional, and gave me a great haircut, almost even better than the ones I usually get in the states. My hair was cut exactly to my specifications, so it was the perfect length when she was finished, and I left looking fresh and clean. Perfect! She also trimmed my sideburns and styled them in a way that I have been attempting to imitate ever since, and included in the extremely reasonable 15 Euro price was a shampoo and a towel-dry of my hair. I thought that this was going to be extra, so imagine my happiness when I found out that all of this was included in the price of the haircut! This was the cheapest place I found to get a haircut in Paris, and I was definitely extremely satisfied. If I am ever back in Paris for long enough to get another hair cut, I know exactly where I am going. The price is different for women, but it is also reasonable (26 Euro, perhaps, but I saw prices as high as 40 or 45 for women at other places), and they seem to be a fully functional salon, so they could probably do whatever you wanted...perm, color, etc. The interior is admittedly a little sparse and hodgepodge, but for the price, I don't think this place can be beat. No slick chain-store interior or super polished employees, but I actually prefer that sort of thing, so I enjoyed it. No frills, but excellent work. Bravo, JB!
I have no idea what their hours are, unfortunately, and I think I went on a Sunday afternoon at about 4pm, but you should just walk by and go in if they are open. I think it would be worth your time, and more importantly, your money. read more
